The person running the place is extremely rude yelling at people the driveway is to small to hold the cars there yet he wants the line to continue into a road
Staff was rude hollering and even called my husband a racial slur after turning us away due to having 6 glass bottles in a bag out of a total of 8 bags. Very unprofessional. Will never be back to do business
Been coming here for the past few years and usually never have issues besides the long wait times for a couple cars.
The main reason for this review was today when i went to go return about 15-18garbage bags of cans and he told me to get out and help him take the bags out of my car. What?? I told him to look at the sign that says to stay in the car at all times and he said it doesnt matter because he said so. I told him “isnt it your job to get the cans out of my car” and he goes “no its not i can give the bottles back to you and have you leave”. So i helped him, got back into the car, and he tell me to pull outside and wait instead of waiting where i can see them counting it. 3 cars have gone through the line and i am sitting here still writing this review. HIGHLY recommend going somewhere else as this business seems shady and unfriendly. The ONLY benefit is you being able to sit in the car and even then its not a guarantee you will be doing that. Most likely will end up helping them with their work!!
Always liked this place in the past. Today however, I experienced the same issues the recent reviews have been mentioning. Refusal of items and extremely rude customer service. Whoever was working today, 6/7/25, at 10:30 am should have an attitude adjustment. Guess I'm another lost customer.
Normally I have good luck with this location but today was different. I have never brought glass in before and after being brought into the garage I was told they refused to take 2 bags of bottles because there were glass bottles mixed with plastic and metal. I was told this with such an attitude that I will not be returning.
There is no signage stating this no glass mixed with other materials rule and there doesn't seem to be anything on the website about it either.
This of course is after them opening late. So I waited in line for them to open late and tell me they wouldn't even take some of what I brought because they would have to separate the items themselves.
I will take my bottles somewhere with more reliability and consistency going forward.
Not impressed. The last 2 times I was there, after waiting quite a while in line, the guy came out and turned the people waiting away. Today it was just after 4 and they are supposed to be open till 5. There were 4 cars in line. He came out signaling that he was cutting the line off. He took the first 2 cars and turned me and the woman in front of me away after we were waiting. They should take the people in line and put something up to stop additional people from pulling in. And if your sign says your hours are till 5 you should be open till 5. I won't be back.
With all the automation that has been put into this place, it takes forever, everytime! I get lack of staff but so far today! Been here 20 minutes and haven’t moved!! I figured would be busy as it’s lent and a lot of people give up drinking etc but give me a break!! I can count faster!! Unbelievable
I've been going there for quite a few years. Not only you are waiting for a long time, they refused to take my bottles past 4 times for some BS reason. Never again. Go to "5 on it" in New York Mills. People there are nice and you'll be out quickly.
Shittiest place I've ever taken cans and bottles back to they don't count your bottles when they say they count your bottles they give you whatever count they feel like giving you and if you bring them anything over 100 bottles or cans
I will never ever ever ever ever ever go back to that place again that man working there his name is Rochelle I guess was the rudest person I have ever encountered in customer service that was my first time there in years and we had to walk in the Drive-Thru wasn't open he yelled at me because I had a glass bottle in with my plastic containers first then I had a gallon jug mixed in with them as well let me remind everybody that everything was rinsed out the plastic container of milk was also rinsed he screams across milk really milk really he lost the tip and he lost the customer
My first time here since it's not stashes anymore, they turned me away for having to many bottles, told me I could leave them and come back in a couple days. Told him I've been bringing this many for yrs, never had an issue. He laughed in my face, I left, went down the road to the ez return place on bleeker st. Fast, friendly & efficient, with zero issue with the amount.
I just dropped off 40 bags of bottles and cans attendants were very rude telling me 20 oz water bottles are no good. Also stating it may take weeks for me to get paid I've done trips like this in the past and I know there's at least $200 worth there if not more. Let's see how this pans out they are 75 gallon bags as well
Waited in line for 40+ minutes, inching my way up as one car would be processed at a time, then person came out shut the garage door and said we are closed, never allowing all the cars out there a chance to drop off the bottles if they were donating to a cause like me. I indicated I was just dropping g bottles off for a particular cause, no acknowledgement, so i drove to the side door to walk in only to have it locked before i could open it. Poor management and they r very slow, saw at least 3 people working
Usually they're pretty fast, today I've been sitting here for 1 hour and currently still waiting. If I wasn't almost out of gas and broke I'd leave. I'm Pissed off the little white lady comes out to talk to the only person doing the returns, like he's not busy, just talking away,I didn't see anyone offering to help this young man at all. I may come back but my anxiety says no way for now
Quick service. Pull up they open the door, drive in and shut off the car. The workers will take all the cans and bottles out of ur car and send them through a fast can sorting machine. Get paid on the spot in mins and drive out.
