Don’t give these guys a deposit. They will just quote you a price to fix your equipment that is obviously too expensive/ more than the equipment is worth. & they keep your deposit just for looking at it.

Took a 2 month old echo trimmer into them for what I thought would be warranty work. After paying $60 and dropping off trimmer for a day , I got a call and was informed that my trimmer wouldn’t be covered because of “a little dirt on the air filter” there words !! Unbelievable I said . What are you supposed to change the air filter weekly ! There’s no way a little dirt caused the exhaust on the 2 month old trimmer to become clogged amd reason for needing repair . Best off all they get to keep my $60 for telling me the won’t fix my trimmer !! Don’t take warranty work there! Won’t be covered due to a “little dirt “ what a joke !

They insisted that they knew better and that I was wrong. They sold me the belt they felt I needed. It shredded immediately after install. No apology, no refund, not even a discount on the (correct) belt that I wanted to buy in the first place.

They were able to repair my Stihl unit under warranty. That was much appreciated!! However, when I picked up my repair it was much dirtier than when I dropped it off. I was told they had it sitting next to the blade sharpening wheel. So I had the dust/metal shavings covering my blower. This shouldn’t happen! Still giving them 4 Stars for the service and warranty work!!!

Don't come here if your equipment isn't "name brand", or "has Chinese parts". They will not do the work. Save yourself the trip if you own anything by Champion, or any other product not within their ability to get parts (other than ordering them online like everyone else does). But feel free to buy their Honda generators or any of their other Chinese products.

I came in thinking my mower was really hurt. Kara greeted me with a smile and asked Rick to check it out first before having me spend money to inspect. It ended up being very simple. They were able to sharpen the blades quickly and get me back to my lawn.

Brought my leaf blower in for a tune-up. They were more interested in selling me a new one. Their rates are so expensive that it does make sense to buy new.

The quality of service and courteousness of personnel are highly questionable and leans heavily to the poor side. Having dropped my lawnmower off in early March, I am now getting back in May. I didn't expect it would take them this long. Rather than tuning it up after 4 weeks, they just notified me after that time that they couldn't or wouldn't tune it up. "They found" a crack in the aluminum deck of the mower and told me that it needed to be repaired by a welder or that I would need to get a new lawn mower. To be honest, I believe I gave them a perfectly fine lawnmower in good condition, without any defects or cracks. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and got it welded, which took another week. Upon returning it to them again to get tuned up, I asked if it could be expedited since I waited 4 weeks initially. They said they would work on getting it ahead in the line. I followed up 2 days after hearing nothing, and they said it would be ready in the next day or two. And then following up in the next day or two, the same answer, and then finally, they had it ready almost two weeks after dropping it off to them the second time, and almost 6 weeks of time with them just to get a tune up. I had to be the one to call them in the end to find out it was ready. Poor communication, questionable practices, not worth 2 months of your time, and not worth a 120+ price tag for a tune up. Look elsewhere. It will be worth it.

READ THIS REVIEW. Used to take my equipment here before the ownership change. Always received reasonable and quality service. apparently now they’ll take your equipment apart, charge you for the diagnosis and then refuse to put it back together, if you decide to not move forward with their “recommended service.” This season I brought in two mowers, a trimmer and a chain saw and a power washer. The trimmer was supposed to get the head replaced. They didn’t even bother. The chain saw, was missing an oil cap. They replaced the oil cap and nothing else. Didn’t even fill it with oil or fuel. I filled it with fuel and fuel started pouring out of the machine. This is an echo chain saw that’s barely been used. I dropped off the power washer with a carb I had purchased online. They refused to install the carb and said the power washer wasn’t worth fixing. The mowers came back dirtier than when I dropped them off. I’ll be interested to see how/if they run. It’s pretty frustrating to say the least. This “service” cost over $200 at pick up plus whatever I paid in “deposit” when I dropped everything off. Another $200 I think, $50/unit. No idea what I even paid for. I called to get some answers and received a call back from their front desk gal. She said a lot without really saying anything. Sad to see small businesses change hands and then go to hell. Drove 30 min one way for this shop and then waited 6 or 7 weeks to receive whatever they’d like to call this service. Just a shame. RIP Harvester Small Engine. In response to the owners response. These are blatant lies. The trimmer and chainsaw are both Echos and are less than 5 years old, the chain saw is 2 years old. One of the mowers is a toro. The other is a Husqavarna w a Honda motor. See photos. The power washer was cheap and not worth repairing admittedly. But other than the power washer none of this equipment had any issues until they arrived at your shop. They were there for just routine Maintenence. I’ve attached pictures of my “junk” to let your future customers see through your dishonesty and poor business practices. What. A. Joke. You all did a bad job. Just own up to it and do better next time. Coaching opportunity. Opportunity to course correct. Take a bad situation and just do better. I doubt you will though because you’re a dishonest and poor business owner. That much is glaringly obvious.

