Road trips with kids always suck, they are even worse when you break down. Thanks for being there when we needed you guys, and being great with everybody (and there’s a lot of us ?)
Above and beyond goes to A1 Charlie’s towing.I was Traveling to SC to visit family and hit something on the road. Looked up online tow service near me and when I called he asked if I was ok and said he would be heading out to me. When he got there I was relieved and was able to get back on the road fast. If I could give them 10 stars I would.
I give A-1 Charlie's 5 stars. He came out and saved my son that was stranded within 30 minutes of calling him in a storm. My son was waiting 5 hours for a tow truck from AAA. After 5 hours AAA told him he had to call a tow truck company on his own because they could not get him a truck. My son called A-1 Charlie's at 11:40pm and by 12:10am he was at my son's location. I would 100% recommend him
My car broke down on Merrick Ave and this was the second place I called. When I called I got an immediate answer and the person on the other line helped me get the tow easy and seamlessly. Texted me for my address and a tow arrived in less than 15 minutes! Process was nice and simple and the person who towed my car was very personable and funny. If I were to get stuck on the side of the road, I know who to call!!
Started my Florida road trip off on a GREAT NOTE! This man came out at 1am on a Monday to bring me a Jack and wrench.. I’m so grateful. Great guy great attitude (even at 1am) & with a great price. Thank you so much! I highly recommend !
They obviously aren't with the times.... their driver didn't wear a mask when driving my car, I was greeted with a tow truck that smelled like a fresh blunt was smoked and then they dont have a proper charging service so you have to call back 10 to 20 times just to get someone to finally answer and then read them your card info over the phone. They are dated and obviously not that well run. Wouldn't recommend if it was the last tow service.
I had issues getting my account information for AAA after my car battery died at the veterinary office. I called a dispatch service while my phone was at 3% charge and they sent a truck from A1 Charlie's. My phone had died at this point or was charging so slowly it didn't register so I was just happy to see the truck had found me.
1st warning: the driver did not wear a mask at any point of the "service"
2nd warning: the equipment had exposed wires.
I ignored the warning and let the driver look at my car. After a few attempts, the driver took the charger to his truck and sat there for about ten minutes. The second attempt to jump my car failed and the driver said that it was a dead battery.
My phone had finally charged a bit and I was able to contact aaa again and found my account number.
The tow driver then informed me that for driving out and not performing the service I needed, I would be charged $150 plus tax, adding up to $169.
After some arguing, I finally relented and gave them my payment information (solely to get the driver to leave me alone). After a bit of waiting, AAA truck came and SUCCESSFULLY JUMPED MY CAR. In less than 10 minutes.
I then called A1 Charlie's to I tell them that my car battery was the issue and it had been jumped and I requested a refund of the $169. The man I spoke to refused and I told him I would dispute the charges. He then threatened me and said he knew where I lived.
Moral of the story: AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE COVID-19. I will be continuing in my attempt to reclaim my money. They do not deserve it, as they did not perform the service I requested either due to incompetence or their equipment but functioning.
Showed up 2 days late for the pick up, with no phone call telling me they would be delayed.....finally got it picked up and took almost 2 weeks to receive the car. (NY to FL)...I made sure to leave barely quarter a tank of gas when the car was picked up and noted the mileage. Upon delivery, the car had more than 150 more miles on it and the gas pump light was on meaning I had low gas...avoid these clowns at all cost. I didn't make a stink because of all the bad reviews and was happy to have the car back un-damaged. Never again
CAN YOU GIVE MINUS STARS? Car was 12 days late, showed up damaged, of course in the fine print they weren't responsible for AND they drove it the final 50 miles, instead of door to door on truck....stay away, stay far away....
Top experience twice with Charlie and co. First class service, helped me out twice when I needed it and communication is top notch. I’ve found in towing there is some bad business but these guys are always honest and priced right. Great and highly recommend
WARNING!!! DO NOT USE THESE CON-MEN TO TRANSPORT YOUR CAR ANYWHERE! They will extort you our of more money than agreed upon and use your car as ransom. They damaged the front and back of my very expensive car during transport form Florida to NYC and then their obnoxious delivery guy refused to document the damage upon delivery. These people are incompetent crooks and should not ben in business. BEWARE!!!!

Tow truck arrived in 16 mins from phone call. Fast car hookup and fairly priced (125 for car hookup and 5 for each mile driven). Great service. Highly recommend
CHARLIE AND BRIAN from A1 CHARLIE TRANSPORT are the most RUDEST, DISRESPECTFUL, SCAMING, UNPROFESSIONAL people I have ever delt with. My car got picked up thursday night for transport from New York to Florida and it was promised to be delivered on Monday. That was a lie!! MY car wasn't even on its way to Florida, my vehicle was still in thier yard waiting to be transported. At that point me and my dad was very upset, so my dad called BRAIN AND CHARLIE and told them he is going to pick up the vehicle from Thier yard CHARLIE AND BRIAN told my father the only way they were releasing the car to him was if he paid them $200!! Are they CRAZY!!!! They promised my car would be here by Monday and when monday came the car didn't even leave New York!!! It was Thier fault and they are trying to charge us because Thier service sucks. Finally we come to an agreement the car would be delivered to my house on Tuesday. Tuesday came no car. Me and my dad had to call CHARLIE AND BRIAN about 30 times just to get an answer on where our car was. Finally they said the car is in route it will be there wesnday. GUESS WHAT???? WENSDAY CAME STILL NO CAR!!! SO me and my dad call them another 30 40 times on wensday, just to be told the car will be delivered on Thursday. Finally thursday came and the car arrived at 3:45 pm. CHARLIE did not want to bring my car into my complex even tho it was on the delivery agreement. CHARLIE SAID THE ONLY WAY I WILL BRING YOUR CAR IN YOUR COMPLEX IS IF YOU PAY ME ANOTHER $200 ON TOP OF THE $475 I HAD TO GIVE HIM. I told him he was crazy and I wasn't paying anymore money for this poor, horrible, disgusting service. Finally I got CHARLIE DRIVER TO BRING MY CAR IN. I PAID THE GUY AND THEY LEFT. Now I checking the fluids to the car and I go to put coolant in the car and it came pouring out the ratiator. AT THIS POINT I AM LIVID BECAUSE I KNOW MY FATHER WOULD SEND A BROKEN CAR 1000 MILES TO ME. THESE PEOPLE PURPOSELY DAMAGED MY CAR!!!!!!!! CHARLIE AND BRIAN OF A1 CHARLIE TRANSPORT YOU TO ARE INHUMAN AND A DISGRACE TO HUMANITY AND I HOPE SOMEONE SCAMS THEM THE WAY THEY SCAM THIER CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!

Damaged my car during transport and refuse to take responsibility. they forced us to receive the car at dark so we cannot see the dame.
charlie is rude and don't really care. they are only here for your money. customer satisfaction is not in their vocabulary.
