Predatory towers, they sit in the parking lots of businesses and tow cars within minutes, before even getting authorization from the business. While technically legal, this is a scummy practice, especially in the downtown of a college town. Forcing 300 dollar tickets for parking in an empty parking lot when the owner doesn't even care is just horrid business practice.
Called for a AAA tow. Received an email that Koskinen's was the tow company towing. I called to ask if I needed to be there present with the vehicle. I was told that I didnt have to be present and to just leave the key in cup holder.(so thats what I did). All that was wrong with my suv was a broken CV shaft. Fast forward to the drop off my suv. Now my suv will not move out of park mode. I called to ask what happened to my suv. Dispatch told me the driver said there was NO KEY in the suv. Which was a lie. I have it on camera of me putting the key in the suv, from my work parking lot. I asked for the owner to call me. He never called. So I called back again. All for a man to cuss me out and tell me its not his problem and they didnt break my vehicle. Told me to file a claim through AAA. Like I already didnt plan to. I just thought id Receive some honest answers. If you want to do something right in life, dont get a tow from them. It will cost you more in the end, as my suv now needs a new transmission.
Never had a bad experience with a AAA tow company until now. They took 12 HOURS to tow my car one street over. We put the tow request in at 1209 pm. By 322pm it was assigned to Koskinens. I was called all the way at 1030pm saying we could leave our keys in the car for the driver. My boyfriend left the keys in it as suggested. I tried to stay up as long as I could to wait for the driver, just for them to finally come at 331 am, we were sleep. Woke up at 630am and looked outside to find our car on the wrong side of the road FACING TRAFFIC, sideways sticking out in the road, with our bumper SNAPPED OFF. Oh and blocking the driveway to where my neighbors can barely get out. When I called Koskinens, I was nice ..didn’t yell. Jamie decided he was going to hang up on me, called again & he told me I don’t need to call again that he was calling AAA, and hung up again. I called again to ask for an explanation of what happened with my vehicle and this time a female butted in. She was of NO help at all and they tried to turn the situation around on me & my boyfriend. When Jeremy the tow driver left me a voicemail he didn’t mention anything about snapping our bumper off or any damage. The customer service SUCKS. Not a good look for AAA having a contract with this company. Looking at their recent past reviews, it just shows that I am not the only person that has had trouble with these people. Highly advice that you don’t accept a tow or assistance from them!!!!! If I could give 0 STARS I WOULD!!!
Called them for a jump start. Nobody turned up after 3 hours. I'd suggest you buy a portable jump starter instead of relying on them. Calling them was absolutely useless. Every time they said 20-30 minutes. I was not sure if the person was even alert.
Lewis is a horrible human and employee. Worst experience ever. Was being told with a contract from AAA. This guy shows up 14 hours later. AAA told me I didn’t have to be there. He insisted that I had to be there and made me drive all the way back to where my vehicle was after waiting 7 1/2 hours. Then it was around 8 p.m. He called me and insisted that I went back. I told him we would take 15 minutes to get there. He said that I needed to get there as soon as possible. He would leave. I got there just as he was leaving and refused to tow my vehicle. It took me about 16 minutes to get there with the weather. The worst part is that AAA told me I didn’t need to be there and he insisted that I needed to be there to show him ID. He just didn’t want to do the work because I called AAA afterwards to call another service. In the end, the guy wound up coming at 2:30 in the morning without me having to be there. He told it and took it to the place that needed to be no questions asked. He just called me to ask me why the other driver refused to take my vehicle. I explained to him this whole ordeal and Sal told me that he used to work with Lewis and he was a horrible employee for them and this is why he was let go. You guys are allowing this guy to work for you and he’s causing you to have an even worse reputation. Your reviews on here are not favorable.
