I trusted this shop so much. I have a 15 year old Subaru and went in for routine maintenance every 4-6 mos. I asked to please inspect the vehicle for winter safety necessity and was told a tire needed replacing- 2 days prior to the appointment, there was an engine failure, and I had it towed there per their recommendation. It took another 2 days just to get a diagnostic.
An $1800 repair that allegedly included engine work resulted in a car break & radiator blowout in about 10 miles. I told the mechanics I need the car for serious medical concerns, and took their advice for drivability. It blew out on I95, and I almost got killed on the highway by drivers who swerved around me to crash. The engine was smoking and I thought it would blow.
I called back. The mechanic claimed not to know what happened. So I brought it to a premium engine mechanic who services Rolls-Royce, by a friend.
The car was not serviced per the receipts, the amount of labor assessed was inaccurate and I was overcharged. The winter safety checkpoints were neglected, and I was also told I could’ve lost control in the snow for what was left unchecked when I asked.
Bringing my car here almost killed me.
The fact that no one checked in after how bad last Friday was is highly suggestive of a mistake no one will own up to, so my friend dished out a bunch of credit card money and I paid cash I’ll never see again— to almost get killed in my car.
**This is a gas station. Do not come here for repairs**
The people at 500 Halstead Auto Repair go out of their way to provide excellent service and a very friendly atmosphere in our community. Benny and the folks on the team there make it a no-brainer to bring your business in anytime you need attention for your car. 5 Stars.
This business was great, I’m from out of town and got a flat tire. They did not have the one I needed, but pointed me in the direction of two local providers that would. Super helpful and kind!
Please please do not go to the Car Service Center if you do not have to, and go to 500 Halstead!
Let me explain why.
I have been going to my car manufacturer's service center because it was easy and convenient. I always came away feeling like I was overcharged and pressured into new repairs.
After my most recent experience at the service center, the estimated bill for "needed services" did not feel right. So, I decided to get a second opinion from 500.
Sue was so nice when I called and she got Benny on the phone after I explained my situation.
I shared with Benny what the service center said the car needed, and he said it didn't sound right. He told me to bring the car in for a free estimate, and I am so glad I took him up on his offer.
Benny serviced the car on the same day and charged me less than half of what the car dealership quoted. Benny also told me that I didn't need everything they told me I needed.
How many times have you come away feeling great about any type of car buying/servicing experience? From my experience, not many at all.
I have finally found a place that is honest, trustworthy and completes work on a timely basis. I love this place!

The officer administrator, Sue was very rude to me when an issue came up. Benny, the Manager of the shop intervened and resolved the issue in a very professional and caring way. He showed me he cares for his loyal customers. Thank you Benny for being a great mechanic and being so professional on the customer service side of things.
Benny and Sue are great. Sue runs the place and Benny does all the mechanics. Call for an inspection or if you need an oil change. For any auto repair call Benny and Sue to let you know what they could do. Lowest hourly rate in town. ? Oh and the gas prices are usually the lowest also.⛽⛽⛽⛽
Benny and his crew are awesome. Car repairs are never a fun experience but Benny and the staff are always professional and honest. I’ve moved away from Harrison, but I keep bringing my car back to this station because I trust them and their service.

I drive a 2005 Wrangler with low mileage but because of it's age it's always needing something repaired or replaced. The things I can't do myself I always get done at 500 Halstead Auto Repair.
Sue is always friendly when she greets you at the front desk & Benny is my absolute favorite mechanic. He's always there when I need some advice, he's always working hard to get the jobs done and a nice guy with a great sense of humor.
When I need a tow this is the place I call and when I need repairs, oil changes, tire rotations or gas this is the place I go. Their costs are reasonable, the gas is inexpensive compared to other places & they warranty/stand behind their work.
I had a scheduled tow in the morning and a driver named Kenny showed up as promised, on time, was very friendly and was kind enough to offer me a ride to work as it was on his way to his next job. Could not possibly have worked out better.
Me and my family were driving back from Georgia headed to Maine when our car had several issues. The mechanics were incredible from start to finish. Patient, kind, and knowledgeable. We had a great experience and are thankful we ended up here. Sue was so welcoming and kind to our oldest son. She entertained him during our wait and that alone is a huge help. My battery needed a boost and I contacted my insurance carrier contacted RJB Service. I was contacted right away and assistance arrived within a half hour. Aside from the process of setting up the service through my carrier, the process was quick and easy. Friendly, fast service. Highly recommended.
My car completely died in the middle of the street. It was a real nightmare. I called my insurance company for a tow, figuring I would be waiting forever. Boy was I wrong. I received a call from Vinny, making sure I was ok, and assuring me that they would be there shortly. Vinny and John arrived within 20 minutes of my call to the insurance company. I was amazed! They were unbelievably professional and definitely knew what they were doing. Vinny told me he has 29 years experience as a tow truck driver and even though John is in training, you would never know it. He performed like a seasoned vet. They have me a ride, saying me from having to pay for an Uber, which I was certainly grateful for. I will insist on RJB anytime I need a tow! Thanks a million guys!