Amazing place! Great service! Came here cause my mower stopped working, Tim helped me, he had the issue figured out, fixed and i had it home quick, on a price that definitely was affordable, will for sure have my business down the road

They get one star for telling us what was wrong with it. Took older year (1987) riding mower to them, paid the $50 to have them diagnose it. When I got the quote couldn’t afford it so told them I would pick it up. I guess they were mad we didn’t use them because we got a baggie of nuts and bolts that they didn’t put back. Nothing was actually put back right or tightened down. Mismatched sizes of bolts on the starter. I guess because we weren’t going to give them our money they decided not to even put stuff back that they took off to check. Have used them before but not sure now.

This was a good experience. We needed a new mower. Tim showed me a new SCAG zero turn and I loved it. He got us in and financed quickly. The mower was deliver the next day and didn't stop my lawn care service with a long wait. He gave me what I needed and a little extra to make sure the sale was completed to my liking. I appreciated the help and the urgency. I would recommend Harvester to anyone with a lawn care business. Thanks Tim!

I have used them for the past 10 years for lawnmower and yard implement repair. They are honest and competent and reasonably priced. They tell you up front your anticipated repair time. The earlier your get your mower in ( December or January ) you get it back in a week or so after that, it can be much longer.They accept major credit cards.

The owner helped me purchase a new chainsaw. He was informative and helpful. So far, my new saw is working great. They can get busy and repairs get backed up, and they probably have trouble getting help. Good to have this long term facility in our neighborhood!

Don’t let the 4 star average fool you. I brought in my push mower and they said it would take $40 to look at. I was like ok. So they took it apart and said it would cost $250 to fix. I was like “I’m good” I’ll just take it back the way it is. Then they were like it will cost $40 to put back together. I was like you never said that before. They were like look at the fine print on the bill. I was like ok I see how it is. Don’t take your stuff there. They are completely dishonest.

There are several small engine repair shops around. I will buy from any of them before Harvester Small Engine. They were so smug that I didn't know what part I needed and they sold me the one they THOUGHT I needed. It failed, catastrophically. I had to go back and pay full price for the part that I asked them for in the first place. No refund, no discount, no apology. I ended up paying them full price for both parts because I needed to get a mower up and running quickly. I won't go back there ever again.

very nice people. i had a mower issue, and they were super back logged and couldn’t get me in for a service for at least a month, but the service desk person who answered the phone took the time and walked me through my issue. my mower started up thanks to his help when they were clearly busy. highly recommend them, always support local

Purchased a new lawn mower yesterday. Jack took the time to explain the various models and help me determine which model best fit my needs. Aarion assembled the lawn mower on the spot and put it in my vehicle. Very pleasant experience all around, and highly recommend this company. I know I would not have received this level of service at a big box store. Great experience!

Pay attention to these reviews. Dropped off less than 6 month old Husqvarna mower with a Honda Engine. Its a $300 push mower. told them not to dig too deep because it is not that expensive. It ran then would die and not restart. They called months later and said it has water in the carburetor (mower was never left or kept outside), a replacement was $20.00, ok... so why can't you clean out the water?.... so they replaced it. Then called a few days later and said the coil is bad so they replaced it $16.00. Then in the end they charged me $200.00 and brought out a mower that looked 20 yrs old with oil, dirt and grease all over it. I told them NO, so they went and washed it. While I was standing in line another older couple was dropping off the mower they just picked up a week ago and the gentleman says it still will not run, so they continued to tell him there is a $40.00 charge just to look at it! HE JUST PICKED IT UP! Why would you charge him a deposit to look at a mower with the same problem they dropped off to have repaired? Good luck going there and getting anything done right. They will keep your mower forever when you need it the most and then banter you with calls when its done so they can get their money. Will never go there again would rather burn my money than give it to them, at least I will stay warm.

