Joe and Julee did an outstanding job on my car! They handled my brakes, complete tune-up, and oil change with professionalism and care. They have great senses of humor and made me feel like family. They did not make me feel stupid or uneducated when I asked questions, instead they went the extra mile and showed me or thoroughly explained the things I was unaware of. The work was done very efficiently, and they kept me informed throughout the process. Hands down the best mechanic shop I have ever dealt with! I was two hours from home when I had car trouble. They literally saved the day and saved my vehicle from further damage. They went above and beyond, making sure I didn’t miss my son’s races. They are honest, trustworthy and caring, a true example of how to run a business! Thank you!

Nice people, great work done. Trustworthy mechanic which is hard to find sometimes. The only downfall is they are a little pricier than other shops but overall a great place to go.

My daughter and I had the best experience with this business! They went ABOVE and BEYOND what they were obligated to do. Long story short, my daughters brakes went out a mile out of town and we are located 1hr+ away. We got it there and had them scheduled for repairs. After seeing how rotted out the undercarriage was, they waived the diagnosis fee AND even helped with the disposal of the car to the local scrap yard and gave the most HONEST reviews of vehicles to shop for and avoid. After only a few days of communication, this is a shop that I would travel out of my way to go to. They are such a good people and my daughter will forever be grateful how caring small town businesses can be. This place is hidden gem. Please do not hesitate to give them a chance. I'll be back one day eventually one day, but until then, I hope this review helps them, they certainly deserve it. You guys are the best! I can't wait to need you again!

My car's check engine light was on, and once I took it to them, they provided me with a detailed overview of the seal leak that had developed, and told me exactly what they were doing and how it would fix the issue at hand. For someone that is not familiar with the inner workings of an engine like myself, they were able to tell me what's what in a way that wasn't over my head. Overall, they provided me with the fix my car needed quickly, effectively, and transparently, and I will be back there should my ride require it.

Recently took my car here for the first time, and it was such a good experience. They did a very thorough check up, showed me and explained what was going on with it and offered me lots of advice and solutions. Very honest people. Also the dogs are so sweet! Will be going here again!

CANNOT recommend this shop more! We were driving up to Petosky from Ohio Friday and my dash lit up like Christmas tree with 4 warning lights! We got off the highway and found 1st Street and with 15 minutes before closing on a holiday weekend, they took mercy on us and took a look at my car! It turned out to be a computer issue, they fixed it and we were back on our way thankfully! If I lived here, this is absolutely the place I’d bring my car! They didn’t have to be so kind as to stay 45 minutes over but they did and I am so grateful! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My mom’s car started acting up on a road trip, so we stopped here to get a diagnostic ran. Joe was super nice and caring. He explained everything upfront and said want needs to be done. 10/10 a great little place for an emergency stop.

Julee is so kind and caring…. Helped me out when I had an issue with my car on my way home from work. She also gave me a lot of helpful info to keep up with my car maintenance so I can be proactive with my maintenance. So happy they came up first on my google search ?

Poor customer service to my family and friends. Rude comments made about customers behind their backs outside of the business. Didn't want to fix issues with a vehicle part they "fixed". Simply said I'm done working on your vehicle.

I recently had an unfortunate experience at 1st Street Automotive, and I feel compelled to share my dissatisfaction with the service I received. From their poor and extremely unprofessional customer service including inappropriate conversations that were carried on and being scolded by Joe, the mechanic. To make matters much worse, after about two months of having the radiator replaced my car started leaking antifreeze, appearing to be from the radiator. Long story short, after Julee, the owner, was dismissive and condescending, the problem was “fixed” by tightening a loose hose clamp. The very next day after getting my car back, my car was STILL LEAKING. So I took it back up to the shop. I walked in the front door and before I even said a word, Joe looked at me and told me he was done working on my car. After putting up with their absurd customer service because I had to put my trust into someone for my automotive care, I was the one being refused their business. I will not be back and I caution others against choosing this establishment for their automotive needs by all means.

Joe the mechanic is an amazing guy. Not only does he know his trade, but is a great human. He went beyond and helped me with more then just the mechanics of my car. He explained to me in dumbed down speak so I understood. Also answered any questions I had. I didn't feel rushed out the door. Julie made me feel welcomed and didn't seem to push us out the door either. I love this place and these people.

People are great, service is great. Highly recommend. Came in for a couple of things, they told me about problems that I did not know were there, and offered to help fix them. Very helpful. Will definitely go there go and I will be telling my friends to go there for their automotive needs.

Absolutely wonderful people. Car broke down far from home and I was stranded. They dropped everything they were doing to help me.

One of the only places I would trust to take care of my car! Very dependable and reliable people. They make sure to let you know everything they are doing to your car and keep you constantly updated. They are very friendly and genuine people who really care about their customers. They are very educated and trained very well in their field and don't leave you in the dark. I would highly recommend them to anyone with any type of car issue.

Joe has been my mechanic for a few years. He has decades of experience in the business and will always get you the best parts you need. Julie the receptionist is very social and will talk your ear off but is very kind and pleasant to have around. I would deffinatley recommend these two, they are a great pair to handle your auto-repair needs.
