UPDATED Review: I changed my review to reflect my experience after I did end up moving forward in using Bona Bros. for their paint and body work. Matt and Steve were very helpful and gracious in understanding my concerns and going above and beyond to help me get this work completed for a past hail storm, months ago. Areas that Matt and Steve exceled at: -Working with my insurance -Making sure I had a rental car (which was nicely cleaned) -Waiving my insurance deductible which they did not have to do and I was very much willing to pay for -Explaining the final work that was done -Have my car cleaned inside and out, wheels shined, detailed inside -...and most of all work was done exceptionally well *Do ask for Matt or Steve for great customer service, you will be well taken care of. I had made an appointment for hail damage on my car, a month prior to my appointment, speaking with the Auto Body shop directly (multiple times) who assured me of my appointment today 9/18 and that there would be a rental car available at the time I dropped my car off. I arrived and was told that one of the front office reps called off at 5:45am (it was 8:27am when I arrived) and that he 'is trying to get things done but am only one person and it would be best to call to reschedule this appointment'. I was also told that he wouldn't have a rental car available for me anyway, which I would have no way of then getting to work (info that would have been good to have before arriving). I had confirmed with him over the phone multiple times. I was told there was 'no record of this', even though (I confirmed his name) he was the one that personally told me he put all this info down on my appt for today. I asked why I didn't get a call to just not come in instead driving all the way over here, so I could go directly to work since the other guy called off over 2 and half hours ago. I was told 'sorry, there is nothing I can do, it is out of my hands'. I left without rescheduling since the customer service was horrendous. I will find a new company that would like over $3k worth of business. To be clear, I greatly understand and empathize with worker shortages and staff being out sick as I manage a large team across 4 businesses and the stress that situations like that can create for co-workers and the flow of business. Sometimes, you can bend over backwards for clients/customers and they just want to be mad when you've truly done everything you can to help them with the resources you have despite call-outs etc. But this had nothing to do with 1 person calling out and everything to do with competency of this business. This created a loss of trust and business in areas of auto body work and gas. It was an unfortunate let down by a company I had recently been talking up just a few weeks ago with how wonderfully helpful they sounded over the phone when I first made this appointment. Really unfortunate.

Service was great. Took care of my wife's car with no hiccup and when another issue popped up they were great in taking care of us and getting the car back to tip top shape. Always great to have a nice auto repair shop that does honest and grade A++ work. Thanks again Bona Bros. 8/8/23 - I just wanted to update the review. Had another car worked on with the brakes and exhaust. They were great as always and fixed everything within a day. Matthew has been great to work with over there.

Driver’s side seatbelt wouldn’t retract. I was told it would cost $350 to replace retractor unit, giving me impression they physically saw that the unit was broken. Took car home, tried to untwist the belt myself and a piece of plastic popped up, I pull out the plastic piece and the seatbelt immediately retracted. This leads me to believe they didn’t check the unit itself, making an assumption…. A $350 assumption!! I also had O2 sensor replaced. I was very pleased with this service & their overall customer service was very pleasant. If it wasn’t for my comment above, I would have given them a much higher rating.

My car started stalling today on 694 and University. As a single female in the middle of rush hour I instantly was panicky, but when I exited off on University I saw their sign and thanked God for a mechanic right where I landed. Service advisor was so kind and reassuring. Helped me immediately to diagnose and let me know not to try driving any further and said they will take care of it in next couple of days. Thank you for calming my nerves!

I went here for some electrical work picked up my car they said that everything was fixed and ready to go paid them. Drove the car for like a day the car started having the same problem that I took it in for took it back they charged me more the car started doing it again a day or two after took it somewhere els they told me what was actually wrong with it they fixed it the car has been running for 3 years and no problems. I met people that have had the same issue with Bona brothers

Had my alternator fixed at this business this past week. Called them in the morning to work out details and by 5: 00pm the same day was called that the vehicle had been finished. I'm extremely happy with the professionalism I was shown along with the prompt service and excellent work that was done to the vehicle. I will definitely be bringing my vehicle back for any future repairs and would recommend this business to others as well. Thank-You Matt and Service Technician (s) for a great experience when needing automobile service!

I had my vehicle towed to Bona bros. for maintenance on my battery. They notified i would need both my battery and alternator replaced after picking my vehicle up as soon as they opened Friday (07/15) morning I drove to my office. Upon leaving the office my car shutoff and to my surprise my batter was on fire. With the help of the fire department they were able to put the fire out. after having my vehicle towed to a nearby Toyota the technician notified me he has never seen negligence of that caliber in his 35 year career. Bona Bros. technicians did not secure my battery and caused unbelievable damage to my vehicle. After paying over $1000 for a service the service was not done correctly or properly, not to mention the fact that my tire caps were left in my vehicle upon picking it up. Why would my tire caps be in my car if the service i received was for my battery. All in all i caution against this establishment; employees are rude, service is terrible and your life can be in so much danger at the hands of their work. Grateful this didn’t happen while i was on the highway.

