My mother went to the shop as a first time customer and she was very impressed and would definitely be using them again. She would definitely recommend this to people.
Reliable and reasonable. I bring all of my family cars to him for repairs. His turn over time is very quick. The towing service is great. Julio had to pick my car and I up today and he was there very quickly. He’s an all around professional person.

He is approachable, honest, communicates thoroughly, and his quality of work is incredible.
And he stands by his work, if I hear or feel something that feels off, he has no problem relooking at the problem and correcting it.

Julio's a really great guy. It was truly fortunate that they were able to fix my car so quickly when the issues arose. He charges very reasonable prices for the outstanding quality of work he does. I highly recommend this shop.

I took my car to this shop in March 2024 to replace the alternator. They did the job and charged me $650. By September 2024, the alternator had already stopped working. I called and explained the situation, pointing out that it should still be under warranty. They agreed to take a look at it, but charged me for a tow truck even though the issue was clearly due to their faulty work. I live on the other side of the river, (West Haverstraw) and they used that as an excuse to stick me with the bill.
Now, it’s only six months later and guess what? The “new” alternator they installed has failed again. That’s twice in less than a year. Either they’re using the cheapest parts possible or they have no idea what they’re doing — maybe both.
Avoid this place at all costs. Terrible service, poor quality work, and zero accountability. Save your time, money, and frustration and go anywhere else.
Expiration of vehicle inspection was approaching and I found myself back in Croton from which I had moved last year. Passed Julio's Auto shop, where I had had many excellent experiences, stopped, and asked if he had time...he squeezed me in and I was on my way in no time. Where else would you get such service?
I changed my review of this place because he owner reached out to me to come to a happy resolution. I had bought a vehicle from this shop and initially was going to give 5 star review. The next day I discovered a problem and there was an initial miscommunication as to how it was going to be resolved. I am very happy to say that the vehicle is 100% and I will continue to do business with this shop.
If I could give this shop zero stars I would. Let me start by saying that I have had nothing but good experiences up until yesterday with Croton Auto Repair.
I brought my car in for a nail in the tire and a humming/grinding noise coming from the right side of my car, and asked them to check the right front bearing. They called me back later that day to tell me, after diagnosing the problem, that it was indeed a bearing I needed, but it was the driver side rear bearing making the noise and estimated the work for the nail in the tire and the bearing to be $340.
They called me again when the car was 'done' but Julio wanted to 'show me something'. When I went down to the shop, he had it up on the lift, said they fixed the bearing (he pointed to the passenger side rear, which I found odd), and then told me I had a new problem, and proceeded to push and shake a bar that lead into my transmission. He then told me I needed to take my care to a transmission shop because he doesn't work on transmissions. I then went to pay for the first two issues. The invoice I got was $542. Ok, a bit more than I expected but whatever, my car is fixed.
Nope. On my drive home the car made the same noise it made before and additionally, any time I hit a bump it rattled like a tin can under the car. I called and then had to go down to the shop and talk to Julio about it (after getting stonewalled over the phone) and he not only laughed at me, but refused to correct the 'new' problem that I had, laughed at the fact that the bearing he charged me for can be found online for $40 but charged me $136 for it...and could care less about the fact that my car was worse off than when I dropped it off.
I had been driving around with my windows open specifically listening to the sound the car was making to try to figure out what the grinding issue was...I would have noticed the tin can rattling sound every time I hit a bump. It was CLEAR as day that he created the new issue.
My car did not have this problem when I dropped it off, and Julio refuses to stand behind his work, nor correct a problem he obviously created.
Never going back.
We’re traveling the New England states with are RV. We ran into a battery issue with our vehicle which we are towing. Went to Croton Auto, our battery was checked, and were told it is still good. Recommended a portable jumper and RV 1 brake adapter, to help preserve the battery during towing. Truly honest and knowledgeable. No charge for checking the battery.
Great mechanics. I’ve used them 3 times now and they’ve been quick and reliable. Battery died so they came and jumped me, had a clogged a/c drain line, they figured it out and had it done instantly.
Really great customer service. I am always very nervous about dealing with mechanics, but this experience was great, I felt that the problem was diagnosed correctly and it was solved correctly. Highly recommend this business.
Julio and the guys at Croton Auto Repair are great. They've always gotten me in the same day or the next day and always take the time to do things right, even on the little jobs. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.
Best auto repair I have found, had our Audi back on the same day on multiple different occasions. These guys know there stuff no matter what kind of car.
