Never been treated so poorly in my life. From the moment I walked in the employee and the owner was disrespectful. Refused my service because I didnt look a certain way.
I can’t say enough how much I love and appreciate Alvie and his whole team of workers! Got my car in December of last year amazing car low miles we came into our first issue with car we took it to big o first cause it was the 4th and Alvie wasn’t open well long story short big o screwed my car up worse then it was and got it taken to Alvie and they checked it out found out the problem and got it back up running better then ever! They knew how much the safety of my family meant and they made sure we were safe from giving us a loaner to making sure we were back on road in a day with our car y’all can say what you want but he will always have the respect from my family and we will now only ever take our car to him because he values his customers and makes sure they are safe on those roads! Thank you thank you Alvie we love you!
Excellent place if you want to get a used car at a fair price! They are honest and great to work with! I have bought 2 cars there, my daughter has 2, my niece has 1 and my sister has bought a couple. They have our business for life! You don’t find many honest car dealers nowadays, but this one is the best! They know what they are doing if you need a repair, and very reasonable and reliable!
They sell lemons. They took full advantage of a disabled person who could not test drive vehicle. I am witness to it. Bad engine and they put additive to seal head gasket that did more harm than good. As a mechanic myself I would absolutely never use them! They use methods totally unscrupulous and only care about money. Know the company for 25 years and they were much better 25 years ago. Greed has overtaken this company and it's owner. Woe unto those who abuse the weak. Righteous is he who stands in as justice for the weak.
Alvie is absolutely amazing. I broke down 3 and half hours away from home and he helped me figure out how to get my car home. I would highly recommend going through starnes auto if you need a car very kind and straightforward people.
If you want a decent car don’t come here unless u have enough money to pay it out right according to mr.Starnes he will try to sell u lemon cars he is very judgmental not even close to professional he got angry with me bc I kept asking about different vehicles and told me what I could/couldn’t afford he is not a good business man period.
First things first… HORRIBLE SERVICE from the moment my fiancé and I stepped into this establishment this dudes attitude was wack he had this attitude of “ I don’t wanna sell to you” not only was his attitude very rude his employees had rude attitudes as well he didn’t wanna barely show us any cars.. and he even told my fiancé that he wasn’t gonna sell him the car he wanted because in his own words “he couldn’t afford it” definitely not tryna pull the race card at all but me as a black female and my fiancé being white we definitely felt judged because of the way we look! We had already heard nothing but bad reviews about this place from our peers around us and we genuinely didn’t think this would be our experience but unfortunately it was! ( this was just my experience and opinion please do what you wish )
ALVIE is excellent very helpful and straight forward no funny business personality. I wish he were there more. His personality is good if you want a straightforward type of guy...They replaced a motor cost around 1700$. This is another good buisness!
We had a windshield bust on the highway this summer. Once they got back into the office from the holiday weekend, they were all over it. The replacement was very good, and they got it done as quickly as we could have hoped. They were also quite friendly and accomodating. Thanks so much!

Last 3 cars friends and family have bought from them in last 12months have all turned out to be lemon cars. They expect you to upkeep payment while trying to afford to fix said lemon car.
Very good place to purchase or finance a used vehicle. They've been really busy the last few days, but still made time to help. Alvie went above and beyond to get me into a vehicle the same day. He's fair and honest. Have purchased multiple vehicles from him and will continue to in the future.

I went here in I believe March 2021 in desperate need of a new vehicle. They were so helpful and got me in the exact car I wanted. Anytime I needed work done on my car they were amazing! They are now the only people I will go to for any work I need on my car! I will be getting my next car from them! Thank you guys for being so awesome and making me feel like more than just a customer!
