Always outstanding customer service. It's great to deal with such a long-standing family business. Very very fair pricing. I totally trust them. I say that about almost no businesses other than them of course 🙂

Brought car on for oil change and inspection having been forewarned that I may need brakes this time. Thankfully, they're honest and fair and said my brakes are still good. I always appreciate that they give heads up about possible upcoming maintenance needs. Never take my car anywhere else.

This place highly highly do not recommend going here. They WILL do work on your car without getting approval from you and on top of all of that they don’t know how to read. The note was left as a back passenger side wheel baring they did the driver side. When I called to tell them they did the wrong side they disagreed and said it was the driver side even though we knew the passenger side was messed up. SO DO NOT GO HERE if I could give zero stars I would. We were also quoted a price that then changed and was bumped up another 300 dollars because they fixed things without asking for approval. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. And the topper on all of it is they parked my truck 3 feet into the bushes and did not apologize when it was brought to their attention. 12/9/25 We spoke with the owner today. Mike was very apologetic when the situation was explained over the phone to him. I was told the situation is being taken very seriously by Mike and his team. Many meetings and actions have been taken on their end to make sure nothing similar happens to others. The owner felt it was right to refund me my money due to the poor experience that I had at his shop. I am happy to know that there are still people are out there that go out of their way to make things right.

I send a huge ThankYou to Gils Garage! Low tire indicator tripped with numbers all over the place. My vehicle was recently at the dealership for a tire rotation and oil change. Thought that would have been checked and adjusted to cold temperature setting. I guess that was one other thing that day Lia missed!! Gil’s took me right in! They’re so nice, remembered me from a visit years ago and I was in and out! And my tires are set correctly!! If I could have given more than 5 stars I would have! You’re exceptional in my book! And you have been each time I needed you. Happy Holidays!! :)

The staff is friendly, courteous and professional. They make sure you understand what they are talking about if further work needs to be done on your car. Never condescending when answering questions. Do not expect customer to be an auto mechanic and know the working of cars.

I found Gils about 40 years ago & have watched it grow from a small service station to the modern, full service car repair station that I trust fully. Gil's family and the very knowledgable & professional staff operate efficiently but personably when you call for an appointment or advice to giving detailed information when the work is complete. Having moved from Glenville to Schenectady 15 years ago I drive by dozens of their competitors to have my beloved 13 year old Mini Cooper impeccably cared for! Thank you Gils for maintaing your excellence in an age of compromise!

Great experience at a great price. I needed new tires mounted and a NYS inspection. They were able to get me in quick and gave me no hassle by providing my own tires. The attention to detail by the tech who work on my vehicle is impressive. The inspection and registration stickers are perfectly parallel to each other and the valve stems on all four tires are aligned to the same spot on each tire. That may seem silly to some, but that kind of detail says a lot about the people Gils employs.

I would not go there again. I was referred to go there for all tire replacement and alignment. It was supposed to be done same day because I brought car with 4 tires but it took over a week. They damaged my cooling line that had to be replaced by them so I had to wait. On top of that, I paid $501 for tire replacement and alignment together. They charged highest rate they could, and acted as if they did nothing wrong. Guy Matt that works there does not keep his word. I can’t deal with people like that and will not bring my other car to this place.

Gil's did any outstanding job on my 1998 Land Cruiser. New front tires and shocks and a new muffler. Plus they fixed some front end issues that I was experiencing. Rides like a dream. Big thank you to the Gil's team!

There’s a reason Gil’s is rated Number 1 for auto service in the Capital Region! From first phone call to pick up, they are a pleasure to work with. Competent, Efficient and reasonably priced-a rare combo these days!

I've had several experiences with Gil's Garage where they had the opportunity to charge me for expensive repairs but instead they found less expensive options. Most recently my 2014 VW Jetta heat stopped working. After evaluating the system they told me the heating core was clogged. They were able to flush the core versus replacing it. This saved me about $700. I trust them completely to give me the best/least expensive option, and fully explain the options, when one exists.

