Lied about my vehicle being inspected and sold me a car that had a completely missing part to hold the hatch open, an inopperable AC, and all four brakes that would totally fail within a couple months. Then has the audacity to ask me to come back to pay them more money because they lowballed some estimated cost. I felt taken advantage of as an inexperienced car buyer. Gets you in and out fast to hide their sleezy practices, go somewhere else if you value your money.

I wanted to believe the good reviews could happen to me, and I tried to be proactive and take my car to a third party who did look at the car very thoroughly and tell me what was wrong with it. But what do you expect from a dealership that uses colored compounds and sprays to cover up scratches. More about that later. When I went back to Mackey after the third party inspection, they said they would fix the rear brakes, emergency brake shoes, and the passenger side rear axle seal which was leaking. So I said ok and I would like receipts and proof the work was done. The day I drove away with the car after purchasing it, the starter failed 3 times. I had to get home to my dog so I did not turn around as I am from CT. I brought it to the guy who has worked on my car and all my families cars and explained the situation and told him to check the rear axle seal while he was at it because I was starting to worry that I was going to end up being the bad review. Well a week and $2500 worth of work later I have my car and the mechanic does not think the axle seal was done. They also noted that while some of the paperwork I was given for parts are correct, they said they could also print stuff out like that without actually purchasing the parts. I was sent a picture of my car up on jacks and it does look like the brake pads in the picture are new however my mechanic said an axle seal is a pretty big job to do in a parking lot on jacks of all things. I will have to go back and have that checked since I need the car. (I am editing this review because I have just returned once again from the mechanic who did replace the axle seal and said there was no way it was done before. This could have caused major damage to the car, so it was a pretty crappy thing to lie about fixing, or imply you would fix, but then not disclose that it was not. ) I have not had a satisfactory response from Mackey. I was told the owner was in Florida. I find that hard to believe since its the off season and the track is open. I think its code for Floritoga. Now, just to be clear, i'm sure some of the good reviews are real, and I know that old used cars do break, but Mackey gave me a 90 day warranty that specifically lists the starter as being covered so there should be no need to ghost me unless they are already shady to begin with, see also not fixing the axle seal and not telling me they didn't. In addition, since I was from out of state they did not register my car but gave me a temporary permit, it then took them 10 days to send the title and the bill of sale which they did not send to the Credit Union I secured the loan with, they sent it to me. Thank god the loan officer is a stand up person because they are going to let me hold it while I go through the registration process. In addition I have discovered they also did not replace the rear wiper blade. To me this was not a big deal but on top of all the other things, I feel it needed to be added to the list. Which brings me back to the colored compounds or sprays that I suspect were used to cover up what looks like "Wash Me" written on the drivers side of the car. Again, kids do stupid things and not a big deal but just disclose it. Like the broken volume knob. Dont put the one from the tuner on it to make it look like its fine. I want to be thorough in listing all the things that you might want to know if you were to attempt to buy a car from Mackey auto on Route 9 in Round Lake. If I could I would give no stars. I have now sent all the repairs off to the owner and we will see what the response ends up being. As of August 19th, still no response other than a short email stating I will get a call tomorrow.. I never received that call but I did get another email saying it would be addressed which was August 25th. I have also submitted a claim with the BBB. As of September 15th no check, no call or other response. All paperwork submitted to the NY state AG. As of November 8th no response from Mackey has been received by the NY state AG or myself. January 2026, advised by NYAG to file small claims court.

Sold the car without listing some of the issues it was dealing with (speedometer incorrect For RPM and MPH, ABS not working). Asked them to replace 2 tires That were bald and one of them exploded the first time I filled it up because it had a very visible tear on the inside. It also took forever to get the car legally out of their name due to their Paperwork issues. If you’re looking for the cheapest car Around this is the place.

Had a terrible experience buying my truck from them. Within 2 days of purchase it broke dwn Since I’ve had this truck nothing but problems underneath truck. Spent several thousand dollars so far. Bought it for 12k$. Now I can’t even sell it for 3k $. Entire underneath truck is a nightmare. Wish I could give this place 0 stars Stay clear of this place

The absolute worst place and people I have ever dealt with they literally have no conscience My fiancé got a car from them on September 26th a few days later it has a hard time starting then a few days after that when putting it in reverse it would quit and then went to whenever going into a different gear it would quit. Brought it to a repair shop on October 20th and the mechanic literally said they sold us a headache there’s so much wrong with it crank seal is broke needs a transmission flush sensors are broke the frame is pushed forward and nothing is covered under warranty and you call and talk to the guy at mackeys and the guys says well they’re not going to fix anything and it’s all in what you’ve signed haven’t even made a payment yet and now have to pay for repairs and a laywer do not give them your business worst mistake we have done.

Absolutely Do Not purchase a car from these people. SCAMMERS is what they are. Sold my son a car that's nothing but problem after problem. They don't ever call you back and just give you the run around when you get ahold of someone. I dont know how they are still in business.

