Love the Pep Boys in Parlin, NJ. You can tell that everybody is really paying attention to your car and make you are aware of what is needed to be fixed right away. Shout out to Joe, Doug, and Laura. They all meet you with a warm greeting and friendly atmosphere.

Took my car there 8 months ago for oil change and Evap system code, they changed a bunch of parts for evap system, last week the light came back on so I had it checked again,evap codes were back. So I took it back Tuesday night for a Wednesday morning appointment for oil change and brakes (which was noted as needed on last report from them). When I dropped off car Doug was very rude and seemed very dismissive. I was nice as I also work in Customer service and know what it's like to be alone &overwhelmed. I let it go. About an hour after appointment time I got a text to follow for service updates. Nobody called me all day, upon inspection they listed a bunch of evap related repairs so my husband called and told them a few were under warranty from last time.The woman said she told Tech and they would change it since under warranty. I got a email that Since I was working did not see until after they closed. Waited until 12:30 today(Thursday) to call since still NOBODY had called me! I asked what was done &was told purge valve was replaced and only when I asked about the oil change did he say yes it was done. Never touched the brakes!! Again rushed off the phone. I literally was sent into anxiety attack dealing with idiots! My husband called back an hour later to ask and was told everything was fine. That the purge valve fixed all the problems. Even when we picked up the car the guy at counter told us they didn't find anything wrong with the brakes and the PV controls alot of the electronic devices in car. I had to walk out before I went ballistic on him. So 8 months ago you told me I needed rotors and brakes. Yesterday on their diagnostic report it said brakes were wearing uneven ly. Now suddenly it's all fixed because you changed a valve?I just paid and left.will go somewhere else for my brake repair before they fail and someone gets hurt!

Laura and her team were incredibly kind, knowledgeable and helpful with explaining what was wrong with my vehicle and the best course of action to take for repairs. I was extremely distressed when I came in and was immediately put at ease. 12/10 recommend.

Went for rim & tire install. The technicians had no idea what they are doing. They made me order extra parts overnight and provided wrong measurements. Service manager Joe was kids but needs to verify info his techs are providing instead of arguing with the customer. I went to Mr. Tire across the street and they were able to complete the job without any issues. I had all the correct and required parts! Complete waste of my time!!

I visited Pep Boys in Parlin for an oil change using high-mileage synthetic oil. However, I was informed that they didn’t have that specific oil and only had regular synthetic oil. Additionally, I mentioned that one of my tires was losing air. I have the Road Hazard Warranty, Doug the front desk guy told me I need to call Carteret location for the warranty, something they have done before without me intervening, with a bad actitude. He said they would check it, but later contacted me to say that the tire had two punctures, one of which was on the sidewall, necessitating a full replacement. They quoted me $910 for the 4 tires saying that my car is awd and they all need to be replaced, the 910$ is including the credit for the old tire. Supposed they were 5/32 in front and 6/32 on the back, despite the fact that my tires still had plenty of tread left. They claimed that the tires were nearly bald, which was simply not true. I have photos to prove the actual condition of the tires.I told him I don't have the money, so they left it the same way it was. However, upon inspecting the tire myself, I found that the puncture was not on the sidewall as they claimed, but on the tread, and the tire was actually in good condition. Furthermore, the customer service was extremely poor, and he Doug " funny guy", not to call him another name, were not willing to assist me at all. I ended up having to fix the tire myself. Overall, my experience was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this location.

They deserve negative stars. Dropped truck off Friday with an appointment for Saturday for brakes. I was asked if it’s OK if it runs into Sunday which I said no problem. It is going on 7 days no one called with updates and I’ve had to call several times with no answers,ETA or timeline on when I can get vehicle back. It’s wild the lack of customer service or even courtesy with this location. Recommend taking you vehicle somewhere else for repairs

I walked in without an appointment and was helped by Josh at the front desk. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible. I needed to change the headlight on my Mercedes. He gave me a very fair price (esp. compared to the dealership). I made my appointment for the next day and it took the exact time quoted (1 hour). I waited in the lobby while the job was being done. Highly recommend!

Great experience at the store today. Team was friendly and accommodating. Reviewed my SUV to be sure I was safe and received honest service with no pressure to buy anything. Definitely recommend and will be returning for future service and maintenance.