I recently had my 2022 GMC Sierra worked on due to a sensor issue which turned out to be due to worn brake pads. Gil’s was great at communicating the problem when it was found, Dan the mechanic that serviced my vehicle did a great job with his work and I got my truck back in quick fashion. I also got my inspection done while I was there. Would recommend to anyone that is hesitant on who to trust to service their vehicle.

Haven't been to this shop in quite a while as I live further away then I used to. Glad I did, as they were able to address a problem I've had for a few years that multiple other shops couldn't. And the cost was very reasonable.

Professional, courteous and friendly. Prompt appointment scheduling and kept me in the loop on the service of my vehicle. Will definitely return for any services needed and highly recommend them!

Always excellent service. I have been a loyal customer of Gil's for years... and for good reason, the team at Gil's provides honest and trustworthy service. There is no hard sell... they are clear about replacement/wear items and whether or not you can push it out. Yes, you will probably have to drop you car off if it isn't an emergency, but they still turn it around quickly. Gil's clearly does a lot of volume, but that also means they aren't going to nickel-and-dime you. Bottom line: I trust Gil's with my vehicles.

Although we immigrated here 20 years ago, finding a good auto repair shop has always been a headache. The three shops we liked have all closed down. I tried to look for new ones, but it was really difficult. Last week, I used AI technology, and ChatGPT strongly recommended Gil’s. With the online booking, email, and text message confirmations, it was very easy for me to make an appointment even though English is not my first language. On the day of the inspection, I saw that the shop was very clean and tidy, with coffee and bottled water available. I noticed that many customers seemed to be regulars. The inspection went smoothly, and the staff were patient and friendly. Next year, Gil’s will celebrate its 60th anniversary. Although it’s a bit far from my home, I told my wife that from now on, we won’t need to worry about car maintenance anymore—because I’ve finally found a repair shop I’m truly satisfied with. Always an excellent experience dealing with Gil’s Garage. I’ve been brining my vehicles (and my husband’s) to the Burnt Hills location for the last 6 or so years and I’ve never had a bad experience with the customer service received from any employee (special shout out to Matt though) or the work performed. I feel that they are high quality all around. Very knowledgeable and personable. As someone who knows little about mechanics, I appreciate the way things are explained to me without sounding condescending. When work is recommended but not pressured. I feel confident in their advice, while I have felt less than when dealing with other garages. I could go on, but I’ll just say I highly recommend and always suggest Gil’s Garage to any and everyone who mentions needing a garage.

Gil's Garage provides exceptional service. This was my first visit, and I was thoroughly impressed. The staff at reception were warm and professional. I checked in my car for an inspection, left it in their care, and returned later to pick it up without any issues. The entire process was seamless and highly efficient. I will confidently rely on them for all future automotive needs.

My wife and I have been using Gil's Garage for many years. They do great work for a fair price. Besides doing the job right, the family members, most of whom work in the business, are wonderful people. We would not go anywhere else to have work done on our vehicles. We are customers for life!

You will get a knowledgeable person on the phone when you call to schedule an appointment or ask questions about your vehicle needing repair. My family has trusted Gil’s with our vehicles for nearly 60 years, and we have third generation family members who have put their trust in the Gil’s team for their repairs as well. Headline: Took much longer than told, costs MORE than the dealership. Do Not Recommend. I've only taken my car to a non-dealer twice for maintenance, but I was told I would save so much money, so I tried Gil's. With all the great reviews, I thought this place would be perfect. Pros: -Staff is nice -They did not try and up-sell me on anything Cons: -Costs more than the dealership. Was quoted $1125 for replacement of both front suspension struts by the dealer (includes alignment). Gil's was $1095 without alignment, wheel alignment was another $155. -I scheduled the appointment and told them what needed to be done so parts could be ordered (if not in stock). I was told it would be the same day, or maybe the next day if additional parts needed to be ordered. It wasn't ready until the fourth day. I really wanted to like this place. I wanted to move away from having the dealer do everything. But since the cost is the same (if not less) and the dealer will at least give me a courtesy car if it's a longer job, I think Gil's should be a last resort for anyone looking for a nearby mechanic.
