I came here to do a carco inspection and initially I was intimidated by the amount of activity happening but the gentleman in the front was highly organized and so personable. He made sure to both be efficient vut also took the time to speak to everyone personally. Honestly, some of the best customer service I’ve seen in a car shop…ever

Someone else said it but I’m going to say it again. DO NOT COME IN FOR AN INSURANCE INSPECTION. I wish I could give this ZERO stars. I was 6 mos pregnant and came in to get my car inspected for USAA. I’ve had them for almost 20 yrs and have done this numerous times with different places for different cars. As a matter of fact this place did my previous inspection with no issue in 2023 but I don’t know if they are hard pressed for cash these days but this time the guy asked me for a tip which was weird since Ive never had that happen before... not even in this location. So I just pretend not to hear him cuz that’s ridiculous and he asks again but this time throws in that he has to do a bunch of paperwork. Sir if you guys don’t want to provide this service THEN DONT. Stop trying to hustle customers. Then today USAA tells me they dropped my collision coverage because this guy never submitted the inspection so i had unknowingly been riding around for months with only liability. DO NOT GO IN FOR YOUR INSPECTION. I don’t know what happened between the time they inspected my Mercedes in 2023 and now but something isn’t right.

Just went in to get insurance photos for State Farm. Eddie was very polite, friendly and helpful. Whole process took about 15 minutes, and there were 2 inspections ahead of me. I will readily go back the next time I need photos. Everyone, please be aware that the insurance companies pay either a nominal fee or nothing to the shops that do these inspections.....they are primarily providing a service and working for tips. I was aware of this because I have friends in the industry, but many people are not. I am grateful that Dependable is still willing to do this as so many shops are not.

‼️DON'T GO FOR INSURANCE INSPECTION‼️ Today, I visited Dependable Auto Collision in Rahway for a Geico-required vehicle inspection. Geico had listed this shop on their website as an approved inspection site, and since they accepted walk-ins, I decided to drive 15 miles to get this done. Before heading out, I called the shop to confirm availability, and they assured me I could walk in any time before 6:00 p.m. However, what followed was an extremely uncomfortable and disappointing experience. As soon as I arrived, the first thing the staff member asked was, "Are you carrying any cash?" This caught me off guard because the Geico inspection is a free-of-cost service. When I asked why, he casually responded, "I work like a waiter—I work for tips." I was shocked. I had never experienced or expected this kind of behavior from a Geico-approved vendor. He proceeded to carry out the inspection, which included taking photos of my car, requesting my vehicle registration, driver’s license, and phone number. Once done, he again asked for cash or digital payment via Zelle, Venmo, or CashApp. I told him I wasn’t carrying any cash and was not comfortable tipping for a service that’s already supposed to be free. He responded that the "report takes 30 minutes to type up" and implied that a tip would help compensate for that effort. This felt like a clear case of coercion or guilt-tripping customers into tipping, which is completely inappropriate for a service that's officially part of an insurance policy process. This was not what I expected, and frankly, it was a horrible and unprofessional experience. I am very disappointed that a reputable company like Geico has a partner engaged in this kind of behavior. I plan to report this incident to Geico directly and strongly advise others against using this location for their inspections until this issue is properly addressed. Customers should not be put in a position where they feel pressured or shamed into paying "tips" for an insurance-mandated service. This kind of malpractice needs to be taken seriously. UPDATE – SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT I was disheartened—but not entirely surprised—to read the response from Dependable Auto Collision regarding my recent experience at their Rahway location. Unfortunately, their reply is filled with false and defamatory statements, which I feel compelled to correct for the sake of truth and transparency. Let me clarify a few key facts: I visited the shop alone. There was no one with me—not a “husband” or anyone else. I’m not gay, so the fabricated mention of “me and my husband” is a complete falsehood and a bizarre attempt to deflect from the real issue. The shop was nearly empty when I visited on a weekday afternoon. Only two people were present: one technician working in the garage and one person who interacted with me. There were no other customers, and I never entered the garage area. I was in the office the entire time, so the claim that I was asked to leave a hazardous area is completely inaccurate. At no point did I use foul language, nor did I act aggressively. What I did express was disappointment and concern over being asked—multiple times—for a tip for a free service provided through Geico. I never demanded to be served first, as there was no one ahead of me. The irony is that all of these false accusations could easily be disproven by the business’s own CCTV footage, which I invite them to review before making further baseless claims. What’s most troubling is that rather than addressing my feedback professionally, the business has chosen to malign a customer’s character—simply for holding them accountable. This speaks volumes about their customer service philosophy and integrity. At this point, I feel this matter should be elevated. I will be contacting Geico and, if necessary, filing a formal complaint with their corporate office or the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Customers deserve honesty and respect—not personal attacks when raising valid concerns.

