My son loves to take pictures of planes, so we drove up from KC, KS. There are some beautiful planes that fly in and out of that place. It's also a low key place to do this.
There are incredible people here. I know many personnel as college students and they all serve proudly with they and their families sacrificing much in the process. During the Air Show (usually annually), these folks volunteer to keep everyone safe, to kindly provide directions, to keep people hydrated, to provide first aid, and to guard everyone from harming themselves and others. They are always willing to answer questions and be there for support. The shows over the years have been spectacular. I hope you enjoy the photos. Nothing fancy; just a regular 35 mm point and shoot and a bit of luck, but I love sharing about the people who serve our country and those who, in the military or not, travel around to entertain us.
Nice base. Was last here in 2010, as a kid. Came to visit my dad who was doing Navy Reserves stuff. I have good, fond memories of that visit. I don’t think I’ll ever return here again, but keep up the good work Air-Force and Navy!
Wonderful city, wonderful base, and some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. There's lots to do around the area and the base itself is large, pretty, and friendly. I had lived in Florida all of my life before we moved here and I've loved every minute of being stationed here!
Terrible place. I visited my brother many years ago while he was stationed here and once you get put here, you stay a long time. The old saying back then was "once you get on it, you can't get Offutt." There are so many better bases and maybe because this is in Nebraska... and well, it's Nebraska, nothing to write home about.
I got stuck here in 1962 while taking a Hop from Vandenberg AFB in Calif to Dyess AFB in Texas. Gen. Lemay called a SAC alert and we couldn't leave to continue our trip!
It's an awesome base...but it is the only base I have been to. There is quite a bit to do but the people are definitely not what I'm used to. A lot of people I've met..no wait...tried to speak to seem to be very self absorbed and not very polite or curtious. Although I am from the south I was under the impression that most people taught manners or at least learned them at sometime in their life. Overall Offutt AFB feels very safe and there is a lot to do but as for the people...I wish you weren't so irritated over life.
