Being a Ford dealer for 67 years, our family always attended the Ford factory sales through Manheim. Our rep at that time use to always show up at our dealership and I would be down at Manheim NY at the factory sale. One time I was there and he was so kind and persistent I had to try it. I have to say it was hook, line and sinker for me. Now State Line Auto Auction is my one and only and I'm never looking back! The other dealers that attend are my friends and the whole Barber family and their dedicated employees are like my own family! I cherish each and every one and if I miss a week or two, I start having State Line withdrawals!!! You're not just another number there, you actually mean something to them no matter how small or large your business is. Thank you for all you do. P.S., when I think of stateline I think of Tina Turner's iconic song Simply the Best!!!!
I have been coming here for years now, one of the best auctions I have ever attended, place is clean, runs efficiently and their staff works hard, are very professional, kind and do what they can to make sure you have no issues and cars sell.
The Barber's(owners) are hands on and are always available to talk to. especially Jeff Barber, he goes out of his way to say high to everyone.
I highly recommend this place to buy and sell your vehicles. I enjoy coming here every week and will continue to come as long as I'm in the car business.
I'm a very small deadlier, State Line Auto Auction has been very helpful advising me every step of the way, in regards to action to take. Employees at State Line are incredible to work with, every step of the way. Fantastic employees at vehicle registration, very familiar with the process and always answer any questions I have. I wish other auctions were as friendly and helpful as STATE LINE AUCTION were your treated like family.
This auction has been around since the beginning of time, and the way the Barber family runs their operation is truly one of a kind. From the moment you walk in the door until the moment you leave, the staff treats you like family. Jeff and his family are genuinely special people, and there aren’t many like them left in this business anymore. Huge props to a well-run, family-owned operation that delivers week after week.

When you have a problem some of there employees will escalate the problem and cause more trouble .
Unfortunately Jeff has to believe what his employees say and they leave out things and Jeff has to make decisions from what he's told from one side .all anyone wants is to be treated fair .after 30 years of doing business 90% of the time you get that .Unfortunately if someone keeps the truth from Jeff and don't tell the complete story .and how they reacted with disrespect to a customer and made the situation worse .Jeff just don't have the time to get involved as deeply as he at one time did .at the end of the day it's a great place to do business I suggest haveing a post sale done if it passes get it a 2 week pay the extra money. If there's any problems don't return the vehicle simply get a number and run it back through in the 2 weeks. In hind sight that's what I should have done my bad .it's not worth complaining .Jeff's a honest man but this totally cuts out the crap get the 2 week guarantee run it with same announcements .no hassle you loose a little money but it's over with out a argument .I wish I learned this years ago.
I recently purchased a vehicle 2017 Ford Tranit from State Line Auto Auction in New York, and I’m extremely disappointed with both the undisclosed severe rust damage and the unprofessional response from management.
The car was sold with no disclosure of rust, yet upon arrival to Florida, it showed major corrosion, especially on [insert areas: frame, underbody, suspension components, etc.], which should have been clearly listed in the condition report or sale notes. This type of rust isn’t cosmetic—it’s structural and safety-related.
When I contacted the auction to address this issue, I was met with dismissiveness. Emily Barber, the auction manager, told me: “My conclusion is that the condition of cars being sold in New York are not up to the standards to suit your needs in Florida.” That response is not only unhelpful—it’s unprofessional. Instead of addressing a legitimate concern about lack of transparency, she made a blanket excuse that essentially blames the buyer for expecting basic standards of disclosure.
Gregg Henderson, the arbitration manager, was equally uncooperative and unwilling to take responsibility for a clearly misrepresented vehicle.
I understand that auction vehicles are often sold as-is, but this one was sold under green light and we we paid for inspection. there’s a line between normal wear and hiding major structural damage. This wasn’t a minor issue—this was a material defect that should’ve disqualified the vehicle from passing through undisclosed.
