I cannot stress how great this shop is! They got me in quickly and had the car fixed at a fraction of what I thought it would cost to fix a recently bought used 2014 Chevy 6t40 transmission. I was ready to get it rebuilt based on the symptoms (would not move in any gear and would even roll in park). Howard had it fixed in just a couple of hours!!!!! Talk about an honest mechanic, they found someone else had worked on it and the axle was not properly seated in the transmission. This caused the axle splines to strip off the axle. Luckily the splines were fine in the transmission so it only required an axle replacement. I was happily surprised when they gave me the bill. I know what parts cost and the time it takes to do this job, their price was beyond fair. So glad to have such a great resource close by for when I get into something beyond my expertise. I do ALL my own work but knew I was better off letting someone who rebuilds transmissions everyday do the work. I towed the car in around 9 am and drove it home by 2pm the same day. I would send my wife, sister or mother to Howards knowing they would be treated fairly and charge less than anywhere else for quality work. Again, I have am a real car guy who does all my own work and this family owned business will treat you like family.
Pulled into work and my car started yelling at me—beeping like crazy because my back tire was down to 12 PSI. ? I called the shop I normally go to, but lately, they’ve become super rude and treat people like a number. So I decided to see who else was in the area and found Howard’s Auto. Gave them a quick call, and the woman at the front desk was so nice—she told me to bring the car right in and they’d do their best to have it done by the end of the day.
Mind you, I noticed the tire issue around 1:30 PM, rushed over to the shop, and they were clearly slammed. Even so, the staff took the time to greet me, get my info, and reassured me they’d call when it was ready. Sure enough, by 4:45 PM I got the call—it was all done!
They found an industrial screw lodged in my tire, removed it, and patched me up perfectly.
This was a mini-emergency for me, and they got me back on the road within a few hours. Super grateful for how fast, kind, and professional everyone was. The price was fair, the service was excellent, and they’ve officially won me over. Thank you, Howard’s Auto—you’ve got a new loyal customer! ???

Made an appointment with them to fix a rusted out fuel pump on my Silverado that was leaking like sieve. They were fast and friendly. They had it done the next day and it only took that long because they had to order the pump, otherwise it would have been done that day ! They had it up on the rack a couple of hours after I dropped it off and I know this because I could see it in their shop on the lift when I drove by. What really impressed me was when I picked it up, the mechanic brought the old pump out and explained to me exactly what he did . I knew everything he told me was legitimate because we have a fleet of these trucks at work and I've seen this same repair on several of them when they get up there in milage. And here's the thing, they fixed it for 1/3 less than what most places charge do the same repair. They did not cheap out on the parts either because the pump they put on is actually made by Federal Mogul and is as good as the original AC Delco (they gave me the part numbers also and having worked in quality control for the auto manufacturers for several years before my current job I KNOW who made what even though it may be rebranded by the seller. ). This is important because if you put on a cheap pump you will probably be doing the job all over again before too long. All in all I was completely satisfied and it was a pleasure doing business with them and next time I need a repair done I'm calling Howard's !!!
My Toyota had a minor transmission leak that Fox Toyota spent 5 days and charged me $250 and couldn't find the leak. They said they'd have to drop the transmission to find it. After a year of drips I took the car to Howard's Transmission to check the fluid level and add fluid. I told him I didn't want to spend more money finding the leak but just wanted him to top off the fluid. He called me after looking at the car and said he'd found the leak and it was in a corroded transmission line. He replaced the line and filled the transmission and the bill was LESS THAN what Toyota charged me for fixing nothing!!!! Howard did a great job for me and I will take my vehicles there in the future. Thanks Howard!
We had a tire pressure system said the tires going low. We went on Facebook and they said they would take care of us right away. Howard’s Auto cares about there customers in about any problems with your vehicle. We love Howard’s Auto in Almont. Howard’s Auto is the Best.

Tripled the price without verification from customer. I could have bought brand new item instead of rusted used item that they charged me for. Just to get money from me Very poor customer service. I was told they were awful?