Absolutely great experience. Moved here a year ago. They are close by and reviews were good. I had pre-researched possible cause and cost and price was fine. Right in the ballpark. Possibly on the low end of pricing. The service and communication was great and they truly fixed the "wobble" which came from CV joint axles. Also amazed they were able to do it along with oil change and found nail in one tire fixed it all in well under a day's time. The free loaner car was a god send as well. No hassle with getting the loaner. At 65 years of age and never owning a "new car" I have seen a lot in my lifetime. These guys definitely have my business. It is a big relief to know I have a great shop to go to when I need it. And yes they wash the car too lol.

They were easy to get a hold of and got my car in and back to me before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, which I REALLY appreciated. Prices seemed reasonable and the staff was helpful and pleasant. And they have a weirdly gorgeous waiting room that's set up like a cozy library!

Matt was so helpful when my camper needed repair the day we were leaving for vacation. I highly recommend their professional and kind staff and their industry knowledge! I will bring all my vehicle repair needs to them in the future! Reasonable prices too!

I have had multiple experiences with their repair shop that was superb. They always give me the details in a reliable way and try to help save me money on costs when able which I appreciate. I always feel they are there for my needs and not to try to sell me on something else to help their business. Very quality and customer focused. They also have loaner vehicles to use at no cost if needed which was a great help since I commute downtown to the hospital for work. All around wonderful work and wonderful loyal people who work there.

Bona Bros is a great place to take my vehicle. It is convenient as its right across the street, and also they are very thoughrough. They moved my appointment up a day and fit my car in as it had stalled and had to be towed to their location. Professional front desk staff, and super friendly. Prices are not too bad!

I recently took my car to Bona Bros. Auto for an oil change and brake check after my long-time garage suddenly closed. They did a speedy, thorough job while I relaxed in their comfy waiting room, and were friendly and helpful. Love the complementary car wash.

Got me in and out for an oil change without an appointment. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Have had several repairs done by Bona Bros on my vehicle. They are reasonably priced, in a great location, and do quality work. It was amazing that one time I needed a tow and after waiting 30 minutes in the snow with no sign of them, I called the shop and they immediately came and towed my vehicle... My car was already being repaired by the time the other tow company showed up!! Their waiting room is also great!

We have been bringing our cars to Bona Bros for the past few years and have had really great experiences. Recently I wasn't able to get an immediate appointment so I brought my car to the dealership. The dealership gave me a list of very expensive repairs that needed to be done. I decided I could wait and took my car to Bona Bros. for a second opinion. They took a look and told us that many of the repairs weren't necessary. We are so grateful for their honesty; it is the reason we will continue to bring our cars to them and will HIGHLY recommend them to anyone that asks.

Since Tires Plus on Central closed, I've been on the hunt for a reliable shop with good customer service, and elected to give Bona Bros a try when the timing belt on our '05 Vue went. The heaps of contractor and utility vehicles outside made me think they were worth giving a shot to. It was a tricky situation because we’d paid a different shop to do the work a few years earlier, and it was clear that it hadn’t been done. The reps at Bona Bros were extremely sympathetic and understanding as we battled with the previous place, and as I asked for diagnostics and other tests to be done. They were able to get the work done quickly once I pulled the trigger, and complied with every thing I asked of them. The only nuisance item was that they accidentally threw away the old timing belt (what was left of it anyway) which really hurt my ability to go after the previous shop. Our second visit was, incidentally, sort of related to the first visit — the crankshaft position sensor had started throwing a check engine light and I knew it was going to be more complex than what I could do by myself. They resolved that quickly too, but there was a pretty serious discrepancy between the price for the work I’d been given on the phone, and the price I was given when I went to pick up the car. I waited to do my pickup until the next day, and did get an immediate apology for the confusion. I appreciate the fast, quality workmanship, and my girlfriend really likes the cozy, comfortable waiting area. I’m happy to continue doing business with Bona Bros, but the couple of miscommunication hiccups has forced me to leave four stars instead of five - this shop is definitely not one of the “budget” repair places in the area, so it was disappointing that some basic communication stuff got neglected. I may consider re-visiting this rating in the future if these guys continue to provide good service for us. Thanks Bona Bros!

Been going to these guys for a couple years now. I really like that they give me options on prices, never try to up-sell me, and can almost always get me in. The free car wash is a nice perk when you pick up the car too. Plus, you’re supporting and local family owned company. Keep up the good work.

Went in because my tire light was on. I asked them to take a look, cuz o couldn't figure out the problem. They told me they couldn't get to til tomorrow. I clarified they didn't have 5 min... they said no. I went to Discount Tire down the road. 1 hr later and $0, all my tires were topped off and the tire that had a screw in it was repaired. I'm usually a supporter of the local places, but Bona Brothers was a huge disappointment

I've used this shop for years and they've always treated me fair. I bring in for regular maintenance because I know they're honest in their recommendations based on inspection of the car itself, unlike many other places that recommend based on mileage of car. Even after moving away from Fridley I still like to come back here because I know I'll get honest service every time.

