This store has terrible customer service; the cashiers are very rude and invent arbitrary restrictions at the checkout counter, even after you've already placed your items on the counter. This has happened to me twice, and I will definitely not be shopping at this store again, nor do I recommend it to anyone, mainly because of the cashiers' extremely rude behavior.
This is a big Stop & Shop, and I usually come to this location when the one closer to my home doesn’t have what I’m looking for. This store has a huge selection of everything. If you come to this Stop & Shop, I guarantee you’ll find whatever you need.
I especially come here for items that aren’t always available at my local store, like the ready-made eight piece fried chicken. And I always make sure to grab my favorite cookies Brooklyn Delights Chocolate Chip Cookies (6-Pack). They’re hard to find anywhere else, and this location usually has them in stock.
Clean and well-organized supermarket. The staff is always ready to help. Sales are usually really good. Reward and coupons are useful and the app makes it easy to use.
The Glendale Stop & Shop is a pleasure to shop in. It’s always very clean, aisles are wide enough for two carts and the staff are very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. They hire members of special needs population who are competent and very friendly. Their prices are competitive and they have great sales. They have a customer support desk, so you can always get help for any problem or question. I hardly go to any other store anymore.
I WAS TREATED VERY BADLY BY THE AFRICAN AMERICAN GENTLEMAN WORKING IN THE FREEZER SECTION EARLIER TODAY. HE WAS RUDE AND CONDESCENDING. I ASKED A SIMPLE QUESTION. Attitude
SHELVES ARE NEVER STOCKED. SOMETIMES FOR DAYS, WHO'S RUNNING THIS PLACE. I NEVER SEE THIS AT KEY FOOD DOWN MYRTE AVE. THEY HAVE PEOPLE WORKING ON EVERY LINE THERE. NEVER WAIT, NOT LIKE THOSE SELF CHECKOUTS IN STOP AND SHOP. HIRE PEOPLE!!!! I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GIVE ONE STAR.
Prices are not updated in their system, so you often need to call someone to adjust the price because they charge the previous, higher price even for items on promotion. It’s not a good shopping experience.
Edit: the canned cat food at decent prices again
The remodel they did is nice, the additional self checkouts have made it a lot better to check out there. They made decent prepared food, and have a good selection of produce and meat But the prices have gone up so much on some products, even beyond inflation. For example, Canned cat food has gone up 50% in price over the last year, you can get the same for cheaper at a deli. Its also sometimes hard to figure out how much things actually cost because far too often the display price is for multiples (3 for $x), when it's not actually discounted for buying more than one. That said, when things are actually on sale, they usually have some really great deals...that is, if it's still in stock.
Very wonderful experience. I am new to queens and came in because my fiancés ex girlfriend had a baby and wanted me to see it. So my fiancé recommended stop and shop and I came across a good man named William who helped me with the bakery aisle. When coming here, do ask for William
Came in here late at night, William is my savior. I was in a rush looking for prune juice and sir William, white male helped me find the prune juice instantly. Great man, great store. I'd recommend going to this shop if you need anything! And definitely asked for William!
We started to like the store more. You can generally get a real person to check you out and the deli people are all great. Real service and usually no real wait for us. Prices still aren't there for most non sale items and produce hasn't changed. I gave it another star because the sale items are worth buying and the deli counter. We must of gone a few times when they didn't have staff for the real registers. Some of them are super nice and helpful but no one is rude ever. Still never would self checkout.

Not very big and the produce is like all the other NYC stores not the best and over priced. I've had nicer cashiers but they aren't the worst. I'd go here for a reason but never shop here on a regular.
OK so shopping here is the same but you go during normal shopping time like 7pm there is ONE like one actual human everything else is self check out. They force you to want to try self check out because who wants to wait 15 minutes to have good service. Well the self check out is a mess with people leaving their orders on the register and you having to wait to get it cleared out. Just do yourself a favor and go to a store staffed by real cashiers who are nice and helpful up the street. No one pays you to do the job of the stop and shop cashier so why should you if it takes longer and makes you aggravated. Maybe offer a discount to self check out since you are staffing the store with 3/4 the amount of people instead of just keeping the extra and not having cheaper prices. Only go for sales nothing else.
There must have been a change in management because I've been a loyal customer for years, and there is a pattern. The shelves are especially empty on Wednesdays and Thursdays (last days of an item's weekly sale price) and in stock when it's no longer on sale. Why does this happen? Weekly sale prices are great, but customers can't take advantage of those prices because it's not available. You're better off traveling to the Union Turnpike location. I will update with pics to prove my point.
Items were rung out more expensive than were advertised. Had to go to customer service for a price adjustment. Customer service had a line of three people with no employee working it. I ended up just walking out with a free mountain dew instead. Hire more workers and fix your prices.
Today I wanted to have a good steak for breakfast so I went to Stop & Shop but what surprised me was that the meat stand had all the products with expired labels, then I said well I'll choose chicken breast and it was still expired. I asked a worker who was nearby he go away.
I was disappointed and ended up leaving without buying anything. It was a disappointing experience and I hope they can improve their inventory management in the future.

Not only do they close earlier than 11pm but they block off entire aisles so that you cannot get the items you need. Came in at 10:52pm to get single roll paper towels and the entire aisle was blocked with a metal fence. Therefore, I could not even get the item I came here for. I’ve never seen anything like it. Not happy with this experience. As someone who has worked in retail, it is common courtesy to allow people to come into the store until closing time. Disappointed isn’t even the word. I expected better from this area.
I don’t think I ever felt more uncomfortable at a supermarket in my life. I was trying out for the second time because they have parking and all but dude no idea why they were staring me down like if I was about to steal something, super weird, super uncomfortable, and annoying, like come on I don’t even bother anyone for help. It’s not like they offer anyway. I know inflation whatever prices are insane. Thank God I’m moving to Florida and I don’t have to come back here.
First of all nice location and nice store. However, I would like to address about an unpleasant situation that has happened recently. When I went to the store at 10:47 pm, though there were still people inside and it was brought to their attention that I had been waiting outside, 2 employees saw me and they said it was closed. I understand that employees want to leave early and close asap, but the store has operation hours until 11 pm. After a few minutes of trying to make them open for me, the guy has opened a door and came to me telling that I gave him an attitude. Hopefully, the management will be able to educate his employees about how to communicate with costumers and not to judge them but be helpful and respectful as they deal with other people. Thanks
Always has new items available ever so often & expanding their vegan and organic products as well. Best to go during the weekdays since it can get a bit crowded. Produce is pretty fresh most of the time . Make sure to download the app to get discounts. I’ve saved a lot from stop & shop locations. Staff has been nice if I ever needed help locating anything.
Great staff, very organized and clean. Only complaint is lack of availability of items on certain days (empty shelves). If you want items you're gonna have to get it the EXACT date they restock or else you're gonna come home empty handed. This is an ongoing issue that hasn't changed in my years of living in the area.
This hurts both the customers AND the business itself because the empty shelves will cause customers to consider shopping in other nearby supermarkets instead.
Would've been 5 stars if not for this issue.
I like the wide aisles. Store is clean. A good variety of all types of foods. Employees are nice. I only took off 1 star for the very long check out lines and sometimes self checkout is just as crowded the bars in front and back can make pulling a cart out difficult they should consider removing it's next to the Q55 Cypress hills st stop
