On 10/16/25 around 5:28 PM, a driver from J’s Towing nearly sideswiped me on US-131 northbound, merging recklessly from the Hall St. ramp during rush hour, with his long truck. The driver didn’t take caution when entering high traffic. I had allowed space for others to merge safely, but J’s Towing forced their way in, trying to squeeze through a tiny margin— a move that could have easily caused a crash if I had gone any faster! My young child was in the car at the time, and I can’t imagine what impact this would’ve caused, thank God it didn’t. I then saw the driver continuing to speed and weave through traffic toward the S-Curve ahead of me. Whoever manages this Google business account should note that this driver is dangerous and should have his license or driving ability revoked. He is operating dangerously and putting lives at risk. This kind of behavior could easily result in a serious accident. With that being said, I’m reluctant to do business with J’s Towing if needing this type of service in the future.
They didn’t tow the vehicle to the location that I requested. They did not inform me of the incredibly high tow bill after I specifically asked them to inform me. And then when I questioned the $2300 tow bill, I was told by one of their drivers, “We can charge whatever we want to”. Because of these unfair and questionable business practices I will be reporting to the Attorney General Consumer Protection Agency. If we had full coverage they would have charged my insurance company this ridiculously inflated bill. This is why our insurance premiums are so high, because of this type of fraudulent behavior.
Shout out to Justin (driver) tonight for getting my car towed to the mechanic. AAA dispatch told me I could go home and wait since it was going to be a while yet and that I’d get text updates when the driver is on the way. The last text I received was a 67 min ETA. Justin called me when he arrived and had to wait about 5 minutes for me to return. He was very chill and understanding about it. He did great work and loaded/unloaded very efficiently and was very personable! Thank you!!
the people who run this company are incompetent slimeballs who tried to extort my boyfriend for $130 even though he had a parking pass for the apartment complex he was towed from. they are the lowest of the low. i would give zero stars if it was possible. i seriously do not know how it is possible that so much common sense was lacking in this entire situation. it’s completely ridiculous.
They were great I was waiting for 2 hrs on another towing service called them and they got me in 15 mins. Service was amazing, driver and dispatcher were also great!
Had my vehicle tow it was damaged in the process of being towed by j towing they paid for the alignment, but they will not pay for the damage done to the body
Damage was done to my car and still nearly a month later, minimal effort has been made to pay me for the damages. Including attempting to pay me less than half of what they owe me. I am still waiting on a full repayment.
Great service, picked up my BMW with absolutely no hassle or damage. Bill was my driver, he was professional and even helped jump my car to get the tow hitch for the BMW out of the locked trunk. Would strongly advise anybody to use J’s towing and ask for Bill over any other company in the area! Thanks J’s towing!
Fantastic service! The first time I used J’s they arrived pretty fast and helped me off the highway, the cost wasn’t bad either.
When I needed to get my car scrapped, I called a few places that were terrible then remembered J’s and called them. Emily answered and was knowledgeable about the situation then went on to give me some amazing advice! On top of that she seemed genuinely happy to help which you don’t see a lot!
Highly recommend to anyone local or in the GR area!
J’s Towing has been avoiding me after they damaged my basketball hoop in my driveway. I specifically asked them to bring a wheel lift tow truck as my truck was in the garage but they brought a flat bed anyway. I figured they know what they are doing more than I would. Well, they ended up hitting and bending my basketball hoop which was less than a year old. All good, accidents happen and I truly felt bad for the nice young man that did it. However, I expected the company to rectify the damage they caused or at least communicate with me to see what could be done. The dispatch lady was nice as well, but the owner not once returned a call or responded to an email after I was told he would. This is poor service and I advice not to utilize this company as there are plenty of others who I’m sure would take responsibility if they made a mistake.
J’s Towing helped me out of a pinch in GR. Dave, the driver, was outstanding and made sure my service dog and I were safe and taken care of. I will definitely request them again if I’m ever in need of roadside assistance or towing!
Locked my car keys, phone, wallet and winter jacket inside my car. Luckily found a J’s towing worker next door at an Auto shop on 28th st. He was very polite & eager to help, all within 5 minutes I was sent on my way. Thank you again so very much!!
Called on a Sunday to tow my jeep which wouldn't start to the mechanic. Driver was there within 30 minutes of calling dispatch, he tried to jump it first. He was friendly and efficient. Took only about 10 minutes. He dropped my car and my keys off to mechanic. With everything happening I forget his name, but service was great and price was fair.
Unbelievable rip off!
My daughter just got towed from about 25 feet off the road in a slide off at an exit ramp in Grand Rapids back onto the road and was charged $289! Do not use J’s towing! They take advantage of people when it’s snowing and charge them an unbelievably inflated price.
