This was a very well maintained place with a very neat history And a unique idea. This is the only type of place that I think can take you to the 1930s outside of a book or a movie.

Gary from Gay Purita recommended we make a stop here. Did not disappoint. Wonderful recreation of childhood memories.

We walked all around this quaint " town" it was very fun. I was bummed the church wasn't open. Most of the places were locked up unfortunately..

Great place to visit, we are glad we stopped by. Managed to walk into a church service and they were so welcoming and had a great chat with the congregation. Would have loved to have spent more time.

Probably would have been better in the summer and in the sun but nothing was really open and it was a collection of private residences. A few of the art pieces were interesting and picture worthy but not really if this is a detour for you OR if your a big RV. No room to turn around or for more than one RV to park and the lane has low limbs and tight fits. I think their Sat night music might be fun though.

Visited on 6.11.2025. This is a unique, strange, weird, and nostalgic Route 66 attraction. It is definitely worth the time the walk grounds and enjoy the sights.

An amazing Lil gem nestled right off Route 66...free and open to the public. It's a must after you travel the 38 miles down 96 Highway(route 66 byway) and see all the sights down through there.

This place I incredible. I need much more information on why is the developed how was designed , who did it and why. Don't miss it if you're on Route 66

The area was an art of work using restored buildings from surrounding ghost towns in Missouri since it resembled a village with many historical buildings such as a historic service station. Overall, the area perfectly gave off a Route 66 vibe.

Cool visit here. It's been many years since I have been here. Seen a few changes since last year. Glad to see they are keeping everything up.

In 1987, Lowell Davis began collecting buildings from ghost towns and other historic sites to create his own community near Carthage, MO. This inhabited village features many of Lowell's unique creations and continues as a tribute to the Norman Rockwell of Rural Art. My daughter and I were fascinated by this place. 1st, it's huge. A small neighborhood, I would size it. The history here is so rich and full of Americana. This is a reminder of simpler times. Get Your Kicks on Route 66 Missouri

The best stop off Route 66 in MO. Rose was very sweet and gave us a brief personal tour and history lesson on her husband Lowell Davis and his artwork and restoration of all the bldgs he acquired. If you get a chance to spend some time here it's worth it.

Such a fun place to visit with lots of interesting things to see. Worth the stop and it's free (although donations are accepted). You can spend time walking around or if walking is difficult, you can stay in the car and drive around the majority of the grounds.

We brought our car group to visit. It was a great trip. We missed getting to go into the art gallery. We enjoyed meeting the parson (I think that is what he said - I have, unfortunately, misplaced his cars. He was full of intrsting information.

Red Oak II is a fascinating place. It's a ghost town, but it's not really a ghost town. It's a recreation of a ghost town, created by artist Lowell Davis. Davis grew up in the original Red Oak, Missouri, which was abandoned in the 1950s. He decided to recreate the town on his farm, using old buildings and materials that he found. Red Oak II is a beautiful place. The buildings are all in good condition, and they're set in a lovely rural setting. It's a great place to take a walk, relax, and enjoy the peace and quiet. Davis also created a number of sculptures and paintings that are on display at Red Oak II. These works of art are beautiful, and they help to bring the town to life. If you're interested in history, art, or just want to take a walk in a beautiful setting, I highly recommend visiting Red Oak II. It's a unique place that you won't find anywhere else. Americana preserved. This is a unique glimpse into a simpler time and a condensed look back at the Ozarks of the past. Lots of wonderful outsider art scattered along the way that adds whimsey and enchantment to the tour of small-town life from days gone by.

Found out about this place when eating lunch in Carthage. Must admit it’s quite an exceptional place, and unexpected. We visited during off season and I guess coming during an event would be best. Being and old Air Force pilot the Beech aircraft interested me the most. This aircraft is an WWII veteran.

We spent several hours here seeing and enjoying what Lowell Davis had created. We got to talk at length with his widow and really appreciated the time we spent there. We have several pieces of his artwork at home since my wife grew up in Carthage. Do yourself a favor and spend some time here, it is right on the old Route 66 route.

What an amazing place!! Really quite surreal, it's like being teleported back in time. It would appear that areas are undergoing construction or renovation, so was only able to walk around. Didn't see anyone that looked as though they worked there, other than the construction folks to ask questions. Would've loved to get a drink or food from the cafe, and wish there was some information about the town, but hopefully that's coming soon! It is a little confusing at times where you can/can't go - appears to be a mix of private and public areas, I was worried at times I might've been trespassing. But given more time I could've easily spent a bunch of time here!

This was a great find on our way down Route 66 headed to Oklahoma. We could tell that when Lowell Davis created this he had some grand ideas and we enjoyed taking in the art pieces and old buildings we saw there. A little more information for visitors would be helpful, but overall it was worth the stop!

I found what I believe is a parking spot, then walked the Red Oak 2 loop. It took me about 20 minutes. I was stopping to take pics. The houses and signs are cool/beautiful. The road is a loose gravel which may be hard for wheelchairs. I was unsure if people are allowed to enter the houses, so I did not. This is a nice stop for a quick and scenic diversion.

This place is great , an example of an artist and his vision throughout the entire site. Some excellent older cars have been added to the exhibit and new paint also , once again the maintenance is exceptional.

This museum, about a mile off Route 66 was amazing. I had no idea it was even here as I had not read about it in any Route 66 literature prior to my trip. I only found out about it thanks to the owners of the Best Budget Inn in Carthage (great motel I stayed at). Red Oak II is such a nice area to park and walk around, looking at all the amazing buildings and artwork. I even spent some time talking to the owner in the gallery / store on the property. She was as sweet as can be and told me a lot about the history of the property. My favorite house on the property was the skinny house near the pond on the property. It was so beautifully built and I loved looking around inside it. I'd say Red Oak II is a must visit if driving Route 66 or in the Carthage area. The artwork is amazing and well worth an hour of your time, even if to just stop at and stretch your legs. There is no charge for admission, so be sure to buy something at the store or leave a donation so they can keep this property open for future generations. It's really worth it.

You need to see this place! My partner and I went on a Sunday, and it was so quiet and peaceful. The houses are amazing! His artwork is beautiful. We have plans to return in the future for a festival.

A very cute place to take photos, I've had several people come here for their family or senior pictures. Several colorful buildings and some you can even enter, there is also quite a bit of history in these buildings as well.

Really cool outdoor museum. Basically a small village recreated in amongst the fields. Some of the houses are occupied so respect privacy and private property but definitely go for a full look around. Really worth the small detour off Route 66

We finally stopped in with our family, after wanting forever to go. Certainly was NOT disappointed, this place is AMAZING! You're able to walk around the settlement at your own pace, but we met an incredible tour guide named 'Duke.' ? Beautiful place, the settlement takes you back to a simpler, and enchanting time. The atmosphere is very serene, quiet, and peaceful..full of beautiful art masterpieces around every corner, and cranny. It's like a rustic and heartwarming wonderland! Great way to get out with the family on a little adventure, and make some everlasting memories ❤ Thank you Mr. Lowell Davis and Mrs. Rose for making this treasure, and sharing it with the community!