Granted that it did take a while before my vehicle was done, it was done correctly and it actually wasnt as much as what i was thinking it was going to cost me. Ran about 705 for the removal of the transmission and whatever parts needed to be replaced then another 440 for what had been wrongnwith the motor. Well worth it in my opinion. Thank you howards transmission
They test drove our car and told us to change the tires because the front one were worn..sure enough that's all it was ..all wheel drive cars have to have tires that are all worn evenly or it will mess w the cars drive train..and the didn't charge us a dime..highly recommend them!!
I would just like to say that my experience at Howard transmission was excellent he diagnosed my problem right away it's exactly what he thought it was fixed it in a Couple days a never had a problem after that I was very pleased, reasonably priced I would definitely go back again and highly recommend him I was treated well respected and concerned... he had a lot of care in how I felt I give him 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Howard is very friendly and knowledgeable. My transmission melted down because of a leak in the trans cooler and he came up with repair and replacement options that were far cheaper than expected.
He came in a about a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the estimate for a complete rebuild and he even recharged my A/C fully instead of just taking out what was in the system and putting it back in, since the trans cooler and A/C condenser was a single unit.
We also got a cool little keychain flashlight and they washed my car for me.
It took a few phone calls to get an estimate and my car was gone for about a month. I

I've taken my car to Howard's on multiple occasions and to put in perspective how amazing I think they are, I drive 45 minutes to get to them. They are friendly and fair and i couldn't ask for better service. Thank you so much Howard's!
They have always done a fantastic job. They know be by first name and have always been good to me. Ive been taking my vehicles there for well over five years now. Only down side is getting a repair done can take longer than expected. Prices are always cheaper than anywhere else.I would gladly give a five star but time has been an issue more than once. Perhaps its because they are always overly busy.
they were very nice in getting my car in for a diagnosis right away. they explained everything that needed to he done and actually showed me the broken part. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs transmission work
Went in for a tire repair and had two small children with me. They took my vehicle back right away and had me in and out in no time. They even pulled it to the door for me. Very friendly and fast. I'll be back.
We live 45 min south and our vehicle broke down a block away. Hoping it was something quick they put it on the hoist to get us back on the road, unfortunately it wasn't a quick fix. They were great explaining exactly what was wrong. The repair costs were more than fair, and the length of time they had our vehicle was not bad at all!!! Wish we had more honest places closer to home!! Thank you!!!

There service was slow and I wasn't treated at all nice dirt would be treated better there they didn't seem to know much I think jb transmissions is a much better place and jb trans clearly take pride look at how nice the place looks now!
The first initial repair of the transmission took about 2 weeks longer than expected here I am three months later and solenoid has gone bad he's had it for over a week I keep on telling him I need my truck to go to work when I called on Friday they told me they're working on it trying to get it done I said well if it's late theto lock the keys in the truck and let me know when it's done well they locked the keys in the truck but never called me and told me it was done I would not recommend taking your truck or vehicle to the same facility
$1900 and 5 mths I finally had to threaten with legalities to get my vehicle returned. When returned the transmission leaks so much it must be parked on cardboard, 1 quart in 2 days. When i took it back Howard now says he can't work on it.
Took my Silverado in with some ignition problems. I told them that I suspected it was the distributor cap since the motor was stumbling during wet conditions and specifically asked that they pull the cap and inspect it. Four (dry/sunny) days later they called me and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it and that it probably needed a "tune up" which consisted of a new air filter, plugs and an oil change for $350.00! LOL. I said "pass." They charged me $45.00 just to park it inside and outside the building for four days and they never inspected the cap like I asked. The following week I watched a few You tube videos and pulled the cap myself and discovered a 1/4 inch ash hanging from the #3 cylinder terminal. Bad distributor cap! I bought a new cap and rotor and the ignition problem was fixed. Lesson learned. These guys may be competent but they are way too busy. What angered me the most was the fact that I told them the likely problem and they didn't even follow up on it; they didn't want to waste their time on my vehicle. But they were happy to charge me $45.00 for parking. I could not recommend this shop.
I took my 1998 Eclipse Spyder GS in to have the automatic transmission rebuilt.
They missed their completion date by more than a week. (Due to wrong parts being ordered ect)
The trans was leaking fluid all over the driveway after driving it five miles home. Spent an hour tightening loose fittings.
The trans overheated and threw fluid all over the underside of my car after aprox 200 miles. It was 40 degrees outside.
The torque converter was not replaced initially but I was billed for it on the order. I'm guessing that's why it overheated after 200 miles.
Just after the warranty was up, the flex plate bolts came loose driving down the road. Had to remove the service plate and tighten them to spec. This indicated that they were not torqued to the proper ratio since they should never come loose. This could have caused major damage had I not recognized the symptoms.
They did fix the torque converter without asking questions. I didn't bother asking about the flex plate bolts because I wanted it done correctly.
2 stars because the trans is still working fine after fixing the issues described above and the price was slightly cheaper than the competition. I got what I paid for.
I cannot recommend this shop.
Maybe my experience was unique.
