It's just really good. The staff is great. Some of the campsites are sand dirt or gravel which I don't really like but some of them are grass which I do. Bathrooms are cleaner than other campground bathrooms or outhouses. The showers are good. The beaches are both good. The hiking trails are a little hard to find but they're good too. There's enough room and trees between campsites you don't feel like you're up in your neighbor's business all the time, but some campsites are a little more open or closer together which is great if you're planning to camp with a group of friends. It's a nice place

A great and quiet campsite that was not full during peak summer season. Rustic bathrooms. Great access to the lake. Beautiful and maintained camp sites.

We love the campground, nice campsites, the only bad thing that some people where partying till close to 11pm so no too peaceful, second night was amazing and quiet. Beach was perfect

Not recommended for horse camping. The horse sites were full of non horse people who were ruckus partiers making lots of noise until after 2am. They also wandered around the horse corals petting horses like a public petting zoo. I felt it necessary to lock the corral with a bike lock, it didn’t feel safe. The trails were not well marked, and if you want to go any distance at all, you have to go a long way on a poorly maintained trail through the woods with many logs down, over a dangerous brook crossing, and cross route 9n. Even after doing all of that, we found the ‘vista trail’ closed and had to back track. The swimming was nice at the beach, but with crappy trails and crappy sleep, I’d say it’s not worth the trip!

The horses are the best sight to see while your having a fire and just watching people ride their horses down the road.

The park rangers set up a speed trap at the bottom of a hill the furthest from any camp sites possible and pulled over nearly the entire campground. Seemed like a shakedown. The one “officer” had the nerve to say “Happy Birthday” after handing me a ticket for going 5mph over. Just watch your back if you do go.

The grounds were fine except there were lots of large rocks that needed to be raked before putting your tent down. Each site comes with two picnic tables and the fire pit. The pit is a 3-sided stone wall with most sites having a rectangular grill grate attached by a chain. We were missing a grate but luckily the site next to us had two. There were plenty of private shower stalls with a one-touch button to turn on warm water that lasts about 5 minutes. Our site was a bit more cramped than other sites near us. The numerous trees made our place smaller but manageable (not a good fit for a trailer). I made note of a different site if we decide to stay here again as some have a longer “driveway”. We picked our site because of access to the lake and the foot traffic wasn’t a bother. The beach was small but not overcrowded. Plenty of people brought their paddleboards, canoes and kayaks. We caught bass and pickerel. I would’ve given 5 stars had I known about the cramped area prior to booking my site.

They have an amazing staff here. They are all very helpful. Bathrooms are cleaned daily. Hot water for showers, but if you go during the busy times or directly after, it will be out of hot water, but if you go at off times like the afternoon and evenings then you will be able to have a nice hot relaxing shower. They are big enough to use a shower chair if needed. The sstaff periodically goes around to make sure everyone is alright. Most of the sites are spacious. Some sites are too close together unless you want to meet new people while camping. There's ample wood, so bring an axe or saw, or you can buy wood locally within 3 miles. There's a store across the street from the entrance that sells ice for $2.99 per 7lb bag and bags of wood for $10.00 per bag or 3 for $25. Non-motorized boats can be launched from multiple places. I love it here!!

Great camping spots, very clean, privacy at state campgrounds is usually always the same so I'm not sure why people complain, look at the map, we always pick a site far from the main rd. The maps are a great tool to picking a spot, and seeing how many campsites are in that area. All park staff was very kind, the beach was beautiful and clean, my son met a friend to play with in the evening, everyone was great, the experience was great, it usually is when we come to the Adirondacks though! My family will definitely stay here again!

Not a place for privacy or peace. I cut my stay short as it’s not a very enjoyable place to relax and enjoy nature. Check in happens at the booth where you drive in. If you’re curious about the H loop, there’s a single area for all of the horses behind H3. Struggled to find a flat spot free of roots and rocks. Each site has 2 picnic tables. There is a fireplace, no grill. There’s a frill grate at the site, which may or may not be chained or even mounted. Water, bathroom - neither are particularly close to that site. The bathroom there is horrendous, looks straight out of an 80’s horror movie. 2 stalls were immediately too few. I don’t think it can be rehabbed, they need new restrooms. Campers are not courteous and do not follow the direction of the loop. Folks at the beginning are subject to them driving by on their way out and on their way in - hugely invasive and selfish. The folks at the other end of the loop drove their 6 cars past me no less than 200 times in 3 days. Whats crazy is they could have similarly gone the other wrong way around the loop and would have (like me) not had to drive past their neighbors’ campsites at the beginning of the loop. It’s like camping next to Main St on a parade route - someones neck is always broken looking at what I have at my camp. Also lots of people who were not camping in the loop driving through looking suspicious. The beach is very small, but the water clean and clear and a bit warm. Staff is friendly and helpful, no store on site. Lots of attractions, stores, etc nearby. Not much wildlife activity, mostly birds n’ bugs, chipmunks, deer. If you want to enjoy camping, chose another campsite. If you need a cheap place to stay near the various attractions, Luzerne will work. Oh and the main road is narrow and lots of campers are trucks towing wide equipment. No raccoons lurking at dusk or at the dump station.