Do Not go to Pep Boys in Old Bridge.. They have not fixed my Brake Fluid Leakage on Rear Passenger side and recommended to replace Caliper and EPB Motor after one day they insist me to change Driver side as well so i have agreed to change the caliper and EPB both sides.. also they suggested for Brake flush and i agreed.. as soon work is done and car is ready for pickup when i sat in the car Brake is still spongy and hitting the floor what kind of labor work they did and charged me 455$ . and i didnt have hopes to leave my car again.. so i took to diff mechanic and they showed both Rear oil leakage on control arm and Tire.. bottom line is i have to again spend hundreds of dollar again.. i highly recommend near old bridge family not to visit and waste their money..

My mother brought her car to this Pep Boys for a routine oil change, and they drained the transmission fluid and overfilled the engine oil causing major damage. The vehicle had to be taken to the dealership for a transmission replacement. I have been trying for weeks to get basic written documentation of what happened, get the rental car fully covered until the vehicle is back on our hands. Today 12/9/25 I called the shop simply to ask for the contact information of a manager or corporate contact or to get the claim processor to call me back, nothing about the incident itself. And the employee answering the phone told me they “received an email from HR saying they can’t discuss the incident”, Then he abruptly hung up on me twice. I wasn’t asking for details or discussing the situation-just trying to get directed to someone who could actually help. No customer should be treated like this especially after the shop makes a serious mistake. Still waiting for proper communication and accountability from Pep Boys.

What was wrong with my experience was I wanted to buy a set of tires that was on sale and your web site said they were in stock at my location so I scheduled an appointment for the next days to buy tires.When I arrived for my appointment i was told the tires were not in stock and that they could not order more and i was offered no rain check or comparable discount on another set of tires. This is typical bait and switch tactics, i personally would have went to a different tire shop but since my child drives this car and at my wife’s suggestion so she can sleep at night I bought a pair of tires anyway. What you are doing right is sending reports and updates via text messages.

They have all these appointments online, but won't allow you to book. Then you call and they say they have no appointments available. Woman who answered said it's above her pay grade and they've told IT over a year ago with no resolution. Pathetic. Be better.

Would put a zero, got an alignment from them and they bent both of my tire rods. One them ended up breaking. They are terrible don’t come here!

I went to Pep Boys to have my tires replaced and an alignment done. After the service, I asked for the printout from the alignment machine and noticed several values highlighted in red. When I asked the lady at the counter about it, she told me that if something feels off, I could just come back and they would fix it. Two days later, while driving, my front wheel went out of alignment and the rod holding the wheel broke. The car became almost uncontrollable, and I was lucky not to get into an accident. A certified mechanic later inspected the vehicle and explained that Pep Boys started adjusting the front alignment before the rear, which is incorrect, and in the process they damaged and broke the rod holding the wheel. The rear alignment was never done. I had to tow my car to a dealership, where it’s now waiting for repairs. What Pep Boys did was a serious act of negligence that could have caused a life-threatening situation. This location shows a dangerous lack of professionalism and competence. I strongly recommend avoiding this shop – it’s not worth risking your safety just to save a few dollars.

I had my worst experience with this place. I got my oil changed here for the first and of course last time. They change oil and screwed the plate to site that any other mechanic cannot unscrew it. I have tried three different places to get my oil changed this time but all are saying that it’s too tight. They cannot get it off. They don’t know what they’re doing. secondly, they updated incorrect miles on my car . Now Carfax shows incorrect mileage for my car because of their mistake and they cannot correct it. Honestly, never go to this place or you gonna be screwed up as well.

Girlfriend called to get an appointment to get her car fixed. Two things she needs done. She asked how long it would take. The guy gave her half half answer which putting weights on a tire and balancing it shouldn’t take that long and you should be able to get an estimate on how long that will takeespecially with an appointment. The next thing she asked for was an appointment to get her camshaft actuator exhaust replaced coming in with the part already we googled it literally just needs a socket wrench a screwdriver and a torque wrench. I almost did it myself but she wants it done by a mechanic. Anyway it says it can take 30 minutes to an hour, the guy that picked up the phone, Joe said that she would need to drop her car off all day. I know it’s because she’s a girl who called and but it’s absolutely ridiculous. Why do these people think we can’t easily look up how much things should cost how long things should take and what kind of job it is that we’re coming in for, it’s a new day and age of technology. They need to get with the program. My girl wants to go back, but they lost my business. Also called and spoke to him about something else he rude as all get out, you working in customer service bud. It’s your job to be nice and get my business. We were nice to you!

I had a 12 o'clock appointment for 4 tires mounted balanced supplied the tires. I arrived at 1145 and was told it would be an hour and a half installation and to return at 130. After returning at 130 I was told it would be a half hour longer so I waited another 45 minutes before asking for an update. I was then told my car had just been put on the lift and it would be quick. That was at 2:15 I waited another hour and 15 minutes for the job to be completed. So a total of 3 and a half hours to do 4 tires is crazy. I would not recommend using this location they either don't have the staff to keep up with the work or are just very slow. Either way to have a customer wait 3 and 1/2 hours for tires is unprofessional and then have no explanation when they inquire on what is taking so long just drives business away. I surely would not use or recommend this pepboys to anyone.