I’ve been to this place several times as I’m new to town and have several vehicles the needed safety checks per missiouri law. It was such a smooth process I’ve been bringing my vehicles for repairs or diagnostics. They are very fair prices and on top of their appointments and friendly as well professional. Look when you see the elders getting their car fixed there you’ve learned something. We’re very appreciative we have landed where we did and found the perfect place to fix our cars. Only had the one car and had work the next day so I couldn't afford to wait to have my car fixed. They managed to get me into the shop same day and done in a couple hours! Gave me a loaner so I could grab lunch and were just super nice people. Never had such good customer service from a shop before! So glad to be back on the road
Was planning on buying a vehicle from them after a total out was agreed for a certain amount of sale that was almost fair but still above blue book for a salvage title vehicle. Alvie and his crew stated it only had a small issue with the age of the car this is understandable. While trying to wade through the insurance issues from the total out Alvie and his staff is getting increasingly rude and unprofessional. While we had the car as a loaner (planned to buy) until we got everything sorted with insurance.After having to take car back a few times due to some issues like it limp dying several times (issue was not fixed),take it to another mechanic to get it code read and possible fixed to find out there were multiple issues. (Was also told by multiple mechanics in the area "starnes is ok for basic maintaining but ultimately there mechanic crew is not equipped or knowledgeable enough to do most repairs" Go back to sign all paperwork after putting insurance on it when they were told it would be a full cash sale not payment the price increases substantially then when asking why the price increase? He starts to cuss out and berate me and my minor child then proceeded to tell us that car or any other car will not be sold to us or any one willing to buy for us. This is after trying to make a minor with no guardians present sign contracts and trying to scam said minor out of almost $5,000.
The people here are the nicest and most professional people in the business. They managed to find part for my car that I would have waited many days for, in less than 5 hours. They took care of me with a smile on their face. I live a hour away and will make the drive just to do business with them again.
Alva Starnes has done work on my vehicles for over 20-years. Everybody in this community knows him and recommends him. He’s been more than fair. He’s honest and works harder than most people I’ve ever met. I simply can’t say enough good things about him and the way he manages his business, and the quality and timeliness of his work.
Had the front windshield glass replaced in my f150. They done a great job. They got it done very quick job. It was very professional as not to have the glue all over the inside of my truck like I have see other places do.If you need body work or a glass replaced dont pass them up
My husband just got done there getting some small windshield holes fixed, and the staff, he said, were super friendly, did great work, did it in the time frame they said they would do it, and were extra fair, more than fair on pricing. He had a full windshield repaired there a few years ago with the same experience: They know what they are doing, they follow through with their word, do quality work, friendly staff, extra reasonable prices. If we could give them 6 stars, we would do so. Thanks.
Alva. Alvie and Sonja are the best people in this town. Between being my landlords, car dealership, repair shop and giving me the first chance the ever own my own home. They are honest upfront and treat you like a person. When you give them the same respect that they show you then it just works. They are the best people and best business owners in Laclede county and I have recommended them for 8 years and will continue until I die. Thank you for you guys being you.
Starnes Auto has been doing business with my family for many decades now. Alva and his team are great at fixing things for a very reasonable price. They are very kind and willing to work with you.
First off the woman with the pointy nose and black hair that works in the front is the rudest, nastiest most awful woman I have EVER come across. She absolutely acts like she hates life and makes sure she reflects that to the customers. I can’t believe someone that bitchy works with the public. I can honestly say that they lost my business because of how I got treated every time I went in there to make a payment on my vehicle. The place is shady and they give you salvaged title vehicles without your knowledge. Alvi is a pervert and was coming on to me the whole time I was looking at cars. It was weird. But that is nothing compared to how unpleasant that black haired woman is. Jesus Christ I can’t get over how miserable and mean she is. And this is nothing personal. I don’t know this lady at all except from my encounters with her at this place. I can’t imagine that she has a husband or a boyfriend because surely no one could stand to be near her on their own will.
I recently had some minor work done on my car. Never before have I been greeted so warmly by a body shop. It's like there is a unwritten rule people who work in the automotive industry all suck. Not these folks! The office gals are super nice and the gentleman who wrote my estimate was very friendly. They actually had a sense if humor !!! They are clearly glad to have your business. Oh, and the car looks great.
Nothing but good things to say about this company. we had issues with the vehicle after we picked it up due to a part failure. Alva (the owner) went above and beyond to correct the situation - that type of integrity and personal responsibility is hard to come bye. High quality workmanship and they took care of everything with my insurance company. I wish I could give more than just 5 stars.
