It's been quite awhile since this happened however it doesn't change the fact it did. Went with a family member who grew up and recommendes this place to scrap my roughly 12 ft of copper cable from my old hot tub and I was actually robbed by the company!!. Cable was taken (estimated to be worth several hundred dollars at least) and was given $10 and told too bad thats all and the service window was closed. I would've reported to the police if I thought it was worth my time and nevermind it's Paterson so good luck with any kind of caring response considering all of the other ongoing crime in the area. Nothing can change the fact this happened nor do I expect any compensation whatsoever, however perhaps I can save someone else from a similar situation. I would give 0 stars if possible and shame on this business and those employees involved at the time.
Rude and disrespectful. As soon as they heard a female voice they hung up on me. Called back right away just to give them the benefit of the doubt and they hung up yet again. Took my business elsewhere.

Will lie to you about the type of steel you bring. I have my worker bring about 300 lbs. of 316 Stainless Steel there and they told him this was standard steel and paid $0.085/lb. They should have paid $0.55/ lb. We should have gotten $165, but they gave us $35. They will steal from you. Do not trust them.
So the experience isn't bad thank God some people are willing to help you complete the transaction...
Step 1: drive on scale to weigh vehicle.
2: find an area to dump metal
3: go to office and tell them what you drive. They give you a slip with a barcode.
4: take barcoded slip to their ATM and press any button then scan the code (area is in the air at top of window not marked).
5: take your cash and leave.
Easy peasy, simple as that...good luck
Remember there are people who do this for a living and if you're in their way they give you nasty looks. Those are the ones who are willing to help you get out of their way...lol

I would recommend this place to anyone trying to get rid of scrap metal.
Unless you have all your things separated by brass, copper, lead or whatever other metals you may have they will give you a hard time. If you have Solder, paint, insulation still on the pipes your bringing in they will give you a hard time.
A pleasant experience. If you have a truck load you will be weighed on the big scale. Smaller amounts on the scale inside. You get a ticket and use the machine to get your cash. Simple. This place is the real deal.
These guys run a smooth operation, in and out quick and a pleasure to deal with. Its nice to go to a yard where i can actually see my copper weights and get paid great prices for. Well done! i'll be going to United Scrap only from here on.
Complete rip off. Been scraping for over 10 years and have never meet a worse staff. They seem either to be ignore or do not know what they are doing or could careless. I tend to believe all three.
The employee's where awesome, I unfortunately didn't get any names but everyone inside the office and the yard were super cool and helpful. They were patient with us and we ended up getting a decent price for our scrap. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area.
The Spanish worker at the scale was very rude. He was talking on his phone with an ear piece so you don’t know if he is trying tell you something or carrying on with his personal conversation. The owner was also dry. What ever happened to customer service or greating your customers with a smile. After all if it weren’t for customers their would be no business. I would caution everyone to go elsewhere until they learn how to treat their customers.
I did my homework and researched the metal prices online. I prepped my scrap metal. I cut off the solder joints from my copper pipe separating #1 from # 2. I walked into the office and showed the office manager the prices and he said right off the bat "I'll match those prices". The scale workers were helpful and there was no haggling on metal type or category. I got my weight receipt and got paid immediately. I wish all my transactions were this straight forward.
