Great repair shop! Gets it done from the start

I stayed at the hotel next door from this place. So, I took my truck there for some service because I was hearing noise coming from my vehicle. They got me in right away and told me they’ll call to give me an update. After an hour or so, they gave me a call to let me know I needed brakes all the way around and a left ball joint. I gave them the okay to go ahead and fix my vehicle. They were provided with warranty information etc. They allegedly fixed my vehicle. I picked up my vehicle the next day and told I didn’t have to pay because they charged my warranty (but it was for a service that they didn’t complete). No receipt was given to describe what service was given. As I left the shop my vehicle was make a different noise and a slight shake that I wasn’t feeling before. I called back to the shop and they said since the brakes was new that they gone make noise. So, me and my significant other drive back to Wisconsin. After a couple days the noise and shake gets worse. I took my vehicle to the dealership for a diagnosis. I was told and showed by video that my brake system was messed up. My brakes were put on backwards and they had a lot of slack. The metal clip was shaved off due to improper installation. I called the shop and let them know what was going on with my vehicle and what can they do to accommodate me since they were the ones to cause the problem with my vehicle. They told me the work was done and nothing they can do about it. Please be careful letting these people work on your vehicle. They very rude and unprofessional. I sent them the videos and my invoice and still haven’t received a call or anything. They could’ve costed me and my significant other our lives driving our vehicle like that back home on the expressway.

OK. This may take a bit to write. I needed a transmission either rebuilt or replaced. Told them whatever was cheaper, go ahead and do. They estimated $1800 (just did one exactly like yours last week) to rebuild, or $1650 + labor for a replacement (labor is cheaper for a swap than rebuild for obvious reasons). So, I chose to let them rebuild mine (expecting $1800 since it was $1800 last week for the exact same job). They rebuilt it, took 3 days, and charged me $2100 ($1000 of that was labor). I paid them. Day 2 it's shifting hard from 1st to 2nd, I call, they say bring it in, they'll adjust it. It starts running hotter than normal, while I'm driving it around town, so I ask them to change the Water pump & a coolant sensor (kicked out a false hot coolant the previous week) while they had the transmission out adjusting it. I call at the end of the day, and they tell me the bill is $250. 2.9H labor... To change a water pump (I can do it in an hour alone in a parking lot, and I'm not a mechanic). At this time I tell them, I'll pay them, but they won't get anymore of my business. I ask if I was paying for the transmission adjustment labor, he says they didn't touch the transmission. Then tells me I must have talked to someone that didn't relay all the information (not my problem). I tell him I'm on my way, don't worry about it, I'll get it checked elsewhere. I drive there, 10m drive, and my car is in the garage with the hood up. I pay the $250, and wait 10 more minute for them to finish my car. 20m to fix a hard shift on a transmission, 2.9H to change a water pump. You got my money, have a nice life. No one should EVER use this shop. Unless you're broke down in front of their shop, go elsewhere... Try calling a tow to ANYWHERE else. They're crooks. They even dented my front fender, and left greasy handprints all across the front of my car. Shop owner is calling me in the morning about the dent, but I'm done with them. Shams. Totally unprofessional. Hope they go bankrupt. Please, if you are reading this BEFORE using them, use someone else. *Update My car has been back in to them 3 times for the transmission they rebuilt. They dented my front fender, left Grease all down both front fenders (hand prints). And, my car still won't shift out of overdrive (downshift) once it's warm, into passing gear (to climb a hill on interstate). Honestly don't know what to do. They NEED to fix their work, but I don't trust them anymore. They even tried to blame it on an intake manifold... Took it to another mechanic, whom fixed it for half what he said, and it wasn't the manifold. I just needed a coil. These guys are crooks, and I am stuck letting them NOT fix my car... I want so badly to reduce my rating to a 1 star, but my transmission IS shifting... Just not correctly

We stayed at the hotel next door for my birthday, we woke u to a flat tire. Definitely thought I we needed a tow. I walked in to this establishment and Brad was happy to help us with an air tank. Needless to say, he saved us. Much appreciated. Thank you so much for being so kind.

The owner Brad has been great. He trys to help you understand whatever problems you're having by breaking it down for you. Sounds very knowledgeable and up on the technologies. ??

Very rude disrespectful. Called me a liar because I am a female. Told me I wasn’t telling the truth about my vehicle. Never go there. Grease everywhere. Wanted to charge me for doing nothing to my car. They need to be reported to the bbb and the state

This is the worst place ever. Who puts parts in backwards when they are labeled L and R then charges me twice for labor on work he did. Do not go here or you'll be paying for all the damage his work causes.. puts in a transmission and charges me twice for the labor that he did cause he put a junk one in. That was bad within 24 hrs..

Brad and his staff at Melvindale Motor and Transmission were very accommodating, patient and fair. Brad kept me informed along the way with updates, photos and explanations of charges associated with the rebuilding of the transmission. Overall I am pleased.

I had a transmission leak they were very professional, they went far and beyond to take care of the issues. and very reasonable. I'm very happy with their work I will definitely recommend this place

This place is great, nice bunch of guys!!Brad did an inspection on my truck and showed me everything that should be taking care of but no pressure to take care of now! I walked under my truck to see what he was seeing, never had that happened before! Great job, price was right and I will be back to have more fixed on my old baby truck that I can’t part with! Great service . Had a loud noise coming from the front axle. Dropped it off for an inspection. They diagnosed problem worked up a quote. Repairs made in a timely manner. Vehicles running great now.

I’ve been taking my vehicles to Brad for years now and have always been satisfied with the work done and the price. The staff is honest, hard-working, and I always feel confident taking my vehicle to Melvindale Motor & Trans.

Brad and Bob were super courteous and knowledgeable. They took the time to properly diagnose the problem but also got the work done really fast and for a very fair price. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a relaible mechanic.

Had my ram promaster serviced here. Vehicle was originally at the dealer, dealer told Me I needed a transmission. Came here to get second opinion. Brad the owner found the actual issue. Turned out to need a transmission flush and a reset on the module. Saved me over 4k. Would recommend, Brad a straight up guy

Do not come here. Beware they will con you out of your money. Brad (owner) sounds so good but his words don’t match his work. Smh after all this he voided my warranty claims I’m at fault when took it to another shop they inspected the parts used and it was the cheapest parts you can get in the market when he charged us for top brand name parts.

Our radiator wasn't working properly and our break pads were grinding our rotors. Brad was amazing got everything fixed in less than a week and worked with us through the whole process. Amazing customer service with reasonable expectations. Very kind and friendly. Treats you like a close friend rather than just another customer! Highly recommend!

Brad and the guys to our rescue again my suburban got stuck with a bad starter thank you all for getting us back on the road so quick! This is the second time great people great service. Only shop I want to work on my vehicles  Thank you again you guys are awesome!

First time ever going here. Took my daughter's car to them to get her transmission looked at. Everyone there was very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. This place is great Honest, hardworking, problem solving mechanics who get the job done and done right. Brad, Mac and John will treat you like family (the good side you like) And seek the best lowest cost fix for your car and not run up a bill or sell you a bill of goods. If the job can be done you will be on your way With a smile and a prayer from mechanics who care about you.

Great place they do great work and are very honest and don't try to rip you off! As a female it's hard to trust someone when you know nothing about cars. The owner is more than happy to explain EVERYTHING to you even if you don't understand what he is talking about. I will go back here for the littlest problem to the biggest because I know they are honest and will get it done right.
