Family auto has always been good to us. They usually give you a decent quote and come in under it. They are good, knowledgeable people who will tell you when it's time to consider moving on from an old car. I appreciate their honesty and knowledge. I have recommended them to my friends and family numerous times.
Put a fuel pump in an Aspen I have less than a year ago. Was supposed to have a year warranty that wasnt up yet. 2 or 3 times it was in trailered in once. Has stranded us many times because and they won't back it up. They cut a hole in floor because 08 Aspen did't have one and they were just hitting fuel pump to get it started again. They charged $150.00 to replace 2 Connecters and 6 inches of wire on a ground I pointed out.. changed fuel pump and codes went away and starts every time. I
wouldn't take a wagon there.
Haven't had any problems with it starting since I replaced fuel pump. It has dropped all codes on its own except a low tire warning because they put the new tires on it as well and didn't check or change sensored valve stem.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and will never try to sell you something that you don't need. I have recommended them to several friends and will not take my vehicle anywhere else.
I went in and asked about getting mytruck aligned, the man came out, looked under truck and said he could doit.i said it was missing camber pin but I would buy new ones and the other camber parts to install also, he said great. After my wife dropped it off he must of seen a sucker cause he got her. Called and said upper control arms were bad and had to be replaced first. They were only a couple months old but we live on a dirt road so they were dirty. He ordered $500 uca and charged me still to install camber parts even tho he had to take them off and on to install the uca. Our bill was almost $1500 to get an alignment with brand new parts already there. They see a woman and thats it, they will milk u for all u got.
Extremely helpful. They had my items in stock and offered to help replace the rear window wiper for me that was an odd size. Very friendly and appreciated. Absolutely recommend.
Tried to!!!!! terrible communication wasted my time and gas going over there for nothing because they don't let you wait there for your vehicle to get front end alignment done that they failed to mention over the phone .
We have had them work on a couple vehicles and they always done us right. They are pretty quick. Most recent is starter on my car. Called yesterday morning and they got it in yesterday to look at and fixing it this morning. I call that great service. Not always this quick though, but they are thorough.
My experience with family auto starts with dropping my car off due to overheating issues.
Originally I thought it was the thermostat because the car was not leaking any coolant, but still overheating. They call me, and informed me that I have a fault code for the sensor in my radiator. They tell me that's the reason my vehicle is overheating, so it needs to be replaced. Originally it was going to cost me roughly $800.00 for the thermostat, the radiator sensor was $1,590.00. I thought whatever I need my car to attend my summer classes at kvcc, so I gave them the green light to order the sensor.
After two and a half weeks they tell me to come pick up my vehicle. I don't make it to Meijer on West Main before my car is overheating. I bring the car back, and they tell me it was overheating because the vehicle was not bleed properly. Then why release my vehicle to me Family Auto? So they say they need a special tool to bleed my vehicles cooling system. They ordered the tool, and tell me to come pick my vehicle up. It's still overheating, and didn't make it as far as it did last time ??. They said it was probably my thermostat, and said they would not replace said thermostat.
They did give me a small refund of $150.00. How does that seem fair, or a good business practice? They left me with no vehicle. I had to drop my summer classes because of attendance ?.
Summary!
If you like your vehicle, and money stay away from Family Auto. They'll rob you blind, and leave you with out a vehicle. Literally spend your money anywhere else!
Expensive & instead of doing the work as expected they charged over half the cost and said it couldn't be done due to missing parts. In the end there were no parts missing and another establishment was able to get the job done.
Quick turn-around for emergency cooling system repair while on road trip. Very welcoming when every other repair shop including the dealer in Pawpaw was not able to service promptly. Made a difficult predicament end quickly. Very nice folks.
Thanks to Family Auto for quickly fixing my Jeep Commander when it wouldn't star. Turns out the fuel pump power connection was corroded. Shawn and his mechanics were fast, fair, friendly, and professional. -Dave

I really didn't like the fact that when I called for a price i was told a reasonable price but once I got there I didn't pay the price i was told.. I ended up paying $4 more then I was quoted.
Guess ill shop around more before jumping the gun on this place because its closer.
People are nice don't get me wrong but to change the price on someone isn't cool nor a good way to keep business.
This place was awesome. I stopped in for new windshield wipers. While I was paying the bill another gentleman was outside putting them on my car. I was in and out in less than 5 min. They were very friendly and made me feel like the really apprecaited my business! Love that
