My front fender liner suddenly tore loose while I was driving in Troy, dragging and scraping loudly. Stranded 1.5 hours from home, I stopped at Tuffy, and the team was incredible. They quickly trimmed the damaged section so I could drive safely back to Lansing. When I tried to pay, they refused, saying helping was enough. I was so impressed and I’ll do a full repair at Tuffy in Lansing coming week. Trustworthy, kind, and professional. Tuffy is simply the best. Highly recommend!
Don't get your oil change or a tire rotation at this location. You will sit there for an hour and a half regardless. If you're vehicle is done, and close to lunch time your vehicle will sit up on the host until they are done.
Today I said something to the manager, he had a smart ass answer to me and it set me off.
I'll tell all my friends not to go to this Tuffy in Troy ever again.
The staff was helpful and knowledgeable they found the cheapest way of solving for the problem quickly. I happen to found them because they where the only shop open at 6am.
Called them to get my tire fixed since I had a nail in it. They had a full schedule but said to bring in my car and would work me in. Literally had this fixed in 20 minutes, before the guys had a big job to get started on. VERY appreciative to fit me and fix it so efficiently. Had been here in the past and always a good experience. Highly recommend coming here. Great customer service which is hard to find these days!! Thanks again.
Engine fan continued running after vehicle engine was turned off due to mechanic not completing the maintenance work.
This resulted in me having to return from home, back to the shop to have the issue resolved.
I’ve taken my truck over to the guys for a few different things, they are always up front with me giving me an honest opinion of what I need to do, don’t need to do, and what might be my best options. Really appreciate having stand-up people when it comes to getting car repairs done you don’t find that all the time.
I’ve been a long-time customer, but ever since the family owner sold to a corporate store, it’s just not the same. I had the worst customer service here. We called on Friday to schedule an appointment for an oil change and brake service, and were given a Tuesday slot. We dropped the car off Monday evening. By Tuesday at 5 p.m., when we called to check if it was ready, we were told the car hadn’t even been looked at.
What followed was a string of changing excuses, and I was told I’d be contacted by the manager who had scheduled the appointment. When he finally called, instead of apologizing, he yelled at me because I was upset that my car had been sitting there untouched for 24 hours. Completely unacceptable.
In the end, the work took two full business days — for an oil change. And while we originally thought brakes were needed, it turned out to be tires instead. I’m giving two stars only because I do believe the work itself was done correctly.
But the lies, the lack of communication, and being yelled at by a manager were too much. This was my last time doing business here.
I have been going to Tuffy,s for many years. I like the service and the friendly atmosphere. They have given my car the best of care over the years.

Tuffy is awesome repair shop. The manager Kevin took care of us and was very honest about the severity of the problem for my wifes 2011 Mercedes E550 after the brake lines failed. We saved thousands of dollars by having Tuffy put in new brake lines instead of the dealership. I highly reccommend this compnay to fix cars that are off warranty.
Mike, Kevin, Tom, and the other guys over here always do a fantastic job. They’re welcoming, the prices are fair, but above all else they’re always honest in their diagnosis and inspections. Their courtesy inspection is easily accessible online with photos of what they found in the inspection and a detailed breakdown of their findings. The system they use for their estimates/authorization of repairs is extremely user friendly so you understand what you’re paying for, and why you need your repairs. I’m new to the area from out of state and my local mechanic back home recommended Tuffy Troy specifically, so I visited them when my check engine light came on. They got me in same day, provided me with a thorough inspection, took care of the engine light issue and communicated with me clearly throughout the entire process. Mike and Kevin were so kind and knowledgeable, updated me on my vehicle often and made me feel welcome while I lurked around their waiting area all afternoon. Their thorough inspection was typed up and photographed and shared with me digitally as well, which I appreciated so I could reference it later and share with others. I would both recommend their services and use them again in the future!
Had a marvelous experience with Kevin and Tom!! They were absolute professionals and took great care of me and my vehicle. They took every opportunity to help correct the problem the moment I arrived but when it became evident that the issue was far more serious (snapped idler pulley) they explained everything in detail and even used illustrations to make sure I completely understood the issue. They then performed and entire vehicle safety check and then updated me on other optional repairs. I will return to them as soon as possible for my next repair! Thanks for an amazing experience especially when the issue with my car was so sudden and unexpected.

Needed a brake job done fast, they gave me a total and it was very high but because I needed it done, I paid it. Picked the car up Saturday night, got on the road, and within a mile *my rotor broke and my brakes partially failed.*
Drove back going 15mph. Later learned the rotor separated (they said they had never seen it do that before) and they claimed to me they test drove the car. If there were more cars on the road I would've hit someone in front of me.
Because of this, I missed a 4-day trip to Chicago (had booked an Airbnb.) I asked if they'd be willing to refund anything from my missed nights and they refused. They did a repair for a new rotor, but said it was on the manufacturer to refund me for my trip.
I get it - it technically isn't their fault, but I wanted them to actually advocate for me and "do the right thing". I lost a few hundred dollars on my Chicago trip and overpaid for my brake / rotor job. They said they'd tell the manufacturer about my losses to see if they'd be able to reimburse me from them, and I wouldn't have left this review had they shown me the email or if they ever got a response, but I've heard nothing for about 3 weeks so here it is.
On the phone one of the owners was very stern after I asked for a refund.
Never going back there.
This place has AMAZING men willing to go the extra mile. They were so kind to help me in a pinch when my brakes went out! They took the car right away, stayed later then expected, and gave me a reasonable and fair price. I couldn’t be happier and have total faith in their expertise. I have never met a more passive aggressive company in my life. Not only did the people there try to charge me over $4,500 for something that wouldn’t even be half the cost. They also never gave me a full listing of what everything would cost individually. They also damaged a small part of my car when the tow truck came to get it since they refused to help at all. Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who wants a fair price for any repairs.
Tires is worse than when i brought it to them yesterday. Brand new tire had a nail in a salvageable part. tire held air after filling up to get there and looked good and then two hours later after leaving with a “patch” it was completely flat

The general manager, Kevin, and the Tuffy technicians were phenomenal! Very professional and quick to repair my muffler for a fraction of the cost compared to replacing the entire muffler system at my dealership. I couldn’t be happier with my experience! Highly recommend!
I’ve been coming here for over 7 years. John is the best. It is a family owned business and they take such good care of me and my vehicle. They have coloring booking and crayons for kids, as well as a multitude of snacks. They get you in and out and their service is unbeatable. My experience with Tuffy Tire and Service center on Maple Road in Troy was very pleasurable. The team is very thoughtful, polite and welcoming. This is my second visit I feel very comfortable and confident leaving my vehicle, knowing that it will be serviced at a high-level.
There is always a high level of communication throughout the process and I sincerely feel that price wise they considered my pocket.
Honestly, I do not normally trust Car Repair businesses or mechanics at the level that I trust this particular service center.

I have had a lot of vehicle work done in this state but have never had a full diagnostic test on my vehicle, free of charge, that allowed me to choose which repair I need done. Kevin, the store manager, was awesome in character and knowledge. A true gentleman that really took time to see that our vehicle was properly repaired. This introductory gesture satisfied my and my wife so much that we want Tuffy to be our personal car repair shop! We are very pleased to know that all the repairs didn't have to be done at the same time, which saves money and helps us know what damages are most important. Thanks Kevin and the Tuffy staff for a job well done!
I strongly recommend you NOT go to this place. I only need to change the engine oil but they tried to rotate my tires that my car just did two weeks ago, they damaged few lug nuts and cannot fix them and then just ignore it. I have to take my car to Bell Tire to fix it and they ignore my two legal letters for the reimbursement.
