I needed some bizarre inspection I've never heard of. They not only knew all about it but without an appointment got me out maybe 10 min after I got there. Super nice, no appt needed.
You all were kind and transparent in explaining the service and what my car needed and didn’t hustle me out of any money when there was opportunity to do so. However I am 100% certain that whoever worked on/ was in my car stole one of my belongings. I am unhappy about that and will not return because of this, despite the service being okay.

Nothing like your car gasping for air on the highway right after an oil change to kick off a trip to visit family, right? Early into my drive to Kansas City, my car decided accelerating was optional. And as we know, it's not. Turns out the mechanic back home made a Oopsie.
By the time I rolled into Kansas City on Friday, I knew I needed help and fast! After some overwhelming online searching I found KC Brake & Auto. Their online reviews? GLOWING! So on Monday at 8:00 a.m., I called, hopeful they could squeeze me in. Welp, nope. They were already full for the day. First come, first served. Lesson learned. So Tuesday morning, I showed up at 7:08 a.m. and ended up fourth in line waiting for the doors to open. By 7:30? It looked like a Cars Anonymous meeting, 'Hi, my name is Rusty and I leak oil'. lol. There were at least 11 people behind me. Moral of the story, get there there early.
When it was my turn to check in, I was greeted by Kevin, the owner, and instantly understood why this place gets high marks. He and his team are genuinely kind, impressively patient, and refreshingly honest. No upselling. No nonsense. Just real talk and real solutions. Kevin later called to explain what the issue was and how they’d fix it. Long story short? KC Brake & Auto is the real deal if you're looking for peace of mind and a trusting auto repair team. Super helpful! Dropped in off the highway because of a noise. They sent a couple blocks down to a great dive bar called Bricks. And had me back on the road in a couple of hours, under 50 bucks. Would go back again.
We’ve taken every car we’ve had here for over 10 years. This is the best place in KCMO to take your car to. There been honest and straightforward with us every time. Never selling us anything we don’t need. Could not recommend enough.

These guys are very informative about what they are doing to to your vehicle. They do an inspection and then you get to see the list of items that passed or need attention. They also don’t work in your vehicle until you approve the job that is to be done. The prices are great and very reasonable. To make things even better their communication is top notch. They respond quickly and answer any questions you may have. I would recommend this company for any work to be done in a vehicle!
I have been using Kevin's KC Brake for over 20 years now and have NEVER been disappointed. Fair prices and ALWAYS back up their work. If they can't fix it they will tell you up front and not waste your time and money. I own a Mercedes, Hummer and Chevy Malibu and they have worked on all of then for me. Great honest work force. Kevin is a great example of a caring owner that takes care of his customers and employees. I own a Car wash and Detail shop in the Crown Center Complex and referrer all my customers to KC Brake without hesitation.

On my way from st louis to KC, my car started misfiring. I have a 2022 vehicle so i didnt need a tune up, turns out my ignition coil went bad. I called Kevin’s shop (based off reviews) first thing Monday morning & he was a life saver! I was able to drop my car off at 8:00 & he had it ready before 2:00. I had zero issues getting back to stl. So incredibly grateful for KC brake & auto for taking care of this out of towner

Kevin’s has always been the most honest and trustworthy garage I have been to in my time as a car owner. Still is in 2025. Kevin’s shop is great. They always communicate and I’m never left wondering what is going on or what a timeline looks like. They are clear, honest and provide quick service. I’ve gone to them for standard brake service and all the way to a very intensive A/C repair. I can’t recommend them enough.

My every trip is for 1500 miles and Kevin make my trip safe and assured to reavh the destination by cheki6everything and through inspection. Important to share that he never charged me for additional services and infact two times without any service charge he checked all my breaks and suggested not to do anything hence no charges. I do not recommend bringing Your car to the shop they're basically just A shop that fixes something and something else goes wrong that may have to do with what they did and they will not fix the problem. They like to blame it on your car and make you pay more. This shop definitely does not deserve $165 an hour for their services. It is a complete rip off. I will never bring my car back again and they do not want me to bring my vehicle back again either just a heads up. Watch Kevin and his Silver tongue on how he could talk his way out of it not being their problem shopper beware

They fixed up my vehicle to get it able to pass a safety inspection. Also checked an engine light (ended up being a catalytic converter issue).
They were nice and let me ask a lot of questions about each item they were charging for, as well as my options for repairing the catalytic converter.
Reasonable prices for parts and labor as well.
Make sure to get there when they open though, they apparently fill up the shop quickly.
If your looking for and Honest and Great Place to take your vehicle. Look no further than this one. I Took my Ford Fusion here and I was Quoted one price and once I picked my car up they saved me some labor cost and they didn't make me purchase a part, that I thought that I needed but come to find out I didn't. I truly appreciate these guys honesty . I haven't experienced great service like this from a mechanic shop in a very long time. I definitely recommend this place. Thanks again guys
My old mechanic, when retiring and closing down, Hyde Park Auto had recommended KC Brake as a place to do auto repairs. I recently needed a significant repair done to my older vehicle and decided to try KC Brake. I can tell you from my experience that they are very knowledgeable, and their follow through on the job was second to none. Kevin was honest about what it would take to complete the fix and shot me a fair price for the repair. If you are looking for an auto repair place that is knowledgeable, conducts their business with integrity, and does a thorough job, then KC Brake is the place for you. Hats off to Kevin and his crew. Kevin and his team are honest, fair, affordable, and will go the extra mile to let you know what is needed to keep your car safe and on the road! They told me exactly what other things were wrong with my car when I went in for repairs. I was aware of the other issues, but the fact that they came to the exact same conclusion as me and my master mechanic father was impressive!
I went ahead and had them do some more work since I was there.
Bonus = The Tow truck driver that towed me there (not associated in any way with Kevin's business) damaged the back of my car, and Kevin was able to provide me with video providing me proof.

The service they did on my 2021 Nissan Versan was amazing, they did a great job, and were more than accommodating for everything I asked and gave me a more than fair price.
I will always be recommending this place. They are located downtown so they can be busy and sometimes can get pushed behind.
But they are always nice and respectful and accommodating.
