This place has gone down hill they rip people off people only go here cause nothing else is here . They used to issues checks or if u got one mailed its usually 3 or 4 days its been 11 days and they told me I had to wait 15 days then they will reissue a check and mail it out so more waiting. Some of the workers are rude
I looked up on the OmniSource website for Jackson, MI and it said under "what we buy" that they will buy and recycle televisions. I took my old television there and was told "I can't help what it says online, we won't take TV's." If I could give them a Zero star rating, I would.
Would give zero stars if I could. This company recently began running trains during the hours of 9pm-4am in the morning with the horns being blared excessively and sometimes even being honked into a song tune. I have contacted the company begging for them to stop or even expecting a response to no avail. My entire family is exhausted due to the trains keeping us up. This is a small town and their recent move to running trains during these hours with excessive honking is unbelievable.
My family and I have been loyal customers at the jackson location for more than 25 years. You do get your occasional employee having a bad day. But who's doesn't have a bad day from time to time ? Over all, I wouldn't trade em for anything. Great people, great location and fair pricing....
People are nice, prices are good, but the efficiency is terrible here. Get another scale and have people weigh in on one and out on the other. People cutting in line and the lines are long and just a mess
if you are picking up batteries from here you'll be asked to go to other place down the road, the space for dock is for straight boxes so you'll have to block the left traffic. the guy at the check in is impatient so prepare your PU and all that.good luck
The guys that weigh copper, brass, etc. Are awesome. They always offer a helping hand and step up to every vehicle eager to help. My kids love the popsicles during the summer. Keep up the great work guys!
First time going here and had a fine experience. The signage and road entrance area was a little difficult but after finding the right line for recreational recycling we were given instructions where to go for our steel drop off. Payment was simple. Other metals were to be taken right next door which the staff provided us those directions. Staff was cool polite and the trip was relatively quick.
Rude, unprofessional and generally miserable people were all I found at this place. They act like everyone comes there every day and knows exactly what to do. Very unfriendly/unprofessional employees at the scrap yard. Everyone at corporate that I spoke to was very pleasant (phone) but the bad taste from the yard people in person today, makes this rating a half star if I could.
Well first off it took 3 calls to get to the correct person, and she was not there to take my call.
Had an employee there tell me he would look at my pile of scrap and advise me on how big of roll off to order and he never showed up.
Everytime I call it goes to another city. Today the dispatch was also unavailable to take calls.
Seriously the worst service I have had in recent memory, wish I could say different but this has been my experience in the last 3 months

Large scape yard. 2 areas to drop off metals steel and non feros , batterys. Can take some time if lots of drop offs are a head of you. First timers not to worry staff very helpful will point you in right direction and how to complete drop off.
I occasionally take scrap metal to OmniSource. There are other scrap yards around and nothing against them. Because OmniSource makes it very easy to get it weighed and paid with a detailed receipt. I prefer to go there. The guys even put up with me occasionally forgetting proper backing up technic. I have seen people bring in a single dryer. While there is very little money it's better than taking it to the dump. I feel confident that you and Iwill be treated fairly.
very nice polite kind helpful people work there that is clean as far as y'all anywhere you touch except for your scrap metal and how dirty it is is there just going to get
Very friendly staff . quick and easy to unload area. Clean area to unload. Where else can you get paid to clean up metal you accumulate in your yard from working on cars and things.
Avoid doing business here at all costs. The people employed here are very nice but the corporation behind them treats it's customers like month old road kill. You have to jump through in numerable hoops to find out prices Pays abysmaly, if they had any competitors they would be out of business.
Just came back after dumping off an old busted up fire hydrant that was sitting in my neighbors yard. I had to get a letter from the city that it was OK for me to scrap it. Everyone was very polite and professional even though they had to explain everything to me. Very nice doing business with them.
They were rude. I was told "you'll have to wait". They didn't have time for me. So I know they are not the only scrapping company in Jackson. I called someone else and srapped my car. Less than a half hour and the hunk of junk was out of my yard. I will never call Omnisource again.
The retail store I work at did a large fixture and hardware discard recently and we were told to scrap any metal. When I took the metal to Omni source they immediately questioned where I got the metal from. even after I explained and offered to call my district leader they still refused to take the metal without an official letterhead from the company. So 3 days later after getting my boss to type up a letter giving us permission to scrap the metal, I sent my employee to drop off the metal.... they did not even question him or ask for an official letter from the company. Super confused as to how the employees of Omni wouldn’t take the metal without the letter because “it’s not worth losing our jobs over, we just have to follow the rules” and then 3 days later apparently these rules don’t apply anymore? Thanks for wasting our time!!!!!! Never going here again.
Don't do business with this company. I tryed to recycle some lead sheath cables and they would not accept. They sayed because I shouldn't have access to this kind of product. That's total B.S. Just another jive-a## business in Jackson.
Had a piece of frame that is all I really had to scrap a few little pieces hanging around the yard. Frame was bad on my vehicle cut it off and welded a different piece on. They told me I needed the title to my vehicle in order to scrap the 2 foot section of frame the is off of my vehicle... so I essentially had to scrap my entire vehicle out due to a small piece of frame... won't be going back, will do my business else where.
The people here are very helpful. They will tell you how you can get the most money for your scrap. They are relatively fast with their service. Love the ATM machine. Really sped up the process of getting paid.
Friendly people. I had never been there before. The only problem is the guy had me back up with my scrap metal over a bunch of nails on the ground. Not a good thing. They should watch for that sort of thing.
ive been their 2 times to scrap out metal and the very first time i had no idea what was what or even where to go ive been to other places just to scape copper but never here the guy by the pile gave me some good info and saved me some money everyone their was pretty cool i had no troubles, i have even taken a car their without any problem the people inside were real nice ****** just got back from another visit and kind of bummed but the employee's were helpful and I learned something new it cost me $$$ but oh well good things to know