They towed my car and it was a nightmare trying to get it back. Neither the address on google maps nor on their website were accurate. I had to Email them to find out where my car went (their lot is at 520 Esty St in Ithaca). Later that night i called them to ask how they towed my car and just to get some more information(their phones weren't working earlier when i tried to get ahold of them), and the guy who answered was extremely rude and defensive. They also had me pay the fee in cash (over $200) and didn't give me any kind of receipt, which just seems weird.
Koskinen's was dispatched by AAA when we hit a deer. They were excellent to work with, and even took the key in and made sure they knew it was delivered at the body so we didn't have to go.
My tow from Koskinen's didn't get added into their system due to their error. When they were contacted about this, theh got it towed immediately. Mistakes happen, its part of the human condition. However, when contacted later regarding anything they could do to fix them having left the car sitting in the wrong mechanic lot for a week, I was told that there was nothing to be done, they had already discounted the tow (something we had not asked for, nor were aware of), had I called earlier, maybe they could have. While I have nothing but praises to sing regarding their dispatch people, im incredibly disappointed that this mistake wasn't caught, and that they offered no remedy for it after the fact. For the same price point, ill use Charlie's from now on, and would urge anyone else to do the same.
Jamie was very rude because they made a mistake. I call to thank them for there attention to situation that took place The car was towed to hunts due to the incompetence of the mechanic. I would suggest you do your home work before any service. I was being nice he he accused me of starting an issue. Wash a jerk he was.
Koskinens answered a Triple A call for me, my car died. Their guy came, slapped on a charge for 3 minutes, then said it wasn't the battery. I asked him if he checked the charge and he said they don't do that. He said it was probably a bad relay and I would lose my catalytic converter.
It was a 95 degree day, I was recovering from a broken foot, and this was NOT helpful. I called Triple A later, for a tow to the dealer for a diagnosis, and luckily Finger Lakes Towing came, checked the charge first, found it was bad, and so charged my vehicle successfully.
I would have made out better with a clown car than koskinens, I trusted them, but don't you!
These guys are awesome. I have used them multiple times for lock outs. They always have gotten there within a very reasonable amount of time and their prices are cheaper than other’s when I called around. The driver was also very friendly and polite. Thanks again!
Koskinen's is awesome. Howard retrieved my car which was blocking a business drive-thru. I was a hot mess and Howard kept a conversation going during the tow to the cars destination. Little does he know he kept me from breaking down into tears. I can't thank you enough for your quick response and professionalism.
Fastest AAA tow trailer have ever had, was literally at my truck in 3 minutes. Quickly diagnosed my issue and got my towed to a local shop. Very friendly.
I was listening to my radio while I was vacuuming my car Which turned out to be a bad idea. The amount of when they would be there turned out to be half the time. The gentleman was very polite and had my car running probably in four minutes. Great service.
I wanted to share our experience that we had today. We were out of town for a Doctor's appointment and our vehicle broke down. The gentleman that we had from this company was an unexpected surprise . He was very kind , polite and funny .He drove us all the way to our garage (hr away)but also gave us a ride to our home about a couple miles away. Saving us money on an Uber. He made this usually miserable stressful situation into any but. By the time we were dropped off at home we were very very grateful not only for the great service but for having the pleasure of meeting such a kind warm authentic soul. Thank you Tim for the service ,the ride and for going out of your way to bring us to our home . Thank you again for everything . I ghly recommend this service especially if you are lucky enough to get Tim.
Rented a Home Depot box truck, stuck in the mud of my backyard. Jamie and Jim were trying their best to pull the truck out, it’s 300feet away from the road. I can tell Jim is experienced, knowing how much weight and the right angel to pull the HD box truck out. Learned some about the soil and towing. Burnt some money to avoid future mistakes to me. And they charged reasonable price.