Great spot to come bring your bottle returns. All you have to do is pull in and they take it right out of your car. No need to get out! Only negative is that there's always a line so you'll be waiting for a bit but the guys work pretty fast.
they suddenly cant accept mixed bottles & cans even though it was never a problem before. Im annoyed I have to find a new place to go bc this drive thru is convenient if you have the time to separate your return.
Had to wait in a line but I understand the world is short staffed and places are busy... I've waited long at McDonald's for m burger to not be on the bun right no need for people to hate those who actually show up to work and are willing to do a dirty job so we can be lazy... Thank you to the crew.
Your employee was very rude. I walked to return my cans 5 blocks got there door was locked except drive thru. I went the drive through entrance tried to wave to get an employees attention . Did not enter garage. Finally one turned around I pointed at the walk through door and said it's locked. He just ignored me turned back around so I waited same employee finally turned around I once again pointed and yelled the side door is locked he screamed no more walk up. This no way to treat a long time customer, If you are no longer taking walk ups you need to change your signs and your website. Also try answering your phone. I've known Stosh since I was a kid he would never treat customers rudely.
Not sure why people are so picky on here... human nature for some is just to hate if they don't recieve instant gratification. I have gone here for 4 years to recycle, they always provide correct payment amount and work hard and as fast as they can!! For working all day with hands and feet, they are hard working people.
Sometimes the line does get long and can take up to 20ish minutes to get through. But saves the time of doing it yourself, if you aren't patient on the few days it gets busy simply go on a slow day or do the entire work yourself. 4/5 God bless and thanks for your hard work each time.
DO NOT enter from the 5A/5S (Oriskany Blvd) entrance!
Suggestion to the owner, block off the entrance from Oriskany Blvd.
Used to go here all the time until this last visit. Word of advice use the Schuyler St. entrance after Dunkin Donuts.
The bottle return opens at 9:00am so I went to DD first and ordered breakfast at 8:44am as evidenced from attached receipt. I turned right exiting DD (right turn only) and entered the bottle center from Oriskany Blvd. There were three cars ahead of me so no other car would have been able to enter from Oriskany Blvd. I figured I‘d eat breakfast while waiting for them to open. In the meantime, a blue Subaru Outback drove in from the Schuyler St. entrance and parked along side the parking lot so that they could pull in behind me once the vehicles were able to pull forward. Another four or five cars lined up behind the Subaru. I did see a person sitting next to the building when I was at the DD take out window drinking DD coffee (we’ll call this person “Employee#1”) so I figured it was an employee waiting to work.
Well, Once the garage doors opened a guy came out (we’ll call him “Employee 2”), waved the three cars in front of me to move forward except me. I said I was ahead of the Subaru. Employee# 2 said to go to the end of the line from the Schuyler entrance. I said I’ve been here for 15 minutes! Look, here's my dunkin receipt with the time! Employee# 2 asked Employee# 1 if they saw me and they said no. At that point I was furious (for lack of a better word). I said of course Employee# 1 didn’t see me come in from Schuyler St, I came in from Oriskany Blvd. How could Employee# 1 have even seen me if they were sitting there facing Dunkin the whole time and not even looking towards Oriskany Blvd. Employee# 1 never got up to check the lot to see who came in from where. I asked Employee# 2 and Employee# 1 to simply ask the Subaru driver if I was ahead of them, but they didn’t bother. This would have easily solved the issue but they obviously did not care and would not own up to the fact that I was right, and they were wrong.
I’ll chalk it up as lesson learned not to enter from Oriskany Blvd and not to support a flawed business.
I ended going to another bottle center who were friendly and donated the proceeds to a charity instead.
Couldn't be easier. You drive in and they take bottles out of your car. They hand you money and you are on your way. Employees appear to be hard working and always courteous. 5 Stars!
Even when there is a line, it will taper down quickly. The staff count accurately. I miscounted once and they gave me the correct change. I've been going to Stash's for years and never had a wait too long.
Like any other business there are Fast Times and there are slow times.so if you go there at the wrong time of day be prepared to wait. Whether you're on foot or in a vehicle.
I'm not sure how the counting is done there but it is apparently often inaccurate. If you count out, for example, 100 cans or bottles. The receipt you receive at the end of your transaction May indicate a higher or lower number. So sometimes they pay you too much, sometimes they pay you too little.
