After selling my husband a battery and telling him they can install it in our RV the manager came out and said they don’t do RV installs. We did it ourselves and then they yelled at me for telling them I hoped they were proud of themselves since it clearly says FREE BATTERY INSTALLATION twice on their windows and on the website. There were three 20 somethings standing in their air conditioning watch a 79 year old man and his 67 year old wife install a battery they could barely lift together. But we did it and they can kiss the rear end of our RV as we pull out of the lot.
Purchased rotors for my vehicle in Ct and they gave me the wrong parts. Brought them to Sidney ny location and got a refund. Then ordered rear brakes and rotors for the the vehicle. I paid for the whole order which came out to $175.00 with the 20% discount. When I came back to pick them up they were the wrong ones. I asked for a refund and they said they could only give me $156.00 back because they said that was what I paid and I said look at my receipt it shows i paid $200.00 cash and received 25 dollars change and they insisted that I only paid $156.00. And the difference was because of the 20% discount. I said that makes no sense and when I paid for the order they said the pads were instock and the $156.00 was for the rotors ordered.so they were finally going to give me the $156.00 and said I would have to come back and take it up with the sales girl and manager for the difference. I said fine but I asked for the salesman to add up the 156.00 plus 55.00 for the pads showing on the receipt and they did and it came out to 212.00 total before discount. And after the 20% total amount was $175.00 which is what I paid showing on the receipt. So they said ok we will give you a refund after arguing with them for a half hour and they said we have to give you $212.00 back after several times I told them I only paid $175.00. I wasn't going to argue anymore because obviously they had no mathematical skills whatsoever!!so I let them over pay me and I left!!.I will never go back to this store again!! Totally rude, argumentative and incompetent!! I'll go to auto zone across the street.
Shawn was great! We had just got a new battery for our truck in Maine at an Advance store, but it had less cranking amps to start the truck than what is suggested, so it would start, but a few days later while pulling our RV for several hours, the truck wouldn't start after we stopped for gas without a jump. I called Shawn from the gas station. He said if I could get to his store in Sidney, NY, he could probably help us. We made it to the store, and true to his word, Shawn swapped out our under amped battery for one recommended for our truck. Advance is lucky to have a customer focused manager like Shawn, and we were blessed to have met him! PS. He knows a thing or two about cars!!
At least one member is a clear liar. He doesn't understand their own policies. He likes quoting they have one but doesnt even know what it says. He kept interrupting my wife and then thought it was funny and lied. Better off going to the new Autozone across the street.
Needed some windshield washer fluid , I like the rainx brand. Walked in the front door and there is was, every kind you could think of. Good price, quick service. I was like ya! So glad I stopped, as I was out of fluid and every where else don't have any.
The store said they could change a car battery and my 17 yr old daughter got there and they said they won't change it. Really it's a 3 min job what has this world and the work epic come to where they will / might leave a 17 yr old wondering what to do. This father is so pissed that I can't stop.
The employees hid in the back and had to be asked for help by another staff member.
Then when Middleton I think his name was made my experience feel like I screwed up his day and I was a hassle.
All I was getting was wheel studs.
I won't go back!!
Sidney store # 6489. This place needs to get there act together...Door sign says 9am opening time, sat there waited till 9:15 this past Sunday morning, no one came. A store counter person was also waiting to get in. How about getting some help?
Sorry, long review/rant. The store normally has a steady supply of most parts for most makes and models on site. Some specific parts may have to be ordeeed and shipped to store. Veey impressed with the stock they have. From K&N Air Filters/kits to Royal Purple Oil, they have a decent selection. But there are some cons I have a hard time getting by. Most employees have little to no knowledge about vehicles. There also has been a change in management. The new manager doesn't seem all that enthusiastic about being there. I waited in line for quite some time while an employee talked to a customer. I understand making sure you have good relationships with your customers. But 10 mins? Then after the manager was done with a customer that was trying to find a specific part, instead of calling me over, he calls a guy who just walked up to line. I always try to find the good in my reviews, but holy cow!
We were broken down and limped our truck to Advanced Auto Parts. Informed Tyler that our truck was disabled and we were 2 hours from home. Without hesitation he said he'd take a look at it. He recognized the broken part (idler wheel) got us the idler wheel and serpentine belt. Provided tools and assistance to replace both. This kind of exceptional customer service is rare these days. In an hour we were back on our way. We are forever grateful for Tyler's help and caring for other people.
IV just called the sidney ny store 5 times in a row and no one answered the phone. I know that there not that busy and there three people working. That's why I stopped getting parts there most of the people that work there don't know anything about cars!
Be careful getting Volkswagen parts from here they give you the wrong part twice and the third time on 2 different occasions and parts we ended up going to the location on river street for the part having to be ordered but finally was correct
I was driving back to visit family after a death in the family when my driver side windshield wiper flew off 45 minutes into a 4 hour drive. I got off the highway and stopped here for a new one. The employee offered to install it for me, which I accepted since I obviously installed it wrong the last time. Turns out, my car takes a very specific wiper blade. But we didn’t figure that out until two employees and three different wiper blades. The man who helped me apologized multiple times for it taking a while, but still focused on getting me the correct item I needed, and installed it for me with a smile, I was in no way upset that it was taking a few extra minutes. Amazing service, kind employees, and one happy customer.
I love this Advance, although I drive an older car (22 years old) they usually have things like brake pads and sometimes (last time only one) rotors in stock. But most things you can have ordered and I believe it comes the next day or something or just shipped to your house usually for free, cause if your car is broke, it's probably not gonna be cheap
Employee could not read a receipt for a pickup of parts. Saw the word hub and handed me the only one they had. Wrong brand and quantity. Employees also do not check or verify orders that were ordered the previous day so I definitely recommend calling ahead to save you a trip because 9 times out of 10 it's a huge disappointment with this location.
Ordered 2 of the exact same ball joint both drive works but i got one drive works and one moog this is the second time they did this. What should i expect from a place that hires people that dont know anything about cars or car parts
Bought a battery. They charged $173.00. When I immediately took it back after making a phone call.. they offered to sell it to me for $99. I said NO. Purchased the same battery at parts plus in Walton for $69. These people.in sidney are a RIP off and if they think they can screw you they will.
They were friendly and helpful, but sent me home with the wrong brake rotors. I had to go back and exchange them at another location, actually 2 since the first one only had the front one's.
Had to order parts , they weren't in stock. Told me it'd be in Saturday AM, so stopped and check to get an emphatic Sorry check after 1 PM. Really AA get your act together
Good guys, fast service, little more expensive then some other parts stores. Could have a better inventory, they will have a selection of options for a part but usually only one option in stock.
Great local Advance auto parts. We were passing through and our wiper flew off in heavy rain and wind. The gentleman who helped us was funny and quickly replaced our wipers after we realized the remaining wiper was frozen on. We're very appreciative and definitely recommend this location to anyone in a similar circumstance.