They sell lemons that seem fine during test drive but once you buy it things start breaking and going wrong and they clearly fudged the inspection because the license plate lights were out so how did it pass inspection? They’re sketchy and shady avoid this place at all cost

Needed out of my old beater, reached out to Mackey’s automotive and got an immediate response, was very pleased with the staff and helping me pick out the car that met my needs! Would definitely recommend this place and I will absolutely be coming back!

I bought a 2015 subaru crosstrek. Damien made the process not only the easiest I've ever had for buying a car, but he made us feel like part of the Mackey family. He went above and beyond and my payments were lower than my last car! He made sure we were in budget, got what vehicle we wanted and personally shined the wheels, put plates on and all the little touches that mean the world to a buyer. He never up sold us, he was so curious, knowledgeable and gave us many options for vehicles. I highly recommend to everyone including my friends and family to go see Damien and the crew at Mackeys!!! Purchased a 2012 Ram 2500, warning this business is a SCAM. For starters, went for test drive and found multiple issues. Was told some issues were normal for the vehicle(they were not normal) and the rest would get repaired when I purchase the vehicle. So I purchased on December 13, 2024, it is now March 17 and I’ve only had the vehicle in my possession 3 weeks in total since. Some issues have been fixed, but others no. From when I purchased, issues repaired included- Water pump, transmission, steering column, steering box, bearings, axles, brakes, calipers, transmission coolant lines etc. Still outstanding when I drove it off the lot the check engine light comes on every time I pick it up after repaired, traction control light, ABS light, wiring issues and it still drives like crap. Try calling owner to finish repairs, no answer or don’t return calls or email. They get inspections done at the local Jiffy Lube which is part of the Scam. They also have you sign a waiver stating you can sue them right away, RED FLAG. I have gave the chance and been patient, but it’s lawyer time!!!

This place is a joke and I’m regretting ever bringing my family there to buy a car. She purchased the vehicle on Thursday, it wasn’t in the lot, and was supposed to be back on Monday. Monday comes along there’s no car. They cheerfully tell us to call back tomorrow. We called back Tuesday and still no car. They told us to call back Wednesday! STILL NO CAR. We called and asked where our vehicle was and nobody will give us a straight answer. It’s been nothing but a run around from the start and it’s not worth the headache. Stay away from this place. You’ll be happy that you did.

I bought a beautiful 2015 Nissan Pathfinder from these guys…they made everything so easy for me!! They have also stood by their product by doing everything possible to make me happy with it…for example, it had locking lug nuts on all four tires, and I could not find the key in the vehicle nor could I order one…. So they told me to bring it up, leave it for a few days and they would give me a loaner vehicle while they fixed the problem. They got me a new battery when it died right after buying it….they answer all my questions. I even got it for 2 grand under kelly blue book value. I recommend them for your next vehicle purchase!! I’m taking down my 5 star rating. The jeep compass the sold me 2 years ago , I had to junk , they sold me a vehicle with severe frame damage. Since I had no choice I went back to them for another vehicle, a jeep patriot . Good vehicle but wondering how they passed inspection when I’m sitting here looking at a check engine light and there is a parking light out . Do not buy from this place , they are shifty and liars , the biggest being Justin the sales guy . He is a liar do not trust him I do have pictures

My initial experience with Mackey was positive, sale was smooth and simple no hidden fees or gimmicks. I didn’t get the car inspected and decided to have it done by my local mechanic post sale. The check engine light came on the following day. I took it in to my mechanic for the inspection and they found the issue and gave me a quote of $1,200 after I reached out to Mackey it became a negotiation. After about a month of back and forth conversation eventually Mackey made things right and refunded me the amount for the repairs. The car has been good ever since. My only advice to a potential buyer would be to get a third party inspection done prior to purchase.

worst place ever to buy a car they tell you what you want to hear and don't fix anything ,just make it worse and then send you on your way. I got my car a year ago had to bring it back twice so they could "fix" my a/c which they didn't fix I still don't have a/c. They also had my bumpers painted, got there to pick it up and its a different color than the rest of the car, skip to a year later all the pain is coming off it looks trashy and not to mention is a problem to trade it in now. stop lieing to people to steal their money and screw people over ZERO STARS thank for the call back too....

