Mark has continually helped us out...does great work...and is fair.
Most recently I asked him to do whatever is necessary for my granddaughters car, rear brakes, including rotors, calipers and whatever he thought.
He replaced rotors, cleaned up the calipers (like new) and said she needs to drive more. It was a minimal bill...and I thank him for her/our safety. Very fair guy! This is a great shop!

My truck was dead in the water Thursday morning, and I had it towed to Auto Tech of East Tawas. It got there around 11am, and I was told it was going to be next in line around 2pm. At 4:30pm, I had asked for an update and it wasn't touched yet. Unfortunately, I had to book another night at a hotel; which is understandable as it could have been a larger problem. The next morning, around 10am, with no updates yet from the shop, I called up and was told that it may be a transmission issue. After walking to the shop, I was told that they tried to drive it, but it didn't move. Which is why I had it towed in the first place. They didn't scan or actually bring it in to properly diagnose the issue.
They then decided to close early on Friday due to illness, but I feel if I didn't call and get an update, my keys would've been held in the shop over the weekend.
We may have caught them on a bad week, but the communication was the main issue. They repeatedly assured me that they could get my truck in same day. Instead of staying another night, I could have figured something else out instead of being strung along until the weekend, when they'd be closed.

I stopped in at Autotech of East Tawas for something lodged between the tire and the rim of my wheel. I unfortunately didn’t catch his name but i believe he was the owner, but he immediately went to my vehicle to inspect what i was talking about. After trying to remove it there in the lot, no questions asked he took my vehicle into the shop to better assess the situation. Within 10 minutes of arriving, he removed my tire and removed the object quickly. Because of the simple “repair” he said i was good to go and I didnt owe anything because it was not more than a $10 service. I paid him anyways because of his quick action to help me out. He was very personable and helpful which i greatly appreciate. I would definitely recommend them to anyone living in town or just visiting. Thank you Autotech of East Tawas! You turned around a stressful, sudden issue, into an easy and stress free fix.
Got me in and out fast and did a good job. Did me a favor and installed an O2 sensor I had already bought that was needing to be replaced that was part of what had to come out.
I am from out of town staying for the week. My check engine light came on so I researched places with good reviews. They did not disappoint. Fast, friendly and fair pricing with no pressure service. I wish I had this place in my hometown
I dropped my vehicle off for a complete brake job. I received a call and I was told by Marc that everything was fine and that he found nothing that needed to be replaced at this time. I picked up my car later that morning and was charged nothing for their work. What I received was an honest opinion from a qualified mechanic and was not charged for
their inspection. In this day and age I feel that some shops might of gone ahead and made the repairs and charged me for something that did not need to be done. The honesty and service that I received from Auto Tech of East Tawas is commendable. Honesty and good service is going to serve this business well. Thank you.
I sold a Cadillac Allante part to some guys that drove all the way from Denver, Colorado. They broke down in their old Allante 2 miles from Tawas. They called 10 different repair facilities and Mark from auto tech took them in immediately and got them back on the road. The guys then drove straight thru all the way to Denver!
They were very pleased with Mark, and with the ridiculously low price that they were charged. I highly recommend Mark and auto tech as a very caring and professional repair facility in Tawas city. Thank you, Mark. I owe you a drink lol

My husband and I came in from out of town to find out our car was not running great. Called East Tawas Auto Techs and dropped my car off around 1pm, not only are they outstanding technicians, they are kind human beings and funny as well. They took great care of me and my car. If they weren’t 2.5 hours from my home I would bring my car here for EVERYTHING! Thank you so much for your kindness and ability to hustle and get the job flawlessly done before you closed for the weekend, we all knew it was going to be tight. Your shop was worth every single penny and then some. Enjoy the weekend

They may not look like much from the outside.. But inside they have good people who know what they’re doing. They got the job done quickly at an affordable price and made sure everything was done correctly.
Brought my car in for an estimate on February 13th for whatever was wrong. This was the estimate. Took to back about a week later for still having a whooping coming from the front. They had said it needed an alignment which it did and they couldn’t get my valve caps undone without breaking them. I gave them the go ahead. Got the car back then about another 3 days later and my car is leaking oil now pretty bad in the driveway. Took it back to Auto Tech they said I had a bad oil drain plug. Replaced alls good right?? Wrong. Oil is still dripping from the oil pan. So I take it to my mechanic in AuGres. They told me the valve cover gasket was put on wrong. I just wish there was mechanics that’d actually take pride in their work. Marc is a very good guy and I’m upset that I have to leave this review. But everyone said I’d never have a problem after taking my car to them, but it’s been nothing but problems since I got it back from them.
Id stay away from this place. Made an 8 am appointment and was there are 755.
They pulled a van in before my truck and there wasn't anyone there waiting for the van. I however sat for an hour and 45 min until they got mine in. While in the lobby the owner said o we'll he can wait. When I pointed out they had done a poor job balancing my tires is few days before that the owner says it is what it is.... once I finally did get my truck back at around 11 there were no wheel weight on my truck tires and now there is a shake at highway speeds. It's pathetic how this guy treats his customers and how he talks about them in the lobby. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. I added a photo of one of the.tires they balanced. And now that same tire has no weights after they balanced them a second time.
I brought my truck up their with new controller arms and balljoints they proceeded to tell me my ball joint was bad and when I brought it home I looked and saw that they loosened my ball joint wich could've went very bad I would never go back their and wouldn't recommend to anyone.
I had a very pleasant experience today that I want to share with everyone. I thought I might be having a brake issue on my truck so I stopped at Auto Tech if East Tawas to have them checked out. They did a thorough inspection and told me my brakes were fine and sent me on my way with no charge. It’s nice to find an honest and reputable auto shop when you’re on the road.
I am from out of town on vacation and brought my truck here because it was leaking coolant on a Friday morning. They had it up on a lift within minutes and had it repaired within 45 minutes. Thank you and highly recommend to anyone needing services. Fast and friendly.
My trucks water pump gave out on a weekend camping trip coming into town and Marc was kind enough to escort us the rest of the way to camp and fixed my truck on Monday. He is a stand up guy, fast and reliable. Thank you Marc!
Tawas is lucky to have this shop in town. Most businesses in the area are not reliable. Autotech has taken care of my family's vehicles at a great price. Marc is the man!

