A very interesting military museum. Lots of fascinating exhibits , highly recommended, especially if you’re visiting with boys.

Best to allocate at least 45 minutes to full appreciate the displays and the story behind Westpoint. There are also interactive sections that kids find entertaining while they learn. My fave area’s the one that talks about the education and various physical activities the trainees go through like learning how to go through the obstacle courses, swimming, survival lessons, etc. Make the time to drop by the store also for some souvenirs. Hopefully, can go inside Westpoint itself and watch the drills.

My family and I have been to this place and that the family and I had a wonderful time there this was because to learn about the military history here, and see many things like weapons, pistols, uniforms and others and enjoyed the time there and there were people there looking at those too.

My experience at the West Point Museum was absolutely amazing. The history inside those walls is powerful from the early wars to the more modern conflicts, every exhibit is full of meaning and detail. The collection of guns, uniforms, and historic artifacts is impressive, especially knowing that many soldiers and families personally donated jackets, weapons, and memorabilia. Walking through the museum feels like going back in time and truly understanding the sacrifices made for our country. It’s educational, emotional, and inspiring all at once. I highly recommend the West Point Museum to everyone. Whether you love history, military heritage, or just want to learn something new, this place is a must visit.

I go back at West Police to 1969 then the State Police in the area. I watched the museum grew over the years, until now, it's by far one of the better military museums in the country. Well worth stopping in, about 1/2 hour off the T-way.

A great place to learn the history of America's military academy on the Hudson River. Lots of artifacts such as uniforms and weapons. A very impressive display.

My dad and I just came here to tour the museum. We didn't get to look at the grounds but we visited the museum. The building was under restoration so we had to use the bathrooms in another building. To just see the museum there were no entry requirements. There is no cost either. But the exhibits were very well done. Lots of good stuff to see from different time periods in American history. We really like to look at stuff so it took us about 3 hours to go through both floors that were open. There were exhibits on military history in general, the US Army and of West Point itself. Enjoyed our visit.

Being from Bastogne, Belgium. West Point has always been a place to visit on my list. Not only because Gen. Patton but because of the stories, the courage and I have to say...watching the movie " The Long Gray Line" movie seen many times with grandparents, father and then my own children. It was truly an honor for me to be there. I will come back while visiting family and friends. There is so much more I want to see. Thank you for making me feel welcome and listening to my family stories of their experiences during WWI and WWII. I shall return 😉☺️❤️

Spent hours viewing exhibits - fascinating and informative displays. No admission charge, but they will screen you before allowing you in the grounds. No screening for the Thayer Hotel - had brunch there and it was great!

Amazing museum full of artifacts! It was fun and informative too. My friends and I went from one level to another and we were blown away by how great the masterpieces and all its historical interests. As this was a late review, I remember vividly that the museum was well kept and the staff there were incredIbly friendly. Best of all, the admission was free.

Really nice museum of military artifacts. They had an actual sword that belonged to Napoleon. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of everything. It was free to go in. No tour necessary. Only thing though was the the gift/clothing store. Nice high quality stuff. Hold on to your wallet. Prices are steep.

Excellent tour. Buy your tickets in advance as they sell out. Our tour guide Melanie was great lots of interesting and fun information. Some of the tour is on a bus but there are a couple places to get out and look around. Arrive early or stay longer so you have time to check out the museum and visitors center.

Great museum and visitor center. Free parking and entry. We especially love the two lower levels of weapons large and small. There were bus tours of the campus available for a fee (booked in advanced online). We did not join the tours.

It was a wonderful museum showcasing not just USMA Westpoint but Army history in general. A must-see. Free admission, so no excuse 😊 The gift shop is a good stop too. Knowledgeable and friendly staff working there as well. Take a look around at who is there as well. We spotted a celebrity and 2 political and important military folks.

Really a pleasant surprise! The people working there are very pleasant and helpful. The museum is wonderful. It walks you through the four years a cadet’s journey while at West Point. Check out how you can drive through the campus. Great trip! Don’t miss!

The Museum is currently under renovation. There is a beautiful view of the Hudson River from the full glass wall along the back of the building. The displays are incredible and many. Admission is free, although you may donate to the restoration fund. I highly recommend stopping in to see all the military history exhibits.

Amazing museum that goes through the complete history of West Point. There is ample parking and no security screening unless you are going on a tour of the post. Ie museum and visitor center are available to all. There is a museum store and a west point store that carries all the merchandise and apparel for the army teams.

Must see in NY...it is a well curated museum exhibiting wars, weaponry, and improvements over the decades of human existence. It is free admission to the museum, but there are tours you can pay for that take you thru the entire grounds. You could easily spend a few hours here if you read everything to soak it all in. All ages can enjoy the exhibit most definitely even if it's just to see how weapons have changed over time. Looking at the different wars and what they experienced, it does give a greater sense of appreciation for all veterans who came before and those who are making the commitment now. There a gift shop has a little something for everyone. Make sure you walk with a sweater or jacket because it is FREEZING COLD in here.

Wonderful place to spend an afternoon! We did not do the tour, just went into the free museum to see 4 floors of great displays! Loved it… great historical pieces!

I have been living in NY for the past 5 years but never have I thought that The US Military Academy or commonly known as Westpoint is just within the state. The area has ample space for parking. We went on a Tuesday about noon. On the left of the Museum is the visitor center where you will be able to watch a 10 min video about the history of the USMA. In the building is a display of the famous graduates and a display of what a aspiring cadet has to go through. The is also a Gift shop for some souvenirs but don't expect much they obly cell t-shirts and some class memorabilia. To go in the visitor center is free. The museum had 4 levels divided into different exhibits. A walk through the museum is very informative and fun way of learning the past. What's amazing in going into the museum is for FREE.

Such a great Tour of Hollowed Grounds. Tour guide was excellent with historical facts. We were able to see much of USMA at West Point. The Cadet Chapel is absolutely breathtaking. Worth the visit and tour to see such an honored place.

A fun experience to understand the gray line and what it takes to join and what and how they build future officers to meet the challenges the world may bring. We went in autumn which is also a great time to see the fall foliage.

Outstanding museum, like the perfect example museum as all military-weapons museums should be. Few sections in the museum. Large weapon system, small arms, history of West Point, history of the US Military, history of the US lead wars. Free, very well organized, mostly all exhibits very well explained. Good job, West Point, good job! Very impressive.

Highly recommend a tour here. They’re well organized and have great guides. Tickets can be booked online or bought on site. I booked on line but my schedule changed and I hoped to be able to go on an earlier one. Luckily for us it wasn’t too busy and they allowed us to do that. Grounds are lovely and we picked a great day to go. They now have a beautiful visitor centre compared to when I came a free years ago. The museum visit is also included in the tour. West Point is about the size of the island of Manhattan!

While traveling up US 87 North, we found that we were passing West Point. Having heard so much about it over the years we thought we'd stop and and a look see. Although we didn't actually get on the campus (it was graduation weekend) we were able to go into the Visitor's Center and Museum and what a great experience. The people were super nice and the price was right '0' for the Visitor's Center & Museum, there were bus tours available for a fee. It is a military museum and it had many usual and unusual displays of weaponry, historical tidbits and stories. Its roots go all the way back to 1802 which I thought was pretty amazing. We thought it was well worth the afternoon we spent there and we has the added bonus of the surrounding scenery as well. Attached are just a few of the photo's we captured. Enjoy.