Love this spot for base camp not far from Lake George/Glens Falls area. We always go tubing when we stay here. There are company’s that will take you but we choose to walk the river road 2.5 miles with our tube and float back to the car. A 4 hour journey but worth every step.

Campsites were kept up great but for the RV sites, trees should not be left in the front of the site to hinder the process of getting a trailer in the site. Keep all the trees on the back and sides but remove the ones near the road. Beautiful sites though!

We are here for our first time with a 26' RV and have enjoyed the heavily wooded, spacious, and quiet this DEC run park has to offer. The one bathhouse I used was modern with 8 private shower stalls and decent restrooms. The smaller restroom nearer my site is closed. I would say sure, this park could use some updates, but it's not bad. Giving five stars because it's a decent park and in a nice location nearby to so many other activities.

This was out first camping trip together. We had been together for a while hut had just never made it camping. I'm glad we chose this location. There are horse stables, two swimming locations, the field of dreams, plenty of nature with sites not on top of eachother. Showers were large and warm. They offer boat rentals, recycling and bins for trash. They even have booklets for kids to fill out and get a nature badge. Great fishing and trails all over the place. Our last night we had bobcats very close to entering our site. (They sound scary but arent a real threat, Set off the car alarm to scare them away) however the rangers were very knowledgeable and willing to drive to us to remove them. It was safe, comfortable, beautiful camping. Pet friendly.

Caught someone poking around my campsite, tent, and car at midnight and had to shoo them out of my campsite. This was in addition to the very loud group of people up literally all night hooting and hollering while drunk, even after the rangers went and asked them to shut it down. So much for the quiet hours being strictly enforced, and so much for a safe campgrounds. Absolutely will NOT stay here again.

Luzerne State Campground is a nice campground. It is located in a quiet spot only about 15 minutes from downtown Lake George. Campground spaces are fairly large and there is much space between them. Fourth Lake is situated in the middle of the campground. It is has a non-monotonized boat launch and two small beaches. The water is fairly nice and you can view see nearby Potash Mountain from it. Fishing is pretty good in the lake. Fish to be caught include bass, sunfish, rock bass, pickerel, bullhead, bluegill, and northern pike. It is easy to kayak or canoe around the lake in less than an hour. There are rarely many others on the lake. There are rarely lifeguards at the beach. The campground is located nearby recreational opportunities. Nearby hikes include Potash Mountain, Prospect Mountain, and Hadley Mountain. Across the street from the campground is a business that does whitewater rafting. Also, a grocery store with deli is nearby. Roads in the campground are a bit bumpy. Campground staff is friendly and helpful. A small campground with access to many different recreational opportunities.

Nice campground. The sites are large and spaced out. The lake is excellent, clear water, good swimming beach. The small restrooms are terrible. While the toilets may be cleaned every day the room itself is filthy. It was never swept, full of bugs both alive and dead. At the least they need better upkeep, when compared to other state campgrounds the restrooms need to be updated. The larger shower rooms are in better condition but we were not in that section.

Con's Could use more bathroom's and showers closer to sight's .And maybe fire wood service in the park like most all of NYS campground's have It's kind of hard to Carrie wood on a motorcycle . Pros the landscape is was awesome we were in the h section other camper's were very considerate and friendly very cool to see horse's riding through the loop

Sadly, our experience here wasn't that great. We spent 1 night when traveling through the area. I liked the wooded camp area and the distance between campsites was generous. I cleaned up our campsite that was littered with trash, crushed cans, and melted bottles. Groups of families were gathering at sites adjacent to ours, maybe about 4 families. It was nice to see kids have fun BUT quiet-time begins at 10:00 pm, and the adults partied loudly into the early hours of the morning. Were we supposed to climb out of our sleeping bags at 2:00 am and find a park employee? Somehow I don't think so. Thankfully, we left the next morning, and we won't go back.

Decent. Most sites have nice distance from neighboring site. Nicely wooded setting. Better for tent camping. Bathroom was clean but pretty ugly. Downside is that it can be noisy. No ground foliage or brush to block noise. Partying at night didn't stop at quiet hour (10:00 pm). Upon arrival, I was picking up trash around site -- beer can and melted plastic bottles in fireplace.

