Well, I’ve donated to numerous organizations before but this one takes the prize. The guy they have accepting the donations in the back may want to consider another line of work. His demeanor could not be more angry, negative, or condescending. Last time I checked people are donating things, for free, so they can turn it around and sell it for profit. You’d think they would consider someone with a less abrasive attitude being the face of their main income stream. I’ll be donating elsewhere in the future.
Small space. Very few men’s items. Music way too loud; seems more like a concert than background music. This is a second hand store with used clothing items not on consignment; why are some priced so high?
Prices here are a complete joke now. The store is TINY and the men’s section is basically nonexistent. Charging $28 for used free people shorts is crazy. I will not be back to the new location.
Won't be shopping here again, unfortunately, so I wanted to leave a review as to why. Place is really small, no fitting rooms would fit unless they converted a bathroom into a changing room. I understand no color sales until October, but I was here Sept 30th, a Tuesday, and still no specials. They should've started it on Monday. They have lots of clothes, shoes, outerwear, kids items, home decor, decent furniture selection, but I really needed bed sheets and pillows and found nothing. The rack is maybe a few feet long worth of all the bedding/ towels/ pillow cases they have. Other thrifts have several aisles worth. The pricing is inconsistent. I found a great pair of like new pants at $2.99, then the next similar style and brand, $14.99. Many basic shirts $2-$4, great, then suddenly $12.99. Snow shoes I was interested in, $39.99, I couldn't believe it. I picked up so many items to put them right back. What is the point of a thrift store? 4 coasters they wanted $3 a piece for and I found them all scattered in different aisles, lucky to complete the set, I took them but it wasn't a fair deal, they should have been $6 for the set maybe $8 in a bag together. Just a let down over all, employees are very welcoming and friendly, but I will not be back since there are better locations who put a little more thought in pricing fairly, keeping sets together, etc.
Update: This Salvation Army moved across the street next to Dollar General and the Romeo Movie Theater for anyone wondering!
Just moved to Romeo and found this store,so far everyone has been nice and great ecperience. Found some good clothes for my husband and son. And a cheap dresser yesterday. Will be going back soon.
I'm not impressed with the new location. First of all they have no changing rooms. So if your clothes don't fit, you have 3 days to return for a store credit. Also for the first several months, no color tag discounts at all. So for a 3T pair of USED sweatpants for my toddler grandson it was $3.99. Better off shopping on marketplace!
They must be closing this location, the nice older guy working donations advised me they will no longer accept any donations at this location. Just a FYI to anyone looking to donate, dont waste your time coming here. 1 star because it doesnt state this information anywhere online and i drove out of my way with a trailer of heavy furniture for no reason.
I have always supported Salvation Army and what they do for the community, however, I am done dropping things off at this location.
I never take anything in poor condition to any donation center. Junk is junk and belongs in the trash. I’ve gone to this location on numerous times and had the same issue with the same guy. If it’s heavy and he doesn’t want to move it he refuses to take it for some ridiculous reason. I will support other charities, not this one.
Omggg who thought this was a food idea needs to be FIRED! ridiculous... There is no way yiu can find anything in this dumpster fire set up! Raise prices AND set up like this.... I won't be back!
Would have been nice to get the brand new Home Depot bins back from the items I donated. Only reason I put them in the brand new bins is because they were returned to me the last time I donated. Guess it depends on which person you get in the back. The gentleman this time around was extremely rude.
I can't enjoy coming to the store anymore because every time I go there is an employee who hums loudly the whole time and won't stop even if we ask her to..
It's just infuriating and I have to just stick earbuds in and turn my music up, I shouldn't even have to do that. But it makes me spend less time in there due to it.
