Last time, I gave them 5 star, even though it took him a few weeks and many calls and going there to get him to fix the car. This time, I just drove there. He wrote my number & the issue on a napkin & told me that he would call me when he had time. It has been over two months and no call. I am sure that if I call him, he will act as this is the first time he heard from me & I will go through the same routine in a few months. He is very unreliable.
My horn stopped working and Jeff was able to fix it pretty quickly, the only positive from going to him (10/2024) but it stopped working again (07/2025). I decided to reach back out to Jeff (08/2025) to see if he could take a look at it, again, since he had originally fixed it but he never responded to my messages. Pretty disappointed since it wasn’t a cheap fix (part + labor was about $300). Wouldn’t recommend going to him. Poor communication.

Like many others that have gone to Jeff, we were also on vacation and in desperate need of a car repair. After arriving to OBX for a family vacation we realized that something was wrong with our suspension. The car was riding extremely bumpy and we had to drive 8 hours back to Jersey. So when we brought the car to Jeff he took his time diagnosing exactly what the issue was and even addressed our hanging exhaust system. He was very knowledgeable and you can tell he really knows his stuff. Anyway, after figuring out that our air suspension was shot he quickly ordered the parts and had us on the ride back to Jersey in no time. I’d also like to mention that the car drove better than it ever had before with the suspension conversion kit he installed. 10 out of 10 would recommend. He is honest and extremely hard working. It’s definitely not an easy thing to run a shop by yourself, and he does it well.
When vacationing on the OBX, my tire picked up a nail and went flat on a Saturday morning. I had a hard time finding a garage that was open on Saturday, but thankfully found OBX Affordable Automotive Repair online. I arrived to find Jeff, who is such a nice guy and was so very helpful. He was busy with another vehicle but then got my issue addressed very quickly. He was fast, knowledgeable, and kind to me. You won’t regret patronizing this business!
We were on vacation for the week and heading out for the day when our low tire pressure light came on. We pulled into a gas station and the tire was almost completely flat (had a screw in it). We went to two other service centers that we saw driving along the road and neither could help us - they were "too busy". I found OBX Affordable online and drove there (it's tucked back off the main road). Even though Jeff (I believe that is his name) was running late to an appointment and needed to leave, he took the time to plug the tire and get us safely back on the road. We were able to enjoy the rest of our stay and are most appreciative of his assistance!!
We were leaving Currituck and was just about to exit the beach heading to Florida and busted a front strut and yes on a Saturday. We could not find anybody to help us, everyone was too busy and really could care less. Yes, Jeff was extremely busy too, but he was the only one that even cared enough to see what he could do. With a little team work and a lot of Jeff's expertise and help we were fixed up and on our way. Auto repair shops are a dime a dozen, but good ones and especially those that care are hard to find. Late into the evening of our last full day on OBX our two month old, new tire started leaking Air badly. We were driving home 500 miles to NY in the morning (Sunday of 4th of July weekend). My wife is a nurse and had to be at the hospital at 7 am on Monday. “Everything” was closed. I called AAA. They were very nice, but said dispatch to OBX was at least two hours and they could only do things for me - put the donut spare on or tow me to a tire place that would not open until Tuesday. My other choice was to drive 30 miles out of my way on the donut spare to a Walmart Auto Center and wait for the repair. We were desperate. At 12:30 am a trucker friend sent me Jeff’s information. Open 7 days a week 9-6. Eight miles away. Hidden right of Route 12. Jeff wasn’t there as he was out helping someone else, but he promptly answered the door. He was back in 15 minutes. With the speed of a NASCAR pit crew, he fixed the flat. The family didn’t even have to get out of the car! His prices are extremely fair. We were headed home in 30 minutes including the wait. Jeff was truly our guardian angel in getting us home safely and my wife to work on time!
Was on vacation in Nags Head. Started up my (relatively new) Honda Insight and got about 10 warning messages. Tried driving and it did not run well at all. Called about 10 different places, and none could see it before Friday (we were leaving on Saturday).
Jeff said he could take a look on Wednesday. Ran diagnostics and tracked down the problem very quickly - a rodent had got under the hood and chewed through one of the ignition wires! The whole process took about 30 minutes, and was repaired at a very reasonable cost. Jeff is a nice guy and very informative.
What a relief, I can enjoy the rest of my vacation now!

