Bought a transmission from them and now I have to replace it, or have my transmission shop rebuild it. I have called, emailed and text prefer auto and have NOT been able to reach anyone. I should have spent the extra money and bought my transmission elsewhere. Now I’m back to square one.
Bought a motor from them a while back tried calling them many times , texting them, private messages on face book, MULTIPLE emails to get more info and details about the motor, i reached out to them 2 weeks ago and periodically through the weeks. And nothing. Not even sure if they are in business at this point. The certainly don’t bother checking their inboxes
As I read the reviews from other customers and their responses to the excellent service they received with the management team. My experience was not so great! I started out working with Joe. Joe appeared to be very helpful until I learned he switched the six month warranty that we agreed on from our text message.
I purchased an engine from Joe for my Range Rover. Had it installed and not even 5 days after the Range was ready for pickup the engine light came on. I took the Range back to the shop who installed the engine and had them run multiple test to determine why the engine light was on. Test proved that the engine had a combustion problem.
I called Christopher he had me send all the necessary information from the date my engine was purchased to the mechanic documented steps and procedures for installation along with the date the engine was complete. I did not drive 200 miles on my new engine and was told I had a 90 day warranty on my engine and the warranty expired. I asked Chris what can Prefer Auto do to assist me. Chris told me to email the requested information and they will work with me to resolve my issue.
Needless to say I have called Joe and Chris as well as emailed Emily to confirm next steps. They must have me blocked or purposely not answering my calls because No one will call me back and they are not answering my calls. I paid cash money to be treated like my money is no good. My car has been in the shop since October 2024 and still counting.
My advice to all customers make sure you get a 6-12 month warranty and do not accept quotes from Joe through text messages and most importantly Don’t Trust Anyone who tells you we will work with you if they are not the owner. Luckily for me I have six vehicles and decent job. If I was struggling this would be a disaster.
So I took a blind chance I believe from and add I saw on Facebook. I needed an engine for my Hummer H3, my everyday driver. Spoke with this gentleman by the name of Christopher. Super friendly and knowledgeable about his inventory. With some searching he found the lowest mile engine he had in stock. After receiving the engine we changed out every seal and gasket as well as any part that could fail in the future with new parts. After a few weekends of working on this project it was the moment of truth, time to turn the key. It started right up and purrs like a kitten. No issues, I got exactly what I said I was going to receive. Only issue I’d had was delivery time. It did take longer than expected. Other than that exceptional customer experience!

Bought a used engine for my 2012 Mercedes Benz ML350 Bluetec 4 Matic, supposedly had 55 K miles, turned out to be a junk, sent out from a salvage yard from Sacramento, the company never checked the fitment and they had hardly conditioned the engine. ran only 200 miles, started fuming, complained to the company about 3 months warranty, the company denied to honor it, though warranty had not expired they tried to sell me another engine for $2665 and that engine was for a different Mercedes model, while I complained that is not even ML350, their answer was it will fit... do not do business with this crooks...
I bought this 4.0 engine with 77,000 mi on it from Prefer Auto Parts from Chris Parker and it runs a brand new engine and I got it before estimated delivery time less than a week I am very happy with their service

It came way later than it was supposed to, but I did finally receive it.

After receiving my used motor, I inspected it and it was a quality engine, clean as it was promised.

The delivery time took too long, that's why I am only giving a 4 star rating.
Maybe in the future they will be more timely.

I bought a 3800 series 3 engine last year from this company. My salesman name was Christopher. The salesman was very polite and helpful in finding me the best price. My engine had 36,000 miles and I paid $500 with free shipping to my shop of choice. Highly recommend buying from this parts dealer.

Christopher was a professional. The engine I purchased was pretested and is running well. My only issue in the experience is that the year, model, make, vin was requested and expected only for them to send me a engine that was "compatible" but 5 years older than my current engine - vehicle is a 2017 and engine provided was a 2012. There should have been prior disclosure, I would have refused the 2012 engine. I found out from my long time mechanic half way through the install. That was the first I heard of the engine being "compatible". Christopher did provide a professional experience apart from the nondisclosure situation. I would suggest giving the customer all of the information, allowing them to make a decision as to wether they would like a lesser engine. In my case though the "2012"lesser engine was compatible, the current engine "2017"did have improvements to the engine that I would of liked to keep.
This company did find me a bed as I requested. I was told by Tom it was a great bed that only needed 1 to 2 hours of labor to re-paint because the clear coat was coming off. I received several pictures that confirmed the clear coat and paint, but the truck bed was filled with stuff. After several request to see the inside of the truck bed with the stored parts removed, I was told by Tom there were was major damage to the bed. So I agreed to receive the truck bed. When it was delivered I noticed the front side of the bed closeted to the cab had a HUGE dent that would not allow the bed to fit until the dent was corrected. So after 4 plus hours of labor I was able to make it work. Tom also told me he would get me a dent free bumper. The one I received had several dents that had to be repaired.....
We purchased a engine for our H3 with this Company. I was pleasantly surprised at the professionalism in handling this transaction. The communication with Christopher in this easy step by step process was amazing and He made it extemely smooth!! And the delivery of the engine was done in a timely manner. I admit I was skeptical about paying for the engine up front before delivery but we are so glad we did.