Great place for repairs. We have used them multiple times and they are very upfront and open about the issues they find. Our vehicles are always returned to us quickly and they are very accommodating. Great people!
Been a Tech for 43 years and traveling from out of town. Had a issue where I needed to pull my LR brakes off but had no tools. Showed up when they opened and spoke with Marc. Explained what was happening and he got me right in and back on the road in less than a hour. From one Tech to another.. Kudos Autotech and your staff.
was up this last Friday the Oct. 13th for the weekend and had truck problems. It was 1pm on a Friday and Auto Tech gang got me in and took care of my problems as my gas tank strap broke and rear brakes went. What Great people and service to get me in and get me on with my weekend trip. Also they have a RN working the front desk, "Retired Nurse". She was Great and had good stories. Thank You guys so much. Need help they can do it . Highly recommend.

I Was going on a road trip South and I needed to get some sensor lights figured out if it was sensor faulting or if needed repair work . My stable track light was on as well as a message to service my stable track was showing up and my ABS sensor light was on as well and was told by another place the ABS sensor needed replaced . I wanted to get my wheel bearing on my driver side replaced as I had gotten passenger side done over a year ago but the truck was sitting for some time before I was able to get a new engine put in it . However Marc found that my passenger side needed replaced as well and he also found that my Cvc axels needed replaced and the boots as they where leaking and the boots where torn . I was very happy with how quick he was able to find what all was wrong and needed to be fixed and replaced. He called me before fixing to make sure I knew what needed to be done and make sure I was able to proceed in replacing both front wheel bearings, both Cvc axels and boots and in doing this my stable track sensor light went off and so did the message about servicing the stable track as well as my ABS sensor also went off after the issues where repaired .Marc gave me the best pricing in town. Infact I was shocked at how good of a deal he gave me compared to other prices I was quoted from others . I am very grateful for all of Marc and his staffs help and I will for sure be bck in the future. Ty so much .?⭐✨
Came up from bay city to see family and work on the car and couldn't quite do it myself. Called and they. got me right in!, fast and friendly, very happy that they could get me right in on such short notice. Would definitely reccomend and will most definitely be back.
In an urgent situation, Marc immediately serviced my car and charged next-to-nothing. You will not get the same great service as I did, because the fantastic service I received can not be equaled (however, I am certain that their care and work will certainly rival what I received)!! Absolutely tremendous!!!
We were just passing through along Lake Huron, and we could NOT have asked for a better place to have car problems! They diagnosed the problems & ordered the parts immediately; and since the work couldn't be completed until the next day, Danielle helped us find a place to get food & a place to stay and Marc took us first to the restaurant (Tawas Bay Pizza Company -- YUM!) and then to our Inn. Work was done the next morning and we were on our way -- but we WILL be back to this lovely community!
While on vacation my husband’s battery died and needed to be replaced. When I called to see if they could replace his battery I was told they could and given a price. The person I spoke with on the phone was so nice and answered all my questions. When we arrived my husband was told there was no reason to leave the car it would be fixed while he waited. No more than 20 minutes passed and my husband called to let me know he was all set. I was so incredibly impressed with the service we received! Hopefully I won’t need any more car repairs while on vacation but if I do I will absolutely call Autotech of Tawas again!

Phenomenal service. We broke down traveling to Thunder Bay Ontario, not only did they fix us on the cheap, they let us camp in our RV on their lot, for free!

I always value a genuine and honest person. Especially when it comes to customer service and conducting business. Mark has got to be one of the most honest and upfront mechanics in town. Which I appreciate a lot. Someone who just gives you the direct answer what's wrong with your car, what needs to be done to fix it, and gives you the price to do the repair. Very honest and great customer service. I would strongly recommend anyone in need of any repair to go here. Reasonable prices and just can't rave enough on how good of a shop they are.
