What clients say about Wallis Sands Beach in New Rye (NH)

Lovely. Big parking lot. No bathrooms or trash cans off season. Less dogs than Pirates Cove Beach but still mindless and rude dog owners assuming every single human adores dogs. Pirates Cove Beach is dogs wonderland. Highlight recommended, specifically for millions of weddings photographers looking for golden hour opportunities.

Our favorite NH beach ever since college. Watch the tide schedule so you can walk the beautiful beach.

There are two listings in Google Maps for Wallis Sands Beach ?️. One is for the state park and the other is for the beach ⛱️ itself. I have been visiting Wallis Sands since I was a kid! You could not keep me from swimming ? in the water ? during the summer ? even after I watched "Jaws" ? on television ?. I would sometimes bring my dog ? for a walk here in the off season. I believe Wallis Sands extendes past the small jetty. The State Park has the main building with a concession booth and shower ?/ changing rooms. According to the Rye Historical Society, there was a Wallis family that owned a farm in the area, hence the name. You have three options for parking ?️. There is the cliff overlook along RT 1A. It is a popular spot for fishing ?. There is a one hour time limit. Remember to use your parking brake. I have seen a car that went over when I was a kid. The second is the parking lot at the Wallis Sands State Park. It is expensive ? and they will lock ? the gate in the evening. The third ? is along one side of RT 1A. It is free ? but I don't know if there is a time limit. Be good at parallel parking! My last visit I encountered a huge amount of seaweed along the shore. It is unusual to encounter that. I will always recommend a visit! ?

You have to reserve a parking spot online, cannot do it day of. Very disappointed to show up from driving out of state, seeing half the lot empty, and getting turned away. Ended up driving south a bit on Ocean Dr. to Rye Town Beach across from Ray’s Seafood and so glad we did, free parking- practically empty. You just have to climb over the large rock barricade to get to it.

This has to be the nicest beach on the New Hampshire coast. It gets busy, but nothing compared to Hampton beach. There's plenty of sand to find a nice sunbathing spot. There's a big parking lot, so you don't have to worry about finding a car parking space. $15 for all day parking.

This beach is the perfect size for families with young children who dislike large and crowded beaches! Water is beautiful and so is the scenery. The people are very nice too. Love coming here with my family!

Nice beach with parking nearby! Has showers, walkways. Nice waves and blue water, little cold in July evening. Weird that the parking spot closes as 8 pm and you get citation if you’re still parked after 8 pm.

Wallis Sands Beach was a nice spot to visit. There was plenty of parking nearby. The beach was fairly busy when we went, but still very clean and well maintained. It had a mix of ocean and rocky coastline that makes it feel really scenic and relaxing.

A beautiful beach to visit in the off-season. While I have no doubt during the summer it can become crowded very quickly, the almost empty beach was perfect on an April morning. The public lot is left open, and you can park for free. However, the facilities are not open, and there is no life guard on duty. Despite the lack of amenities, it was still worth the trip. The beach lives up to its name, and unlike many other rocky beaches along the coast, the sand is dense and perfect for a long walk. I recommend visiting this beach when in the area.

Such a relaxing place and beautiful Scenery no matter the time of year. I love sitting on the rocks while watching and listening to the waves. Do be aware though the water is ALWAYS freezing even in the summer I swear ???

Perfect location for a day at the beach with Picturesque views. Easily accessible for everyone. Benches available, beautiful green lawn, clean sandy beach, gradual/level entry to the ocean. Nice bathhouse with showers and little shop with snacks.

By far the best beach I’ve been to in NH so far! Not too crowded, beautiful drive through a nice neighborhood, pretty houses along the beach, and overall a more private feel!

We love this beach especially in the off season as it’s not crowded. @adventuredogsblueandchunk have had such fun running the perfect amount of beach. Really happy we got so many photos taken while we got our exercise in along with socializing for both the boys and their human. Made some really great friends that shared our same love for dogs and all things ocean! Any chance we can we’re on our way!

Beach is nice but the state park is closed. Only portapoties and they are disgusting! I don’t think they have been changed all summer. Someone from the department of state parks needs to call them changed out

Beautiful state park beach in New Hampshire. Gorgeous views, great facilities including small store with ice cream, snacks, slushy, towels etc. Outdoor showers and changing rooms plus bathrooms. Probably the largest parking area of any of the state park beaches in the area.

Beautiful small beach near Portsmouth city, it's clean and usually not over crowded in the evenings. Plenty of free parking near the beach entrance and parking gate closed by 8:00 pm

Great family beach. Nice sandy area, close to bathrooms, picnic tables, and small store with ice cream, towels and toys. One side of the beach is rocky, with some fun tide pools. A concrete sidewalk and retaining wall (near picnic tables and bathrooms) provides a level area to look out over the ocean (could be a good spot to put a wheelchair or chair for those who have more trouble walking). A few steps down from this area will get you to sandy beach. Lots of parking -you can register for a limited number of spots online. They also save spots for first come first serve. There is a fee for parking. I've had good luck getting a parking spot as long as I get there earlier in the day. The parking lot is paved and mostly level. Great for all ages and stages!

One of the better beaches along the NH coast. A little pricey at $15 per car but worth it if you get there early or at low tide. It's small so there's not a lot of beach during high tide. They have ample parking, bathrooms and the beach store seems to be open again. Also picnic tables and some grassy areas.

Nice place to sun and swim. Has a bathroom and bath house. They need to be renovated.

The perfect beach for the whole family. Away from the busy Hampton beach, Wallis Sands offers great spaces to hang out all day. Currently they are taking reservations so you are guaranteed a parking spot. The little cafe offers snacks and drinks.

Nice beach with facilities. Parking $15 a day, I always found a spot. Family and kids section can get crowded, but rest of the beach is always half empty. This beach is really nice for out of season walks.

Small clean beach, clear water, food, restrooms, life guards, & plenty of parking.

My favorite quiet little beach on the New Hampshire seacoast. Lowtide is the best time to go. Off-season and late afternoon = free parking.
