Then you have the salvaged wood section which is amazing! Everything is organized and labeled allowing you to wander around to find exactly what you want or need.

Oh my Goodness!! What a great experience I could spend days in this store looking at items and reading all the different decor! Almost everything Michigan made! Everyone is so warm welcoming and kind and they have stuff for just about everyone literally ranging baby toddler to hunters and soccer moms. I will definitely be back now that I have found this gem and can’t wait to share it with many more people. Also stuff is priced greatly along with great quality and items made with love so you can’t beat it!

I stopped here to get a gift for my mother-in-law's birthday. They had a very unique selection of products, which is a good thing. If I wasn't on my lunch break I would have done a more thorough look through the store. I did see upstairs there was a whole section dedicated to Harry Potter. I will be back soon!
Bought 3 pieces of 8/4 maple from them and few weeks ago. Price was reasonable for Kiln dried maple, about $8.00 / bf. Normally if I'm buying hardwoods, I bring my moisture meter with me. This time I forgot it at home. When I spoke to them they told me it was kiln dried. I asked to what percentage, and they told me under 10, and then it would acclimate to their store. I brought it home and left it sit in my shop for about 10 days. I started milling it up and got some binding. I decided to check the moisture content and found that it was at 12% to 14 %. All of the rest of the kiln dried wood I have had in my shop tests out at 6 to 8 %, so this tells me that it didnt pickup excess moisture in my shop. I am confident in my readings as I am using a high end moisture meter (wagner 950), and it has proven reliable when tested against other meters. I tested the calibration of the meter and retested the wood with the same results. I can't say that they purposely deceived me about the wood being kiln dried, but this does make me question their processes. I don't think I will be going back there again.
****Edit**** After Trevor reached out in the response below, I called him. He was very apologetic and responsive to my issue. He has agreed to make things right. That is all I can ask for. Companies often have things happen that are out of their control, how they respond when an issue comes up is very important. Trevor chose to do the right thing. This completely changes my outlook on Michigan Barnwood and Salvage.
When I returned to the store and spoke to Trevor, he was extremely helpful and completely made things right. I walked out of the store knowing I am dealing with someone who truly believes when something goes wrong, it needs to be resolved.
Went there this weekend hoping to find some wood to trim out a kitchen I'm working on. I found the perfect wood color and dimensions in a stack of wood. I went and asked the owner how to go about getting it out he basically had no interest in helping me with the task and told me he might be able to get to it in a couple of weeks. So much for customer service. If I treated my customers this way I would be out of business!!
An absolute must when visiting the Mason area! You will not be disappointed in wood selections and prices. Loved the cedar pieces! Huge shout out to Grant who was clearly enjoying his customer service position. Well done also to his mom for raising such a charming and polite young man.
Great place for woodworking for projects. Very reasonable prices (the walnut pieces were much cheaper and nicer then I could find elsewhere) and great selection. Live edge, barn wood, various sizes. Worth the drive if you aren't local.
Love this store! Perfect place for gift ideas, home decor, and self care! There are always new products check out and the staff is friendly and laid back.
Went to the plant/succulent event today and got these goodies! Awesome place for home decor and what not. Highly recommend checking out at least once. Bonus also that it is all Michigan made. Great spot to pick up gifts for people as well!
Stumbled on this place by accident while in Mason. Was originally looking for antique stereo equipment, but a soon as I say they had raw lumber I had to check it out.
As I walked in I was greeted by an incredibly nice setup of some of the other Michigan craft goods they offered, from candles, wood projects, to clothing, and soaps. This place had a perfect mix of gifts that anyone would want. The staff was super helpful with all of the questions I had and was also able to meet some of the vendors who actually make the items for sale... It was a pretty incredible place and I can't wait to go back
This is my tale of two staff members at this place with very different experiences.
One was a middle aged gentleman who offered no assistance and seemed generally annoyed by questions about their stock.
The other was a younger man who eagerly told what us they had and where to find it.
When I found powder post beetles in the 4x4s I purchased, I better understood, perhaps, the elders lack of enthusiasm about his product. I just figure that’s a risk you take when buying reclaimed. My gripe is with his customer service or lack there of. I guess you’re taking a chance with this place all around.
A true gem for Ingham County! Michigan Barn Wood & Salvage is a must stop on your shopping excursions! They offer unique hand-made gifts from local artisans and a treasure trove of materials for woodworkers. Kendra and her crew are incredibly friendly and make you feel welcome as you peruse their always changing selection of incredibly well-made items. They are also supportive of the local community, which means a lot to me personally. This is my favorite place to shop in Mason and my go to when I need a special gift!!
This is an awesome shop! They have everything Michigan (the State of) that you can think of, including Copper Art, and Petoskey decor! I could have wandered around for hours! Beautiful wood slabs, tables, decor, and so much more! I loved everything, so it was hard to decide what to purchase! We can't wait to go back after Christmas!
Wow very cool place to pick up treasures. A lot of wood and gift things including some metal things. These are up front and barnwood and slabs in the back. Definitely a great place to wander.
Fantastic place! Gorgeous selection of live edge slabs and other wood for any project. They have some amazing finished furniture- made on site! I especially liked the end table/small tables and entryway narrow tables. They've nailed the refined rustic look perfectly. The shop front is an adorable Michigan made boutique showcasing their furniture and supporting Michigan made products. Many fun "mitten made" things to choose from- like candles, Michigan pillows, home decor, bags, coffee cups, ceramics and so much more. My new go to place for gifts!! The owners are a sweet couple that value their customers and community. Happy to support a local gem!!