This isn't a review of the store itself but of its drop-off. There isn't a sign to tell you which way to approach the back of the store. I went to the back and an old guy used his hands to signal like I needed to approach from the other direction. So I drove up further and turned my vehicle around just to see a sign that shows you need be in the direction I had just been going. So I do another big u-turn to get in position to pull between their signs and he's waving at me to stop which is what I was doing because there was a pickup truck in the drop off spot. A young woman unloaded that vehicle and I waited. When that vehicle left I pulled up. The young woman stayed inside unpacking the bags that were just dropped off. The old guy and another woman who just walked in from her smoking break were just standing in there not doing anything. No one was coming out to get my stuff. I'm watching them and they're just ignoring that a vehicle was right outside their door. The signs say stay in your vehicle so that's what I was doing. I just was about to pull off and leave when the young woman came back out to get my stuff. Then as I was pulling away I saw in my rear view mirror that the old guy came out and was staring at me giving dirty looks and saying something to the woman. I don't know what that was all about! It was so weird. I was at 2 other Salvation Army stores in the last 2 days to drop off stuff with no problems. I came by this one cuz it was near where I was going for dinner so I figured it would be a quick and easy stop. But that guy made it clear that I shouldn't bother coming to this store. I know Salv Army doesn't care where stuff is donated, but this experience has irritated me. Maybe I'll just stick to donating to St Vincent DePaul.
First off, I want to start by saying I support the salvation army and what the do ... I am a big fan and appreciate what they stand for .. But as for the store out in Washington , absolutely disgusted me with their prices.. They had items in there they were trying to sell for well over retail price.. a plastic fisher price toy desk with dirt still on It they wanted 160$ for and that's just one example .. I have gone here for years and now I won't be returning .. shame on this outfit of the salvation army .. whoever is setting prices there is greedy and doesn't represent what the salvation army is about .SHAME , on this store ... I hope someone reads this and steps in to do something about this .. if you don't belive me go see yourself . This is just unacceptable and disgusting..
First time shopping at this location. It has lots of clothing items. Not as many home and furniture pieces as I hoped. Fast service and quick check out line. I would try it again and hope they received more donations by the next time I pop in.
Checkout workers are VERY slow, so there’s always a long line. Workers are always rude as well. At checkout during our last visit they said they were a bag-less store *which isn’t posted anywhere on the doors or anywhere else for customers to see* and we had a bunch of small glass items and we basically had to beg for them to even give us newspaper to wrap them in. Just never have a good experience going in here. Also the prices seem like they’ve doubled compared to other salvation army’s and goodwills.
Shopping at the 30 mile store near Romeo used to be fun. The prices have doubled (and sometimes tripled) for what is DONATED!
I have had conversations with other shoppers who also see this. I actually picked up an item that had the SA sticker price of $12.99 and turned it over to see the original brand new price of $14.99! For that, I’ll buy it new. Not sure I want to continue donating to this store, or shopping there! The manager is also very unfriendly there.
I like going to the Romeo salvation Army family store. I was a little disappointed that I was told in the past that they no longer were using the S.A.F.S. red bag for discounts. Then find out today that they still are, that they are just not selling the bags anymore . I spend a good amount when I come in and any discount is a plus. Will I come back? Sure I will, just had to vent on this one. ?
Far less of a bargain than it used to be. Apparently the management is trying to up the profits on donated goods. When the resale price of stuff approaches the "new in box" price it's time to take a walk. Store staff is always friendly though. EDIT 4/21. Would not accept my furniture donation calling it "broken" (it wasn't....just had random scratches). Same quality/condition in the store, but I guess the dock help didn't feel like unloading it. Not the first time they didn't want to accept our donations of "acceptable items" per their signage but definitely the last time we will bring donations here. I guess taking free stuff and selling it at 100% profit isn't part of their business model any more.
I have been coming her for 10 years. Used to be a great store but now there is this rude lady that works there that puts away clothes. She blocks off the entire back of the store with her racks and is very rude. She will go right up to where you are looking and move you out of the way to put clothes back without saying excuse me. She acts as if I am inconveniencing her by shopping at the store. Sometimes all she does is complain about her work loudly for all to hear. I ignored all of this for some time but now it is not even fun to come here anymore. When talking with my friends and family they knew exactly who I was talking about. If she hates her job that much, maybe she should find something that will make her more happy because I now refuse to shop at this location.