I’m leaving this review to warn other dealers and buyers: If you’re purchasing from State Line and especially buying remotely, be cautious. Have every car independently inspected if possible, and do not expect arbitration support or honesty from management when problems arise.
This use to be top notch auction have t been there for 7 months because of hospital stay,bought a3700 car had bad frame been arbitrated twice before today I buy it won’t take it back ,now Jeff barber hasbroome county rent. A cops there working there so if your not happy they escort you ,I’ve been going there for 40 years use to be 1000 customers now 400 and he added cops now good luck Jeff your money more important that 40 yr customer,they keep selling rotten frame cars hoping they will stick somebody and I got caught ,would make better junk yard
Very nice trusted auction, very reasonable prices good people. Good workers, and I thank Tom and the rest of the team for their support and helpfulness. This is my go-to auction from now on.
My car came from here the dealer gave me a great deal on chemung Street in Waverly handsome man that sells cars been there for years for life of me can't remember his name but he oh David . Related to lopreste. Go there if need a car beers how could I forget that name Beers on broad Street Waverly
I'd like to update my review. I initially just posted 5 Stars and no reasoning as to why I selected 5 stars. This place has some of the best employees I have ever met. It is almost like they heavily screen their employees. They're some of the greatest people I have met. The people who run this auction are very fair. I am very encouraged to do business here and share with some friends how well this place is ran. There's not many places as a whole as well ran as SLAA as a whole. I highly recommend.
We are from west Africa with a small dealership call Joseph’s vision auto sales LLC in Indianapolis Indiana. The business is touch but it gets little easier when you find a great auction that care about their dealers success. State line is great place for dealers. Ever since we started buying cars from state line, our dealership had been doing very well. State line is out favorite auction now. My brother Joseph Myers loves state line and he talks about them all the time. We are very pleased and happy with every single cars purchased from state line. We plan on doing business with them for many years to come.
We purchased a vehicle that was at State Line Auto Auction and had a shipping company there to grab the vehicle on a Saturday. The vehicle was at an offsite location 30 miles way to have a recall taken care of. When the Management Team told the Owner he personally escorted out shipping company to the vehicle to ensure same day pick up after the recall had been done. The owner called and text from his personal cell phone numerous time throughout the process to ensure we wouldn't be delayed and that the shippers wouldn't miss out on hauling the load.
Incredibly profession and prompt service. Could not recommend more highly and look forward to doing more business with them in the future for this reason!

They received my wife vehicle from Ally bank that was not supposed to be sold just stored at the facility until September , but the auction sold my wife vehicle and giving us the run around because they illegally sold her car. From what i have heard this place has done that to quite a few people and then refuse to assist with getting the vehicle back.
I do not recommend their arbitration policy. Our company purchased a Ford Explorer there and had the vehicle post sale inspected. When the vehicle arrived to our facility, it was found the floor was rotted. They clearly state in the arbitration policy that floor boards are covered. When I called to discuss with a manager they commented that it only applies to unibody. The arbitration policy was not clearly written and based off the attached picture, it is clearly covered. They offered to cover my selling fees which does not help. A resolution to this would be to do good business and take the vehicle back. It simply amazes me on how an organization this large can’t keep a customer happy on one purchase.
what a great place to do business with. I had an opportunity to meet with one of the owners Beth she was so helpful and professional. The sales manager Jim T is johny on the spot for anything you ever need. Very clean, family atmosphere here.
My favorite auction facility bar none. Very helpful staff, clean facility, and a large consignment every week to choose from. Almost forgot free breakfast and exceptional customer service. It just doesn't get any better than that!
I've been coming here for 25 years and of all the auctions I've been to this is by far the best auction in the country! Family owned and operated with the best staff you can find everyone is very professional kind and treats you like part of the family!! Owner Jeff Barber comes out and talks to people and is always smiling one of the kindest men I've ever met!! And the cafeteria has the best home cooked meals with multiple selections different every week and very reasonable price!! If I could and most of the week I am anyway I would run loads in and out of here all week and never go to another auction besides state line ever again!!