Truly a gem. This park is about 15 mins from Lake George but without the touristy crowds. We were able to get a site right by the lake and the sunsets are incredible. You can rent a canoe or kayak for the entire day for $20 which is a great deal. Actually caught a couple of sunfish but I've heard there maybe some lake trout if you go deep. Showers are individual stalls with good pressure and hot water. So far I've been very pleased with NY state park campgrounds this year.

My family spent 4 days camping with a tent at this campsite. COVID-19 safety precautions were followed. The campsites are very large and the showers are awesome, there are individual stalls for each shower. The bathrooms are within walking distance, always kept clean, but would benefit from some updating. Due to COVID19 boat rentals were not available, but the beach area was nice. Kids enjoyed riding their bikes and were able to complete the Junior Naturalist Program and received a patch once it was completed. Overall nice campsite near the Lake George Area! Will definitely return with my family ❤

Sites were on the small side, but we had a great location. Rangers were very friendly and informative with the kids. Private and quiet, brand new bathhouses with showers. Our regular bathroom could have been updated but it was clean and worked. Small beach to swim and across the lake we found a fishing spot, Great experience for us and the kids. Not far from Lake George its the perfect spot!

Very quiet, beautiful campground during the week. Nice wooded waterfront camp sites, could use a few more trees cut out for a more open view. Gorgeous sandy-bottom lake, warm and perfect for swimming, kayaking and fishing. A little frustrated by state swimming rules, we're used to NH state park rules. The staff were very friendly but one ranger spoke to us about swimming outside the very small beach boundaries. There is a beach on the camp site side of the lake and day use beach on the opposite side 2 miles away and only the day use area can be used for swimming except everyone swam at both locations our entire stay. Seems ridiculous to waste an entire lake and cram everyone in a 20x30 area. Other than that it was a great family experience. We used the sand volleyball court by the day use beach, played croquet in the open playing field, and enjoyed the clean restrooms and large showers.

Really nice campground with large, secluded sites (especially #11!). Some of the smaller bathrooms are pretty gross, but if you go to the bathrooms with the showers they're very clean. Great location, we visited Lake Geroge and the Great Escape during our stay and both rides were very short. Not all sites have cooking grates on fires but if you can find one in another vacant site they're movable.

We typically camp at this campground at least once per year since it is close by to Lake George (which makes for a nice day trip) and because there are usually plenty of nice large sites to reserve without doing it 9 months in advance like many popular campgrounds. The large and private sites make you feel like you are truly camping. We camp with our dogs, so there are plenty of walking trails and the "Field of Dreams" open field for playing in. There is also an area of horse stalls where you can come with your horse and camp. We haven't camped in that loop, but we do walk over and look at the horses. The bathroom s are updated and have single room showers which are nice. Plenty of hot water, too and they are usually very clean.

I loved this campground! had a beautiful lake to kayak on, tons of trees all over and the campsites had space in between so you didn't feel claustrophobic..The showers and bathrooms were cleaned and there was plenty of hot water. The staff was very friendly and we did see a park truck drive through at least a couple times each day. There is a family owned little grocery store literally across the road if you run out of something. They made sandwiches there (though we didn't have any) but we did try their chocolate cream pie and it was great! The campground is far enough away from all crowded touristy places but still within a 15 min drive. There is a Walmart super center with 25 min too.

Our 3 night stay there was the Best !! Very friendly staff, beautiful campgrounds and lake, fun fishing , (bass and yellow perch) Showers and Bathrooms are the nicest and cleanest I have seen yet! plenty of PRIVATE shower rooms, short drive into town if you need anything or just want to explore ! was just an all around good time ! will be there again soon!

Have camped here several years running with our horses and mules. Like the fact we are away from the rest of the campground. Roomy sites in the equine section. Friendly and helpful staff that drive around to do camp checks all night. Bring a bike if you camp in the equine section, it is a little ways from the shower facilities! (There are toilets in the equine area.) Trails aren't marked the best, but you can ask for directions and they will provide you with an area map. If your horse trailer is a 4 horse with living quarters and very long, pull in the exit up by the camp sites. You will not make the turn around the trees in the entrance. The drive divides into an entrance and exit. For the horses, they are individual secure paddocks with water tubs. Also, the camp ground provides wheelbarrows to clean up after your critters. I suggest bringing your own manure fork. Most folks are courteous and clean up before they leave the sites. Not all do though... I don't fault the campground for this, but the campers.
