What clients say about United States Military Academy in West Point (NY)

We stay at the Thayer once or twice a year and we always go to visitor control and get passes to walk on the installation. The second you walk onto the installation you are filled with pride and patriotism. This historical academy has educated some of the finest military leaders and continues to do so today. Trophy point besides having breathtaking views shows how mighty our military is by showcasing cannons that we have taken as "trophies" from armies we have defeated throughout the centuries. You can watch an army sporting event or if you up there on a Sunday in the fall you can watch an army black knights football game. The buildings are imposing and the campus is beautiful. You can walk through the chapels and the cemetery and pay homage to our military heroes who are buried there. There are parts of the campus that are off limits to visitors but if you are on the parade field there is always a lot of cadet activity. The last time I was there they were practicing parachuting from a helicopter that was quick landing on the parade field and picking up more cadets. It was very impressive to watch. You have to make a stop at the West point museum for one of the most impressive collection of militaria that I have ever seen. GO ARMY !

When the nation's premier military academy is censoring professors, then you know this is a sad time for history for America.

My family has a unique inside perspective of West Point beyond the gates of the casual fan or visitor to the military academy. My wife and I are parents to a daughter and future cadet who has given a verbal commitment to play D1 volleyball at West Point. As parents to a future WP recruit/cadet, we were given VIP access to really see West Point up close and personal. The campus is arguably one of the most scenic-breathtaking places in the world. The military academy rest amidst the backdrop of the sprawling Appalachians with the Hudson River as navigational guide and roadmap to endless landmarks and reference to US military history. Everything about West Point is impressive. You almost feel the honor and historical prestige to walk in the exact footsteps of famous military leaders - Washington, Patton, Eisenhower, and McArthur. My daughter spent the night in the barracks, went to class, ate in the mess hall and was even able to watch cadets allign in formation. Oh, did I forget to mention the cadet repelling from a Black Hawk outside the window while we were in the admissions office. West Point, honestly, is unlike any academic institution in the world, save for the other academies. I am beyond honored to be a parent of an incoming cadet to historical West Point.

Amazing visit. Yes, for civilians like us with no connections to USMA, it is possible to tour it only via one of the guided tours. We did the 2:15hrs tour that includes Trophy point, the Chapel and the Cemetery. Our guide was amazing, ex USMA instructor and very passionate about the Army and USMA, he has 3 generations of graduates in his family. The visitor center was really nice, too bad the museum next to the visitor center was closed for construction works. We will be back.

What a great place to visit full of history and significance. It was a lovely tour of West Point, and I really enjoyed seeing where so many big names is our nation's military history have come from. Cannot recommend this enough and if you have the time, it is a must-see location. Also, that this location is near the Hudson River and that CSX freight trains pass through here.

Knowledgeable and interesting guide with many stories & history to share. Although much of the tour was drive thru on a bus, the places we were allowed to explore were great.

My family and I live in West Point currently and I would say that it’s a convenient place for citizens to stop by, and a very nice place for people with even the slightest interest in us history or just the military in general. The stores are nice too I guess…

A national treasure! Parts are left just as they were a few hundred years ago- other parts are as current as a year or so ago. History is everywhere as you could imagine here. In order to see West Point you either have to go in a tour bus or get a pass from under the store to self drive through.

West Point is the first military academy in the United States. It sits in the Hudson Valley at an historically strategic location. It has amazing beautiful views. The history is rich and deep. I highly recommend making a visit.

This is such a fantastic place! I visited there October 2018 and it was such a great trip! West Point is a very special place we're the best of the best are learning to be leaders for our country. Set high up on the Hudson River it's very windy there and was super cold the day I went! I loved roaming around and reading all the historical information available. West Point is proud of our country and our country is proud of West Point!

A must visit if in the area. Easily one of the most beautiful and impressive college campuses in the country. Add in all the history and it can't be beat. The continuous improvement to the grounds and campus is welcome while balancing to the historic nature of the Academy. Beat Navy!

Great experience. Would recommend a guided tour. Beautiful views. A great blend of the past and the present. You get to see current day training as well as artifacts from the history of the United States of America. I didn't know that cannons that fired the first and the last shots of the American civil war are on view on the campus!

Would be 5 stars but lots of paperwork required just to get on campus. Got a chance to visit and the visitor center wasn't open due to a fire alarm. keep in mind the center is only open until 4:15. We did manage to get a guest pass which takes paperwork to get on base and visited the Cadet Chapel, Catholic Chapel, Jewish Chapel. Very beautiful campus. Keep in mind must be a US citizen or you have to take tour bus.

Incredible experience going there with the boy scouts. Private tour by two awesome cadets, a football game, parachute display and the drill parade. The Stadium is modern and aesthetically pleasing. The place is beautiful in the autumn.

One of my favorite places on earth, would recommend going to West Point if you never have before. Its very beautiful campus especially in the fall. The tradition here is second to none. Some of the most amazing men and women in this country attend this school. Football games are always fun here.

Beautiful views and nice place to stroll around looking at cannons. They have a nice amphitheatre and we would like to go back when they have music and fireworks. We heard the guided tour is good and may try that next time as well.

Most beautiful site we visited in NY. My son went on a tour and is now even more dedicated to serving our country. USMA has so much history and some incredible breath taking views.