When I was stuck on the side of the road and needed a tow, both the dispatcher (I’m sorry I forgot her name) and Rodney were so kind and helpful. Very communicative and friendly—after dealing with an unnamed crappy insurance, they were a breath of fresh air!
Not sure why you’d ever call another tow company. These guys are the best in town by far. Professional, personable and most of all helpful. I’d wait an hour + just to make sure J’s takes care of it, even tho you wouldn’t have to wait, they’re quick and on it right away. 5 stars easy

Rodney was such a great driver. He was kind and patient when I wasn’t sure where I would be bringing my car. We ended up driving quite far to my mechanic and he was a great conversationalist! He had great things to say about J’s towing. Grateful for all of the help!
Stay FAR AWAY From this place… I had gotten into an accident recently and while tow driver came out quick, he said the company didn’t take insurance and I had to pay out of pocket right then and there.
$400… to bring it a few miles down the road back to j’s Towing. He refused to bring it to a repair shop that was closer than his ship because I wouldn’t pay out of pocket.
I had to literally argue with him and threaten to take legal action before he “realized” he can take my car back and have my insurance pay for it.
J’s Towing is a rip off as well. They charged my insurance company $880 dollars just to bring it back to their shop… no including “overnight storage”. They also charged my insurance company again for bringing to the repair shop I wanted to bring it to, to begin with…
Another $150… over $1000 for a tow less than 5 miles total drive?? This company should not be in business.

On my way into work today my lovely car decided to blow a coolant line so I called Js towing to get it towed to the shop. This was my first time ever having to get a vehicle towed and my god did they make it as straight forward as it could be, and for a great price! Unfortunately I don’t remember the incredibly nice lady I talked to but she did a phenomenal job, she explained every step of the process and even explained what I needed to do to get my insurance to cover it. The tow truck showed up within the hour of me placing the call and was out with my car loaded up in under 10 minutes. They left such a good impression that I saved their phone number because I will only go through them from now on. So thank you Js towing, you definitely deserve these 5 stars!
Tony showed up like a hero on Memorial Day - we were on our way to camping and had a full car and our dog, and our engine sputtered and stopped in a construction zone south of Grand Rapids. He recommended a local shop, got them on the phone (even though they were closed for the holiday), and got us there. We were so grateful, as AAA was not having luck finding someone to take us and our dog along. Thanks so much to Tony and J's towing for the friendly and prompt service, and helping us out in an unsafe situation!!
Had my vehicle taken from a parking spot because it was sitting for a long time. Ok this is understandable. But my $1000 sound system that has been in it for years is now suddenly missing. Called to talk to them and the 1st time they said they would tell the owner and he would call me back. He didn't. Gave him 3 days. Called back myself and they literally said they would do nothing not even ask the guy who took my car! Do not ever use this company. There is way better
While I'm sure there is a lot of good this towing company has done when helping members of the community when they've needed roadside help, I'm disgusted with a recent experience I had with them. On a Saturday night I visited a friend at the Off Broadway apartments to drink. After drinking and socializing for four hours I decided to be safe and get a ride home instead of drive. I go to pick my car up early next morning, and it was gone. I had mistakenly parked in the main lot, which I have never done before, and was towed the same night at 10:30pm before I even left the apartment complex. I recognize my folly, and should have gotten some kind of fine, or even towing, but I was charged an exorbitant amount of $260! I was furious to say the least. I had just paid my phone bill, and if I was living paycheck to paycheck, like so many do sadly, I would have been screwed. For a small mistake of not seeing the signs in the dark. After searching the lot for a number to call I found one, but was told the line was disconnected or changed, so I then had to search their google phone number. This was a predatory charge against me. When I asked for an itemized bill of some kind via phone call the receptionist hung up on me, and then I called again and I could tell she didn't know what to say, and I offered to drive there to get some kind of statement of all charges, and she said that would work best. I get there and was told by her that they don't provide them. I wasn't expecting a full list by any means, but $260 didn't sit right with me. I felt screwed over and the amount I was charged was absolutely ridiculous amount and feel as though I was taken advantage of without any protections.
The guys are great here and super nice/friendly! I personally have never had to use them but I work at a mechanic shop and encounter them a lot and have never had a problem with them! Some of the best tow guys around!! We have started recommending them to our customers because we love working with them and our customers have always been happy with them! Definitely the tow company I’ll use if I even need to!
I want to start off by saying thank you for your service. The tow service James was very communicative from the beginning to the end. He was very willing and understanding. The service was fast reliable and I couldn’t have been more satisfied with service selected through my insurance. From start to finish thank you for assisting me with service through Agero. I appreciate the dispatchers confirmation and getting James out to make sure my vehicle was parked safe and off the road. I recommend this tow service to anyone who is going through insurance and want service done correctly, accurate, timely and the way it should be. Even if it’s self pay the rate provided was reasonable as I wasn’t sure if I would be covered.Thank you for the service provided today!