I bought my car from them less 3 weeks ago. Immediately about 2 days later, I noticed the transmission jumping and it having difficulty getting up hills. They tried to make me wait two days to schedule an appointment to even take it in. Then two days later the appointment still wasn't scheduled...They took it in for service after I actually began to cry because I'm a single mother and need to work. I put everything I had into buying this car. They finally took it in for service. I had to yell and explain that it wasn't unreasonable for me to want the issue addressed.They told me the next day to pick it up and it was fixed. I was surprised ...sure it needs a rebuild or new transmission They said it needed a flush and service, and when I asked for an invoice I was told it wasn't ready and needed to be emailed. It’s been a week I called the next day because it began acting up again, they claim they have to make an appointment for the shop. They also don't answer because sales manager is unavailable. I know they're trying to wait out the 30 day warranty. If anything changes I will let you know...but I would certainly as of now say to stay away!!!!!!!! This is absolutely beyond upsetting. Yes, 110,000 miles. Well I guess lemon laws will protect me, it’s funny I was told LAST Monday you were working on the issue and preparing an invoice of the service provided. I have yet to receive a call or any invoice. This issue began and the car was brought in and I addressed these issues with you. But, still since Monday no call, no appointment scheduled. I have two small children you think my transmission and with my recent purchase this would be a little bit of a priority. I'm glad you can respond to my review because you surely can't give a call or be available to answer the phone. I just called again this morning. What are you expecting me to drive it till it breaks down and I can't get to work to pay for it, these issues began weeks ago!!! After awhile and some waiting my transmission was replaced and all seems to be well with my car. Thank you for fixing it. I’m happy I was able to get to work and provide for my kids this Xmas.

Went to the dealership on Saturday and found a nice Nissan Pickup for my wife. Joseph was our salesman and he went over the truck with us, put on a plate and off we went. While out for the drive they ran all our info and in return had decent numbers for us. We agreed and bought the truck. We were going to pick it up on Thursday of the following week after being detailed and everything but the wife’s truck broke down on her way to work Monday. I called Joseph and he said I’ll see what I can do. About 4:30 pm I got a call that the truck was ready and to come get it. They expedited everything and took great care of us. This was by far the fastest, easiest, and friendliest car buy experience I’ve ever had. I highly suggest you go visit Joe and the team!!!

I was in between a rock and a hard place when I reached out to mackeys! Immediately I was greeted by there amazing staff and Joe made the appointment process extremely flexible and upon arriving to the lot, I didn’t feel like a customer, Joe made me feel extremely calm and comfortable and offered amazing advice and guidance throughout the process. I would have never chose a different dealership being a first time car buyer. The vehicle that I went home with was in amazing shape and I haven’t stopped smiling since! Joe is the man and everyone in the Mackey staff is professional and personable couldn’t recommend them more!

I recently located a car I wanted to buy and sent out an email inquiry for it on the AutoTrader Listing Service. Joe P. at Mackey Automotive immediately replied back and connected with me. Other dealer listings did not reply back to me so I went there for a test drive. I'm happy to say that I bought the car. This dealership really has their act together. They had a full range of prices for used cars, and I was able to get exactly what I wanted. There was very little that I had to do as a buyer, and they had most of the process covered on their end. I was able to get an outstanding warranty program there as well. Joe P. was my sales rep for this one and he is right full of personality and skill. I feel like I have made a new friend. This was probably the most painless car purchase I have ever made. Friendly and caring staff is here.

I had a great experience! They ended up paying off the loan for my old vehicle that needed the entire 4wd system replaced, front end work and motor work and rust repair. They got me into a newer and nicer vehicle and even fixed all the issues on that vehicle. The salesman was great. Just a tip for anyone that goes here just make sure you really look over the vehicle you are looking at or take it to a garage to have it looked over.

Pleasant experience purchasing a used vehicle. The salesman Tyler showed me a few different options that fit my priorities and assisted me with test driving a few different models that I was interested in. There was little to no sales pressure and I felt that the prices and value of my trade in were fair. I plan to update this after I have driven the vehicle for a few weeks. *Update: I noticed the truck needed a few things done to it after driving it for a few days. A broken washer fluid sprayer nozzle (which I believe should’ve come up in the NYS inspection) and something was leaking and leaving oily spots on my driveway. I set up a time to bring it by and described the issues I was having. I left the truck with them and was very happy when I got a call to pick it up later that same day. The nozzle was replaced and I was told by a tech that they couldn’t find anything leaking from the engine. He explained to me that the oily residue in my driveway must’ve been from left over lubrication spray (like PB Blaster) dripping down from breaking loose a tight bolt under the vehicle. He said they cleaned up the area and it should be good. This did not seem correct to me because there would’ve had to been an absolutely insane amount of it pooled up somewhere in the underside of the truck to be dripping down three full days and a few hundred miles later after driving it off the lot. He then went on to tell me that it wasn’t oil because they checked the engine and explained that there are many different kinds of fluids in a vehicle and that everyone always assumes its oil when they see stains on their driveway. He also expressed some frustration with the cost of replacing the sprayer nozzle. I explained that I would be bringing it back if it was still leaking fluids after a few days. The tech suggested if it persisted to try and collect the fluid and bring it to them. The very next day there were fresh oil spots again. I crawled under the truck near the spot and was quickly able to locate the source of the problem myself. A completely rusted and horribly rotted out rear strut was leaking oil. I took a few pictures and the following morning brought the truck back to them for a second time. I showed them the pictures that I took of the strut and presented them with some of the fluid I collected as requested. The truck was left there for the remainder of that day and was ready to be picked up the following afternoon. The issue had been resolved and the part replaced.