Called for AAA when they showed up they were very unprofessional and rude. Try to have a conversation with the one operator and the female in the passenger seat was being rude and kept existing they have to leave. Deal with the costumer you have at hand I waited 3 hours for you to show up to do nothing. I has cash in pocket to pay for a truck and they just drove off
Car hit some ice and skidded into a ditch on a steep driveway. They first sent a flatbed with a winch. Assessing the situation the driver realized that pulling the car out would damage it as it needed to be lifted up over a tree stump. He called it in and the owner immediately sent a wrecker. Joe the driver of the wrecker was amazing. Knew exactly what to do. Realized that he would need another truck to hold the car in place and stop it from slipping down the driveway. They sent a second vehicle immediately and got the car free. Amazing service!
Horrible service.. called for a tow service it was an estimate of 74 minutes witch was at 5:00pm, called to speak with someone and didn’t get ahold of anyone from the company phones all went to voicemail or user busy. Called on a different phone number and they picked up on the second call. Took them 4+ hours to tow my vehicle 16.41 miles. The whole time I was getting updates that I would be 25 minutes. After the 1 1/2 called again.. they told me 25 minutes. It’s currently 9:30pm and still no vehicle will STILL being told 25 minutes
So funny story… I hit a beaver on my way to work at 6am. It was raining and dark out, it was February on a warmer day thankfully but they came to tow my car and waited in the rain with me until my ride came. It was super affordable and they are all so nice! Great people and company!!!
We are extremely pleased with the towing services provided by this company. Their commitment to monitoring our parking lots has been exceptional. I highly recommend their services for anyone seeking a towing company that not only enforces parking policies efficiently but also does so with professionalism and courtesy.
Despite their name, we were told that they aren’t really a repair shop by the workers. They hold your vehicle hostage and keep making promises to fix it only to never deliver. If you try to enquire about the status of your car and what work has been done after the two weeks that they’ve had it, they’ll become hostile and evasive. Every time you call, you’ll be met with an angry response about how your vehicle is low priority and that they might get to it tomorrow. When you give up on any hopes of trying to get your car fixed and go to retrieve it yourself, you may find it in a dirty, trash filled garage sitting bumper to bumper with other seemingly forgotten vehicles. When you finally leave with your damaged car, they’ll give you some rude parting words to send you on your way. Oh, and make sure you get a copy of your receipt. It may take 30 minutes of arguing to get it, but it’s worth it to have a copy of your bill for the part replacement you didn’t need. The whole experience was a nightmare from start to finish. Do not take your car here if you value your time, money, and sanity.
Update: The “new” battery they charged me almost $600 for was defective. Had to pay for another one at another garage to replace it.
Update 2: Please be extremely cautious with these people. They have no problem putting their hand on you if you dare to question them or their shady practices. They also have a racial bias & are very happy to make up lies to make themselves look better.
David Bestys, not Amanda. Their drivers are great--used them twice now. But, this second time, whoever answers the phone at the business can be rude, not only to the customers, but to the repair places, too. I was informed that this tow company has been removed from the Chevy Roadside Assistance program because of their attitude. How customers are treated on the phone is as important as how good the service is.
These guys are amazing. So very grateful for their help. Called for a tow,they gave quote.Tow From Ithaca to auburn and said they’d be there as soon as they could. Within 20 minutes the driver Tim called and said he was 7 minutes out. He got there loaded right away and had us home within 42 minutes. And he was so nice working with us on payment as we needed to do part debit,part cash. He took extra time to figure it all out. And then also wrote out a receipt so we could get reimbursed from insurance. We would definitely recommend them and use them again if needed(hopefully not thou,lol) Thank You Tim for everything.
I got into a car accident downtown ithaca. I was a mess that day. It was very scary.. They came got my car answered all my question the lady I spoke with explained everything ask if I was OK and was so sweet. I was very shaken up she really helped. I didn't know exactly what to do. They let me get items from the car the next day and the owner was great. He answered all my calls was super professional even grabbed my plates for me when I forgot. Such a good experiance for a bad situation. There customer service was great and they made me feel like they cared and they were glad I was ok even though they didn't know me. They treated me with such care. I wish to say ty too all the employees who were so amazing and the owner as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Best tow company I have ever dealt with.