I went to donate few items today: small electric appliances such as an air humidifier, a bread machine, a foot spa , an electric stove top , a waffle toaster but also a hardwood floor pneumatic nailer , a Runco overhead projector that needed a new bulb , a Denon video/audio receiver, a JVC DVD player, A cast iron skillet for BBQ and garden ticki torch lights; lump sum retail price over 500 dollars. Everything neatly packed in the original box with styrofoam protection. All items minimally or never used.
The bad experience started when the employee rudely told me he could only take 2 boxes, no toys, no books. Then he shouted through my open window to pull up the car because the car in front just finished unloading and he was too lazy to take the two extra steps distance from my car to the receiving goods pallet.
After looking the neath goods he announced that I was lucky and he would have taken everything. Let’s just pause for a second and think it over:
I’m driving 15 miles donating to you 500 + dollars of goods and ‘ I am the lucky one ?’ Either the world is changing or this guy’s brain is set up backward.
Finished downloading he closes the rear lift gate without a greeting nor a thank you.
What a bad attitude.
Next time I have something to donate I’ll go to others charity organizations.
Friendly staff! They obviously love their job, as I have been here a few times now, and they are always helpful and work as a team, whatever is being done. Donation center has excellent customer service- they greet you, unload your vehicle, quickly and efficiently, smiling all the while! I was very impressed! And that is why I go there! Store is clean and well organized too!
You have to have time to browse. Definitely not a store to go in if you're rushed. With patience, you can find some treasures at amazing prices. The staff is always very polite. Store can look chaotic at times, as the staff struggles to restock shelves correctly, mostly because customers don't put things back where they belong.
Daily sales, manager specials that change every day, you can't beat it! They support a worthy cause and I appreciate that they STILL close on Sundays like a traditional Christian store.
This is my favorite Salvation Army location by far. I've found some real treasures here, including a $6 silver plated hair piece that I polished to wear on my wedding day. I would go here every week given the chance.
I frequent Salvation Armys quite a bit, this one has nice staff and good selection but so many people go through a day almost everything of value such as collectors items are picked clean by mid week.
Other thing is this salvation army is significantly more expensive than some of the other ones I go to, I'd say in average expect stuff to be about 30-40% more expensive than a less popular Salvation army.
Still aside I have found some good finds as a Uranium Glass collector here, though much rarer than some other stores.
I was so surprised and disappointed in the way an employee by the registers talked to me on Saturday, August 13. My daughter and I shop here every week, but not anymore. I knew they were closing in 10 minutes but I forgot about a birthday party the next day at 11:00 am. I work retail myself for over 20 years, and I know how it is for someone to walk in 10 minutes before closing. There is a right way to handle it, and a very rude way to handle it. She decides to do it a very rude and embarrassing way to me and my daughter. I was running from the parking lot knowing I had only 5 minutes to look through the toy sections. Which by the way, are in the front of the store, right by the registers, in baskets on top of the girls clothes area. So this employee decides to only call me out directly and say, in front of a lot of customers in line, "You know mam we do close in 5 minutes," in a very rude way. I want to stress to the management here at Salvation Army that there is a nicer way to tell your customers you are closing, and THAT IS NOT to call out someone individually. Just announce over your intercom, Hello customers, we would like you to bring your final selection to register at this time. We will be closing in 10 minutes. I felt she was rude a second time, by announcing over intercom, "if you do not have your final purchases brought up to the register by 9pm, you cannot buy it!" Wow, this is NOT a professional way to speak to your customers!!! I hope you can find a nicer way to announce you are closing to your customers to not embarrass them or make them feel uncomfortable!!! Also, for how many people still in your store 10 minutes before closing, please change your website information it does say til 10pm. Maybe some customers saw that!!