From making the appointment, to dropping off my car and getting updates on my brake services everything was great. And the cashier was so nice and helped with coupons and explain my warranty she was great! Thank you! Would definitely recommend.

They really take the time to confirm what the actual issue is, and they will not do work that is not needed. I called and suggested I may need an alignment in addition to the work being performed and they test drove my vehicle twice and confirmed it wasn't needed. Doug is a true professional and I recommend this location to anyone who needs quality service. Thank you. Follow up. Went back again and as per usual they fit me into their busy Sunday schedule short notice and accommodated my service requests. DOUG is the best!

Couldn't have had a better experience! I would trust Laura to lead a small army the way she runs the store. She is professional, excellent communicator, and most importantly a leader. Went in for an oil change, came out with an oil change. No hidden fees or miscellaneous things that they will tell you need to be done. The technician there goes above and beyond with the inspection as well. He knows what he is talking about. I would recommend everyone to go here! 5 stars for Laura and her team!

Came in to mount 4 tires on my new wheels. I told the tech the wheels were new and that I would appreciate if they did there best to keep them that way. I got an email my car was ready about 2 hours later. I went to pick my car up and all 4 wheels were slightly nicked. I understand that tools need to touch the wheels and it can happen. I also had a nice size scrape along the face of the wheel. I addressed the tech and he said he would call corporate. I decided to go back and see if they could rectify the situation by refunding me the install. They stated that corporate would need to issue a PO and that I would have to leave my wheel with them so they could get it refinished. I asked if they had another wheel or car I could use in the mean time. They stated I could use my spare wheel. Why would I drive around on a donut? That's meant to get you home in case of a emergency. Extremely unhappy with the whole situation. Avoid this store at all cost.

I had an issue with my 2009 Toyota Camry this morning — the RPM was going up and down, the car was hard to drive, and it kept shutting off at stop signs and intersections. Since it was Sunday, most auto shops were closed. Thankfully, I found Pep Boys open and met Doug there. Even though the master technician wasn’t in, Doug took the time to check out the problem. He quickly diagnosed that a broken engine vacuum pipe was causing the issue. The part was unavailable at nearby stores (either closed or out of stock), but Doug went out of his way to get a temporary replacement from his own shop. He fixed the issue in just 20 minutes and had me back on the road. Doug was incredibly helpful, quick, and resourceful — I truly appreciate his support and dedication. Highly recommend!

Went to pep boys today to see if I could get I a bulb put in my headlight, Laura told me that I would have to wait two hours. Would that be OK? And unfortunately I couldn’t wait today. I asked her if I could come back tomorrow after work she said yes, but the technician Doug came out and And asked me where my car was so I showed him in the parking lot he said pop your hood he proceeded to take the bulb out and go into the store and get a new bulb came back out and replaced it all in a matter of five minutes I asked Doug how much do I owe him he said nothing. I am so appreciative of their kindness And how they took care of my headlight right away , pep boys is a excellent place to take your car For the Auto care that you may need , Thank you again Doug and Laura !!

Wasted my time. They had the vehicle for 5 hours only for me to call in to find out the mechanic can’t hear the noise that I will drive home hearing. Also, they couldn’t solve an apparent problem so avoid this shop at all costs. Clueless and lazy techs.

Went to Pep Boys in Old Bridge NJ Gate Way Mall. The attendant at the front was very friendly and polite. Had an appointment at 5:30pm for tire installation was taken immediately tires were done in 1hr. Great service from STAFF they are the front liner. Thank you front liner you guys make the make. Adding to my previous post I had a small issue with one of my tires that I had bought at pepboys the ussue had nothing to do with pepboys. I did a walk in explained my situation the gentleman at the front desk Doug looked me up in the computer explain they only had one mechanic 2 people were there waiting already I would have a little wait. It did not take long at all my brand new tire only 5 days old had a nail 🤦♀️. But no problem Doug came out explain and said but the manager Angelo who was the one who originally took care of me when I bought my 4 tires the week before he is replacing your tire and all I had to pay was the installation fee. WHAT I was a happy camper. Thank you Doug and Angelo. Awesome service and your wait time is very little compare to other places I have gone. So if you are in the neighborhood need tires go visit them Oldbridge NJ rt 9. If I can give them more than 5 star I would give 100 plus.
