So, I’ve lived in Elma for literally over 25 years. I have been going to the transfer station since I could drive. I’ve seen the same people working there since I can remember, most everyone has been chill there. However, I went today and was approached by someone who I’ve not seen there before. I am unloading my trash out of my truck as I normally do. Listening to music. This person in an orange shirt starts talking in my direction. So I pause my music and ask them to restate what they were saying. They asked me
?: Do you live here(Elma)?
?: Yes, I do.
?: Okay, I didn’t see your window sticker. I haven’t seen you around here before.
?: *My window sticker being in the same spot since my family bought our truck in 2010. In fact, had this person look directly to the left of me they would have seen my sticker* I’ve been living here for 29 years so…
?: Okay, just checking to make sure.
I walk away to go recycle a jug and I see this person check over my vehicle. Didn’t once see them ask anyone else if they lived here or have a sticker. I left a photo of myself to see if someone could tell me what makes it seem like “I don’t live here.” Maybe it’s the bleach stains. ?
I have used the transfer station for 20 years, well run and clean. That being said, one employee has decided that he doesn't like that i place my flattened cardboard in a pile, as opposed to spreading it out. Perhaps a misunderstanding, but it seems this particular fellow has decided my cardboard is a problem.
Helps keep our taxes low and recycling on the spot for almost everything. Plus they make mulch from trees, shrubs etc. that are brought in from the town. Great example of how to do it right. Other towns should follow.