I bought my Snapper push-mower from this place 7 years ago. I've had them service it regularly. In early July, I took it in to have the blade sharpened, and I was told that the mower deck is broken and will cost $425 to repair. To tell me that, though, they charged me $40! I'm sure it was just a matter of taking a careful LOOK at the deck to see that it was broken, but they insisted that I pay them $40 for that "look"! Thankfully, I bought my new mower someplace else because Harvester was closed from July 4 through July 7 and I needed to mow my lawn; thankfully, as well, I've found another shop to have my mower serviced in the future. Reviewers of my new shop say the service is excellent and the price is surprisingly low. Needless to say, Ill not be going back to Harvester "Rip Off" Small Engine.

These guys have always done quality work. If you need a new carb or just a tune up on your mower, these are the guys. Be advised, they get really busy when spring starts and have to restrict their repair business to only the brands they sell until later in the summer. So come early or you'll have to wait. It's worth the wait though.

I've been going to Harvester Small Engine for over 20 years. Have purchased a lawn mower, a trimmer and 3 chain saws from them. I'm still using all of these tools. They are not the least expensive, but they sell quality merchandise (Stihl, Honda etc) and do quality service work. I took my lawn mower in for service today because it would not start. Chris, one of the mechanics checked it out and found that the spark plug connection was loose. He connected it, and sent me on my way...no charge. Courteous service, good product knowledge and skilled service mechanics. I'll keep going back for all my lawn care/tool needs.

I took my mower into this location to take advantage of a $65.00 spring tuneup on my mower. I bought it 3 years ago and only cut the grass twice so it was like new. 6 weeks after dropping it off they called and told me it would cost $280.00 to service my mower because I needed a new battery and my carburetor needed to be rebuilt. They obviously did not look at one thing because I declined them servicing my mower and took it to another shop in St. Peter's and told them my mower would not start. Within 15 minutes they determined it was getting fuel and pulled off a hose that went to the carburetor and found it was plugged. They blew the line out, put it back on, pulled the cord once and the mower started like new. $25.00 charge is all. This place got a $45.00 fee from me that just went right into their wallet. Don't ever take anything here. Oh just for the record the battery was fine too. Crooks.

Been going to them for the last 6 years. They carry all types of mowers and service them as well. They do a nice job at a reasonable price. Just had my mower in for their winter maintenance special and it runs much better. They even tie up in a baggie your old filter and spark plug which is a nice touch. The staff friendliness is a mixed bag, depends on who you get.

I went in the shop on April 4, 2017. Matt was very helpful and patient in describing all the different features on the Honda lawnmowers. I made my decision, and Larry brought out the lawnmower and went over all the operational features with me. Asked me to start it, which required little effort. He loaded in my vehicle and I was on my way. Very happy with the customer service and their patience.

Recommended by a friend and they were great. Had the correct pricing on the Echo trimmer where Home Depot was $20 more. Did the warranty information for me, set up the trimmer and game a quick demo on how to start and use it. Will definitely be going back!

We just bought our third Honda mower today from Harvester Small Engine. We've been extremely happy customers for 23 years (bought the first Honda push mower in '93, which still runs perfectly, starts on one pull consistently). The only mower we had to have serviced was our Honda riding mower, which they made like new!! Excellent service, excellent prices, highly recommended for your grass cutting needs!!

I own a lawn service business and they are the most professional people I've ever dealt with. Their staff is so educated in lawn equipment and the tools that are needed to do it from beginner to professional. They also have an in-house repair department that is second to none. They repair their equipment first time correctly every time and that is huge to me. There is nothing worse than getting your equipment back and its not fixed but that will never happen with harvester small engine in my opinion.
