They take your stuff and then pay you what they want too the weights and measure police should pay them a unexpected visit

i have been going to sonnys for months now and my buddy an i brought brass there and the first time we went i was paid $2.30 a pound then i went back with the same kind of brass just a lot more of it an he only gave me $2.00 a pound instead of the original price but he didnt tell me about the price change until after i had unloaded it and then he had dropped it off in the back of his ware house then he tried makin up some BS and tried tellin me that he will give me the rest of the money im Owed if his buyer gives him a better price..... im sorry but i really loved comin to sonnys an i always recommended his Business to everyone i know but now that this sketchy bs has happend i have informed everyone i know and they will no longer be going there ever again i also heard that he puts things under his scale so that it dosnt give an accurate reading im sorry but that is just bad for Business as well if that is actually true but until i am givin my $600 that im owed i will no longer be going there an neither will my buddies

I been going to sonnys every week for almost 5 months bringing him my aluminum from the company we work for and never had a problem. Guys are cool and helpful. Never would complain about that place until today. Today me and my buddy legit got scumbagged by sonny himself. We had a large amount of brass. We were told brass paid a certain amount per pound. My co worker arrived with what was 2448lbs when we weighed it on the scale at our company. Sonny came out and inspected what we had and said nothing but "when you gona bring the rest" we dumped all our buckets and bins into a cardboard box sonnys provided us seeing as out brass is tiny little pieces only after we get all of it in his box and after he takes it in his shop, weighs it and puts it away does he come out and call us to the side to tell us because there's oil on the metal he's deducting .30 a pound. On the entire load if there was 1 quart of oil on the metal it would be a lot. He waited till after the work of dumping it was done instead of being honest and making us aware of the deduction before hand probably because he new we would have went elsewhere. This is bad business practice. I feel like we were scumbagged. We chose to stay loyal to one scrap guy so we drove every week past 2 other scrap yards to him. The promise of paying the the most was key. Who would drive past the place 3 miles from ur home that pays 2.25 a pound to go 30 miles to a guy who says they will pay 2.30 a pound and at the last second cut .30 a pound off our haul. This man is willing to give up roughly 1000 pounds of aluminum a week to keep over 600 dollars of our money. Again bad business. We went to him despite the rumors of scales being tampered with, despite being warned that "the old man will cut corners on what's owed to you" we took that as just jealous other scrap yards that want our business and were spreading false rumors. Again I would have never believed that judging the caliber of people there. All stand up guys, nice, respectful, helpful. Then there's still a 340 difference in pounds from our scale at the job to there scale. To generously justify this difference we assume all that missed the truck during loading and unloading and what stuck in the bags ect ect. I am genuinely shocked how this man can just decide he's going to cut what he's going to pay someone. If you have more than a little bit of metal I can only suggest you pay attention to every detail of the transaction to ensure you get every penny you rightfully have coming to you. Don't be the next person to pay hundreds of dollars for a lesson on bad business.

My dad starting going there quite a few years back and we deal with brass he lives in tuckerton and I live in Burlington county. He used to deal with Sonny's faithfully and I dealt with a junkyard down here. And my dad said come down to where I go at Sony's junkyard in waretown you'll like them prices beat most other junk yards and their overall real good people. So I tried them I like the prices and I like sunny and his workers. Now my father just passed on and because they always took good care of my dad he was 92 when he passed. It's a 35 minute ride from my house to Sonny's junkyard but they really do treat you right. And a man is only as good as his word. And because of my dad was very happy going to them. And I seen it for myself them taking care of my 92 year old dad when he went there once a week. Believe me if you go to any other junkyard and see the prices and how they treat you. Then please go to Sonny's junkyard in waretown New Jersey and see how nice it is to go there you get better prices no attitudes and they're very fast we're getting you in and out. I love this place! Sonny's is fast paced and noisy. Old metal banging around. Separate your aluminum and stainless from your regular steel. Into a cart or bin depending on what you have, up to the scale. No idea what pricing is based on. Once you're weighed the guy peels some bills off a stack and off you go. I like it because it keeps my scrap out of the garbage stream. It's a great experience .

Was much better when the Dad was running it.. seems like they're trying to get over on some people which is wrong especially for those that are regulars..

Great guy I've known him since I've been a kid been around sprap metal my whole life honest place and pricing

we bring aluminum from our above ground Pool 18x9x48 they gave us only $8 for all of it, and the 2 guy took our recite and they talk secretly far away to us and we didn't get the recite so until now im thinking THEY CHEAT US.

The only scrap place i go to, even my buddy from brick comes down just because their prices are so much better than anywhere else, highly recomend

My favorite place to turn garbage into Cash.. pretty friendly guys compared to other recycling joints.

Great prices it's a pop and son ran scrap place and they are some of the nicest classiest guys you cab deal with very fair prices compared to alot if crook shops 👍

Can’t say just brought in cast iron (about 100 lbs good condition) was told it was worth $5.00 Came home did some research and saw it was about $20.00 all I can say is DO NOT rely on them to tell you what it’s worth!!! Cannot be trusted

The guys at Sonny's have always been great to me. I'm in a wheelchair so when I come in with scrap I always ask them to unload it from my car for me. They have always been happy to do that for me.

I've been dealing with Sonny and his crew for several years now and I've never had a bad experience. They have the best prices for aluminum, stainless steel, copper, brass, insulated wire, etc. and not only are they quick, they are thorough. They have weekend hours, which is very helpful, since most places are only open during work hours during the week and that makes it hard for anyone with a regular job. Don't bother taking mild steel or light iron here unless you just want to dump it bc they don't really like dealing with it and they pay accordingly, i.e. not very well. Overall, I highly recommend

Usually in an out quick I feel they have fair pricing on small scale most time seems there better then other places around they are really not into steel an iron which is the big scale also another cool thing is they are open on Sunday from 7-12 no one else is

Fair prices merely trying to keep up with the supply and demand of the given metals. Sometimes they disappoint but they can't control what things are worth at any moment based on statistics out of their power. Most times we're pleasantly surprised and satisfied.

They are the highest as far as your copper , aluminum , brass , but yea they don't really deal w light iron they look at it and give you a price everything else they weight

Sonny's has always been good to me and they've always paid good prices on copper.

i am a regular scrapper and i live in barnegat today i decided to give them a try everyone i spoke to told me they were great and had great prices. I went there today and got ripped the hell of i wouldn't recommend them to anyone at all i had a decent load on my truck and all they did is put it in a dumpster and then walked away the guy come out with 15 bucks and says thanks i asked if they were going to weigh the load they told me no cause it wasnt worth more than 15 bucks so now i know not to use them for any reason at all