On December 16, 2019 I experienced an emergency with my vehicle. They charged me $210 for a tow 6.1 miles (local road). I requested from driver was so expensive. His response was that it was $125 to put the car onto the flatbed and $8.00 per mile. I only went 6.1 miles which should have been $48.80 + 125 =$173 .80 vs the $210 fee charged. Following day contacted office, unwilling to correct.

Can only say something good about this place. My car wouldn't move & was stuck at my house, RJB towing sent someone out really fast to help like within 35 mins. Manny who towed me was so nice & really helpful. They won't try to rip you off just if you're a woman! All thumbs up for RJB company and Manny the driver. Thanks!
Had my car towed by Giovanni, and also went to their shop where it was worked on by Benny where he replaced the starter motor, and did an oil change. Both were very straightforward in their explanations, didn't talk down to me when I asked questions, and were super friendly overall. It was such a stark contrast to what I usually experience from most shops (ranging from indifference to impatience to looking down on my oh so insufficient knowledge of all things mechanical just because I'm female), so I'm really grateful for these guys making a usually stressful situation much more bearable.
I had the WORST tow truck driver. I was clearly upset, and he came at me with an attitude. Yelled at me, demanding I try to drive the car because the location wasn't conducive to getting it on the flatbed. He was so nasty, at one point I literally said, "you need to stop being so mean to me!" Ultumately, he got the car where it needed to be (to his small credit) but then continued to be horrible to me about the payment for the tow. Mr.Reyes, the tow truck driver took a situation that was already a mess for me, and made it a thousand times worse.
Marlon helped me out big time last night when I was broken down going north on I95 in Connecticut. He happened to be in the area and came over to help me out, even before I could get on the line with my insurance company to send help. He blocked traffic to make sure we were safe, changed my tire in a timely manner and off we went. Very professional! Thank you very much Marlon!
Whoever owns this business, if you can even call it that, should be ashamed and should close down. My Honda Pilot was in a car accident and was towed to this place, they refused to release the vehicle unless they fixed it!!! I couldn't believe it...after back and forth I was ONLY able to retrieve my Pilot if I sent the money via WESTERN UNION!!!!!!!! What?? You couldn't make this up if you tried! Stay way!
This company is REFUSING to let our vehicle out of their lot. I am not driving hours to pay them (refusing to take payment over the phone or to send me an invoice) I am more than willing to pay the full price, I have a Visa and and Amex and they WILL NOT LET ME PAY FOR MY VEHICLE. They are HOLDING MY VEHICLE BEYOND MY WILL AND REFUSE TO TAKE PAYMENT. I DO NOT RECOMMENCED.
My daughter and wife were broken down on 95 south bound in Greenwich on a very busy Friday. The tow came and it was Jensy, Jensy, not only did his job but stopped traffic on 95 to make sure my daughter and wife were safe on their way and took care of their car too. All with great respect and real professionalism . Thank you Jensy, the world needs more people like you...
Had to wait an hour because it was midnight during a snow/ice storm. I am a nurse and I was stuck in a ditch in the parking lot of my job. 100% honestly well worth the wait, he got me out in less than 10 minutes and I was home 10 minutes later. The tow truck driver was very nice, very professional and the whole experience just makes me love Geico road side service. I used this towing company purely by chance ( through Geico) but I just want to say they really really were great!!
Discovered this place very late after living in town over 18 years. I have been going to this place the last 8 years regularly, for all my car needs, never once they have disappointed me. My car was stranded on street couple of times; they immediately came and took care of it. All very honest and hard working people over there, can't recommend them enough.
They came with a flatbed to PC around midnight, took my car back to their shop and changed both my front tires as I requested. Professional and Polite. Thank you! !
I got a flat tire. call Geico they SUCK...anyway they sent RJB. The driver Ken showed up in 20 minutes. Kenny is a great man. Quick service no bs. Thank you Kenny and thanks RJB for the great service.
This is beyond my understanding that you call up a customer 15mins before the service is due and just cancel the whole thing after just one minute of conversation. In addition, have such a snarky and and even childish attitude at 5am in the morning. The first thing I hear from him (Rich) is, 'your car is on the second floor of a garage? Who is going to push the car down?' And keeps on repeating that question as if that is my fault that my car got stuck there. Even after politely asking that it is not professional for you to say that in such way first thing to the customer, he became even more childish and said, 'I can't work with someone who calls me unprofessional' and cancelled the order. This added immense amount of stress onto my car problem, and everyone knows how stressful disabled car problems can already be. I got connected to this company through my Volkswagen and I am not sure if they only get jobs through this way, not caring what experience their customers walk away with. If you have a choice in choosing your company, I would suggest you stay away from this one.