Had some dings on my passenger car door. Bona had their body/paint shop work out the dents and paint the door (around the 4th of July). Excellent job and all looks fantastic. They even did a little detailing; cleaned the inside of my car. So with that in mind, I thought it was a bit of an oversight that they did not do a detailing to the windows of my car. There was a bit of over-spray (not paint) on my windows; in particular my drivers door window. A nasty film that looked like I was looking through haze. I spoke to the shop about it and they asked if I could bring it in. I didn't want to do that as it would cost more time and money for a situation that wasn't caused by me in the first place. So after getting much advice on the issue, I finally decided to use a blade and carefully scrape the layer of film off my windows. Bona, this is maybe something that can be added to the list of duties after one gets a paint job. Otherwise, it was an excellent job. I got a nice loaner car and the staff is easy to work with.

I talked to Matthew about my truck.. okay, I'll admit, my baby. She is a 2004 Denali... I had an oil leak. I told Matthew I simply wanted it fixed, and fixed right. Everything he suggested, I agreed. Left the truck for 3 days and when I went to pick it up the cost was in-line with what I expected, and the work done met my expectations. And I will say I am a picky Customer. in full disclosure I am a bit of a back yard mechanic. I rarely have others work on my stuff. If I need someone to work on my vehicles, Bona Brothers will be at the top of my list. Thanks to all there, especially and including the guy(s) who did a good job with my "baby" Mike

I love this shop. I have taken my car to other shops in the past, and been charged nearly $200 for a vehicle diagnostic; and those shops only looked at the specific problem mentioned (basically paying them to tell me what I already knew). I went to Bona for a diagnostic, and because they found the problem right away, they only charged me half price for the diagnostic, and took the time to see if there were any other problems. A diagnostic and oil change ended up costing me about 60$. The reason I will keep taking my car there is how willing they are to help. I had a flat tire that they filled and repaired for free (and I had just driven right up and asked, no appointment). Another time I needed a brake light repaired, and again no appointment, they fixed that light and two others for 20$.

Let me just start out by saying that this shop may not be the most affordable place to do some of your most basic of repairs. They don't provide the bargain price. There is a flat rate for labor that applies for everything. That includes oil changes. You'll find cheaper battery, tire or alternator installation prices elsewhere. So then, what do you get for your money at Bona Bros. anyway? Let me tell you. You get a knowledgeable shop, quality workmanship, professionalism and a relationship. They do the right thing for you. Here are a couple of my experiences. My minivan developed a problem where I could not select where the air would come out of the dash, floor or windshield. They informed me that the repair would be rather expensive and offered a workaround until such a time as I could afford or desired to return to full functionality. In the meantime, I have air flow on the windshield and feet at a fraction of the cost of the full repair. On another occasion, I brought them a used vehicle for inspection. Upon leaving the shop, one of the brakes was making noise. We returned within the week and explained that the noise started after their inspection. Matthew, the service manager, let me know that the brake pad had turned sideways in the drum. He said that since they had it apart to inspect it he would make it right at no charge to us. What's more, they have spent long periods of time on the phone with me giving me advice about used car selection. They regularly run my car through the car wash before returning it to me, they offer loaner vehicles to me at no charge and have a very comfortable waiting area. You can find lots of cheap shops out there. Go to Bona Bros. if you want a quality car care relationship.

I've had my car in a few times over the years, and although they may not be the cheapest place you can find, they do excellent work. If you're able to pay a little more for the labor, having people who really know what they're doing is a great benefit. They are also always willing to give an honest opinion on if it's worth fixing (for an old car like mine) or if you'd be better off finding a newer vehicle.

I took my car to them and they were very good about letting me know what was going on with it, gave me a rental car while it took some time to get it fixed. They fixed extra stuff that broke on their watch for free! Just amazing place. I have to drive about 25 miles to get there but it is well worth it for the quality and great customer service that they have!

It was Friday at 6:30pm when I called today and spoke with Matthew about my Jeep Liberty making a knocking noise, he said I could bring it in and that me might get to taking a look at it tomorrow. Dropped it off to a clean, neat and inviting auto shop expecting a huge bill and to see it sometime next week. Boy were my expectations wrong! Not only did I get a phone call back from Matthew by 7:30pm the same day saying that he and his team had already looked at my vehicle- but that it was fixed (was a wiggly tire) and that there was no charge for the simple fix! He even stated that I could come by and pick it up right away. In less than 2 hours I picked up my Jeep and it runs smooth. I will definitely recommend this shop to anyone- Matthew and his team are wonderful and honest! Thanks Bona Brothers!
