What clients say about Whitesbog Historic Village in Browns Mills (NJ)

It's an area that was home to a cranberry farm, so there were bogs there. Interesting history of NJ bogs and cranberry farming. The kids enjoyed the hiking and the parents were able to watch and walk without worry. Two women came to ride their horses there and the kids, (8 of my grandkids) really liked them. They were trained horses and knew children. We fed them some apples and the horses were great. Fun time all around.

Super educational tour of historical cranberry bog operations. The tour guide was fantastic, & answered all our additional questions. The little store was well stocked. We were a little disappointed there werent vendors with cranberry bakery products, as we purposely came on the Cranberry Festival Day. The tour made up for it, since we had never been here before.

The cranberry tour was interesting but unfortunately no harvest was taking place. Its really a shame that the village cant better coordinate the tours with harvest activity as people do really want to see it in action. There is plenty to see around the village and the bogs and some nice tasty treats in the general store. Tour says 1 hour..ours was 2..so plan accordingly. Tour was well done.

Went over the weekend to walk, hike there and did the newest interpretive nature trail where you scan the code on the new signs to listen to the beautiful melodies. It was well thought out the trail and I greatly appreciate!

Went to see the Cranberry harvesting only to learn when we arrived that harvest was canceled for that day. It’s very disappointing they can’t let visitors know in advance - harvest days are limited and tickets to witness it only open a few times each season.

Whitesbog has a lot to offer - great trails in woods and around cranberry bogs, birdwatching, historical village and museum, old fashioned general store, and on the day we were there for the fall festival, some live music and a few local vendors. And it's free.

A piece of cranberry and blueberry history in the New Jersey Pines. A great place to check out.

I love this place so much! The history, the beauty, the peacefulness. I'm not super in shape, so I only walked the wider marked trails but it was enjoyable. They have a lot of cool events as well!

Very kind people and full of wild life and history! Great trails to ride my mini bike

Very charming little gem in the pine barrens well worth the visit. There was a string band playing folk tunes which I adored. There's a well maintained trail leading to Elizabeth's Garden with lots of moss and greenery and blueberries! The blueberry field wasn't growing much when I visited unfortunately. It's still a working farm it seems so the cranberry fields are off limits. You could tell the local folks really take care of the place.

Beautiful place. Off the beaten path. A piece of history that i hope stays preserved for future generations to enjoy.

One of the best hiking experiences in Pine Barrens if you like a combination of blueberry/cranberry bogs and pine woods. Franklin Parker preserve is quite similar but reverts to more wild state with time since bogs there are not maintained.

This is a really nice place . it has lots of trails little bridges and paths that are well maintained. Its nice to walk and read the markers along the way. It has a general store to get a snack and a drink and a really nice little museum.

I found Whitesbog very quaint peaceful and interesting. The mini tour was informative learning about the cranberry bogs which were almost ready to harvest The General store brought several childhood memories back and all volunteers were happy friendly and gave excellent history of the Village.

The best of what NJ has to offer. I'm biased because I used to be a cranberry farmer. Hope you drink Oceanspray.

Excellent place to take a walk, within the multiple lakes for cranberry growing all placed within a grid of sandy roads snaking in and out of pine forests. Wonderful for wildlife observation and just a peaceful environ enveloping you within a natural and peaceful wrapping. As a musician I also appreciate the many events that Whitesbog puts on, the Blueberry Festival as well as monthly ad hoc music circle jamming "Blueberry Jam" where I have met many wonderful friends and colleagues. Whitesbog is run by ethical and dedicated staff - worthy of your time and attention.

There's a small parking lot, maybe around 20 cars. The historic village itself consisted of quite a few small buildings. We went mostly to pick blueberries at the blueberry field though which was free.

Whitesbog Historic Village is a very cool spot. It contains a lot of New Jersey history and some Native American History as well. Went as part of a field trip and their staff managed to keep 100 kids entertained! They were very excited for their upcoming blueberry festival.

A group (SJODC) hike to spot Tundra Swans! So beautiful. So cold! Lovely. Able to find 2 couples (4 mated swans) floating in cold, cold water. Too far out to capture on photos (my 6s plus phone freezing up due to the cold). Worth the hike to see them. They fly south to winter either along the Atlantic or over to California. Whitesbog is a great place to explore!

Absolutely stunning place to hike and explore! Clean, well maintained trails, lots to see, very clean composting toilet available. Walking along the bogs is amazing, be sure to keep an eye out for the beautiful Tundra Swans! We were lucky enough to see several (unfortunately too far out to get pictures of.)

Great place to walk your dogs, hack your horses, or just drive around the bogs. Very quaint village. The roads are dirt and covered with pot holes but haven't had any problem with my tiny coupe!

This is my most favorite place to hike. The general store has wonderful salsa and chutney made with cranberries. It's very picturesque and in December the tundras swan come and stay until March. It's a wonderful place to bring your dog on leash and enjoy the beauty of the woods

This Historic Preservation Trust and Village is a turn back in time! The Historic Buildings, Cranberry Bogs, Reservoirs, Blueberry Farm Fields and Hiking Trails are so beautiful! So much History at this Gem in Browns Mills and a must see, but please respect its beauty and charm. The wildlife is exceptional as well!