Recently came in for a picture inspection for insurance. I was driving in from Brooklyn and with the traffic it took 2.5 hours and it was getting close to close. Spoke to Eddie and he went out of his way to wait for me to get it taken care of that day instead of having to make the trek again the next day. Can't thank him enough for it. Also, as others have mentioned, can't beat having a cute cat greeting customers at the shop.

PLEASE DO NOT PAY DEPENDABLE AUTO USING CASH. Learn from my $1700+ debacle. I dropped my car off on 5/1/25. I needed a water pump and thermostat replaced. I'd previously given a $450 cash deposit for parts and told the job would be no more than an extra $600 or so. I got a call from Eddie the same day saying that while they had my engine "taken apart" they realized I had a hole in my radiator and it needed to be replaced. Fine. I received another call from him the same day that a hose also needed replacing. Fine. My new total became $1250 (on top of the deposit). On 5/6 he told my vehicle was ready. When I got there I paid my balance and went to my car. The car ran for about 5 seconds and shut off which it had never done before. The check engine light was also on, another first. Fast forward to Friday, 5/9 and two more failed pick up attempts (one of which included me taking the car and bringing it right back because the engine was sputtering and the check engine light came right back on), same check engine light and sputtering issue. I was asked to take the vehicle home and return it on 5/12 (red flag). Enough. On 5/12 I asked for a partial refund so that I could take my car elsewhere since they could not undo their "fix". Eddie actually offered to return the full amount or at least "work something out" but said he needed to get a quick email approval from his bosses since according to him, they might say I didn't give Dependable a chance to fully remedy the same issue that they'd already spent 8 days working on. He promised I'd get an answer that same day. Even asked for my email address (redacted) so that I could be cc'd on their communications. Never happened. He was also having a meeting with his "bosses" that same night and would speak to them directly. More than 4 days later, and a proactive follow up attempt, of course nothing. I've attached a text chain but there's other proof. I paid cash because Eddie told me it'd get me a better rate. I've since paid to have the car repaired elsewhere. In one day. Thankful for a ram in the bush. PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF WHEN DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS SHOP AND DO NOT PAY WITH CASH. You won't have full buyer protection. I'd used them about 2 years ago with no issue. This time was an absolute horrendous experience.

I went here for an insurance photo inspection and was pleasantly surprised. Eddie was super friendly, efficient, and made the whole process easy and enjoyable. His great attitude—and his adorable cat—made it a standout experience. Highly recommend for any car inspection needs!

Had an excellent experience coming to this shop. Would recommend anyone who needs work done to their car to check them out. 1st time came in for an inspection for my auto Insurance for my Tesla model 3 and my guy Edward took care of me. (Please tip him) Had such a great experience that I came back today to replace my cabin filters and tire rotation. Excellent service and will be coming back here moving forward.

I recently went here for a photo inspection required by my insurance, and I have to say, it was a surprisingly pleasant experience! Eddie, the person who helped me, was super friendly and had a great sense of humor, which really made the whole process smooth and easy. He thanked me for my patience and made sure everything went quickly without any hassle. Plus, he had an adorable cat hanging around, which was a fun little bonus. Overall, the service was excellent—Eddie definitely went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of. Highly recommend this place if you need any kind of car inspection!

You suck at fixing cars and your rentals suck as well, I remember I was going to take y'all to court too get my money back, you fix my car by the time I got too Linden it broke down thank God I was next too a mechanic and they told me you did nothing too my car.. when I went too the police station they told me y'all suck and y'all had plenty complaints. So I would never have my car service there again and I will never rent another car from there... I hope you comprehend this time...