Vacationing in Corolla, and was planning to head home in 2 days. My car started making a grinding noise in the tire on new years eve. I called Jeff and he fit me in on new years day. He diagnosed the issue, found it was a quick fix, and only charged a few bucks for the whole thing. His ability to fit me in on a holiday, and find and fix the issue so quickly was a Godsend. Five stars all the way! We had the check engine light come on the day before the end of our vacation. Jeff took a look at our car and let us know he thought it was safe to drive home and have it looked at by our regular mechanic. He was right and he didn't even charge us for the visit. OBX affordable is an island gem. I gave Jeff a call on Friday afternoon about my car overheating. He told me to drop it off at 2pm the following Saturday. After getting it towed to his shop and expecting the worse he was able to diagnose and repair my car. By 4pm that day hours It was roadworthy. The Price was a drop in the bucket to compared to what could have been a ruined vacation. These reviews are all on point.

Jeff is very knowledgeable and knew exactly what our issue was after a quick call, got us in next day, and took no time from start to finish. Cars running great now and we're so grateful to have found him! Call ahead as they seem to stay busy, another good sign of great mechanics.
The best in OBX! Jeff is very professional and knowledgeable. He worked on my 2019 RAM 1500 upgraded and modified lift kits in less than half a day. We had a head light that was cracked and leaking water. This blew out the bulbs. They are very expensive and not easily to change. I had the bulbs but was going to wait until be got back home. Seat gang on second shift gave me a warning. So we found Jeff. Wonderful to work with. Very reasonable on the price. We had to order a part we shipped it to him and it was fixed. Thanks to Jeff!
After a very stressful drive from Michigan on our way to the OBX we got pulled over for a broken headlight. Once we made it in to North Carolina we googled nearest auto shops and read the reviews. We are from Virginia and our alternator went out in our car Friday evening and most places wouldn’t help us out even if we bought the part. I called Jeff and he had us bring it to him today after our part came in. We dropped the car off and with in the time we got food and ate he had our car done. We were on vacation and our van just stopped, no life in our battery, our alternator was toast on a Sunday afternoon. we called OBX affordable automotive repair and Jeff replied I'll be right over just give me the address , within 15-20 minutes he showed up. Jeff told us we need a new battery ,took out our old one drove us to an auto supply we bought new one ,he drove us back to our rental house and installed the new one. Then Jeff said meet me at my shop tomorrow morning and he removed the alternator ,drove over to auto supply we bought one and Jeff installed the new one.My wife and I were so pleased with the professional and prompt assistance we were shown with Jeff's repair shop and very reasonable prices. WE WERE VERY PLEASED and would use Jeff,s shop again !!!! and again!!!
We were headed out of town from our vacation on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend when we heard a knocking noise. We did a Google search for mechanics and found one that showed open, OBX Affordable Automotive Repair. Gave a call and Jeff said would meet us at the shop in about an hour. We drove straight there and waited. Jeff came and took a look and a drive and quickly determined that the driver side front wheel was ready to fall off! He checked all the tires, made sure they were secure and we were on our way up the road. Price was more than reasonable and his service was up front.
Life saver! Jeff did an amazing job helping us replace our break pads. We waited 30 minutes for him to get started on our car, but once he hid, we had his full attention. He works with an auto parts store just a few blocks away, so we knew we were getting fair prices for the parts. He made sure we knew what he was doing throughout and what we should do in the future. Very quick service. He got us on our way, since we were on our way out of state. Small independent business. Cannot recommend enough!
Jeff is the best and most honest car mechanic I have met on the beach!!! I had bought new tires less than a year ago and after a few months I took my car back to the dealer and they said I needed a new TPS installed on my driver's side tire and it would be $150 plus the part. I called Jeff and he saw my car right away!!! The left all my new tires low on air so the light would stay on inside my car!! Jeff was very friendly and honest and wasn't going to even charge me but he had already saved me $150. He sure won my business!!! Thanks so much