I came in for an inspection for my car due to switching my insurance. The owner Mr. Hogan was so friendly, respectful and very efficient! I was in and out in about 20 min with no issues. Initially, I was apprehensive due to the negative reviews, however the owner was nothing but hospitable and kind. I would definitely recommend here and I will be going back!

This is the most disgusting, unprofessional auto shop I’ve ever set foot in. I went in for a simple vehicle inspection, and the mechanic threatened me when I questioned their ridiculous fees! He became aggressive and hostile, raising his voice and trying to intimidate me into paying for services I didn’t need. It felt like I was being extorted! I’ve never experienced anything so outrageous in my life. This place is a complete scam, run by bullies who try to prey on unsuspecting customers. Stay far, far away if you value your safety and peace of mind!

Rip off !!! Stay away !!! Junk yard rescued cars. Update to owner reply! My licence has never been suspended! You rented me a car that ran poorly had a inspection sticker that was 2 years over due and you changed the price when I returned the car with extra fees. This was 5 years ago and remember it like it was yesterday!

Until he decided to acknowledge me.. at the end he switched up and tried to randomly be nice by telling us to have a great weekend ? Horrible attitude, no customer service

They have no clue on how to fix cars. The ower/manager is very good on talking. Be aware. I took my car there on March 2023. Believe me or not, he kept my car there for 35 days, guessing what the problem was. Replaced parts but nothing worked. At last, he told me to replace the computer. He bought an used computer from a junk that didn't work obviously. He finally gave up. He said he wasn't able to fix it. I payed 1,710 for that computer, 85 to fix the parking sensor ( that wasn't fixed), + labor, + other parts replaced. Total 2,547 I took my car from that place to a reliable dealership. At the dealer, when they did inspection, they found out scratches and the car was so dirty inside. THEY FIXED IT. They replaced the junk computer to a new one. I returned the junk computer to Dependable Auto Scammers and asked for a refund. The manager said he would return it and give me the refund next Monday. He never did and stopped replying to my texts. I'm taking them to court. Stay away from that place. This is all the truth. Anything they reply here is a lie.

I really do not understand the reviews. My experience was amazing. when I called to make an appointment they told me what I would need. When I walked in the woman at the desk was very professional and pleasant. I gave them the information they requested over the phone and I was out of there within five minutes. I was given a beautiful SUV. They even have a tag so that you can go to a local car wash and have the car washed for free if you choose. The gentleman that show me to the car, explained everything in detail about the car. I highly recommend this company. Personally, I would choose them over any rental company I have used in the past.

So a few months ago rented a car and was also told that my credit card would not be charged. on a thurs night not even a full day car had no gas in it engine light on and rejection sticker no good so i went back to get another car i was told to come back later for about 3 days couldn't get another car .i was also told that they would take a couple days off my bill so the next following morning bring the car back gave me a bill over 3hundred dollars . charged my card in full so i went back every day for over 2weeks no refund and was given the run around gave me a number to a cell and told me it was the corporate office no answer back from cell after 3 or 4 messages Still no refund i would never recommend renting a car hear not safe and u would get ripped off. Defenitly making a complaint with the better business bruea and also taking pictures of this site and company to explain the same situation on social media . i know people in this town that im very sure they wouldn't want a business like this in our town very unhappy about this and would do anything so this doesn't happen to anyone else if u read the reviews it seem like it did happen before with only black customers sad

Showed up a half an hour before closing to rent a car. They said "Sure we have great cars and their rates but they will call me back in an hour and to wait by my phone." Still waiting for the call! If they did not want the business they should have told me right away so I could go somewhere else instead of wasting my time to get a ride there and them to turn me away.

If you need a car from point a to point be. Not a fancy car rental. But it's also no fuss no worries about a credit check or putting down a huge deposit. The manager ed is very nice and professional. If you need a car to just get around town for the day but I wouldn't take the car out to state it's very costly when you do.

They were simply AWESOME!! I need a car right away. Ed JR. Helped me immensely allowed me a van for a week. We were so impressed with the price the service and everything. We saw his father in the Edison location and purchased one of the cars they had for sale. Such a wonderful experience. I was never ripped off everything was out in the open. I was picked up at my home the van was clean topped off and ran like a top. I was very impressed. I'll recommend these guys to everyone.
