I can’t even describe how much I appreciated Jon! I was 8 and a 1/2 hours away from home and was out rock hunting when my car started shaking and engine light was flashing. It was around 730pm with his business closed for day , but I choose to bring my car, was going to leave a message and walk to a hotel. He happened to still be there and came out to talk to me. He not only gave me a ride to the hotel but he fit my car in the next day. I knew he had a lot on his plate, but he made it work. Absolutely a wonderful person and recommend his business all day long! Thank you so much!
While camping at fannyhooe I noticed my front right tire low on my motorhome, so I added air so I could check next morning and yup low again so I knew I had a issue.
I looked up superior and we were heading to Houghton that morning so decided to stop at superior to see if I brought my motorhome by the next morning when we depart fannyhooe if we could fix the issue.
I stopped the next day, they pulled the wheel to find a bad o ring on my metal valve stem. Replaced the o ring , rebalanced , reinstall and back on the road in 40 minutes! OUTSTANDING..
Really great guy, somebody you could have a beer with friendly, dont hesitate to stop best service around.

We pulled into Superior Auto at 3:00 PM with a leaky tire, and John went out of his way to quickly find the 8 penny nail in our tire, plug the hole, and get us on our way. John and his wife treated us like friends, and I highly recommend their shop!
Had a boat trailer tire that had gone flat....I needed a fast turnaround...with no appointment. Without hesitation they took care of me within 30 minutes. Can't say enough nice things.
Great shop and service. We broke down on a family vacation and the owners really stepped up to make sure they did absolutely everything they could to get us back on the road as quickly as possible. From tracking down parts after hours to staying late to get the job done. They treated us like family even though we were total strangers. Can't thank you enough you saved the day and the trip for us!
John is a great mechanic and even greater person.
My wife and I were up on vacation from the Flint area. A horrible rattling noise started emanating from our car engine. We nursed it to John late in the day on a Thursday. He was extremely patient and knowledgeable discussing the issue and he was confident that he "could get us home".
Even though he really should have had no time for us (he was "2 weeks behind"). He diagnosed the suspected problem, ordered the parts, and told us he'd work on it on Friday until it was done. His wonderful wife Jess drove us and our luggage to the motel we had to rent in town.
He repaired and delivered the car to us Friday evening (working late when he should have been at his daughter's birthday). He charged what we thought was a totally fair price for replacing the timing chain. The car runs great, and we, of course, got home.

John (the owner) and his son Ryan were amazing. I had a flat tire on the way to a Houghton appointment luckily I rolled into a Circle-K with "Free Air" and put air in which blew out immediately! So I wrestled with the jack and put on the "Temporary Spare" and...
EVEN LUCKIER, John's "Superior Auto Tech" shop was about two doors down. He was obviously busy but took the time to talk to me about options.
Ultimately he found a puncture, fixed it immediately then jacked up the car and put the tire back on. Ryan helped me put my jack, tools and spare back in the storage space (REALLY NICE POLITE YOUNG MAN). For all of that John only charged me $20...So I gave him a hefty tip and thanked them both profusely for their kindness and for dropping everything to take such good care of me. Great place, great people! Too bad I can't give them a 10 star rating!!
Are you from out of town and broken down? So was I. I called five different stores on Friday morning when I woke up. Nobody had any space to see me obviously. "I'm booked out two weeks" and "better call somebody else" over and over. What am I going to do? I can't wait till monday... When I finally got a hold of John, he didn't have any time either. But he made time anyway. For me and my family. John is the type of man that makes time for people in need. " I don't know how I'm going to do it just yet but I'll get you home" John says.
Johns a professional. He diagnosed my left front wheel bearing right away. Somehow the part was in stock also. John told me to come at 2:00 when the part arrived and he'd get it in right away. That's exactly what he did. He charged me more than a fair price and refused any notion of a tip. John saved the day. I know I will never be able to properly return the favor so paying it forward is my only option. By the way, Jon, we made it home. Thank you, Superior Auto Tech! There are good people left in this world. John at Superior is one of them.
Excellent service! I was in Calumet and my brakes suddenly began making noises. Jon was kind enough to look at and diagnose the problem. He was even kinder to replace the brakes, rotars, and a caliper. I am so thankful. They saved the day for me and I was able to return home the same day. They were honest and friendly. Excellent service and high quality work. Five stars does not seem like it is even high enough as a rating for a business such as this that goes above and beyond to ensure that others are able to have safe travels.
Just had my vehicle in for brake job, i was called and informed to stop by. They inspected and found a serious ball joint issue. And a small oil leak i was unaware of. He stayed there all friday night repairing my ride. Ty John for the honesty and the immediate action we made it 1000 miles already and we are still rolling.
Amazing experience. After getting up to this area from our last destination, we happened to see our check engine light come on out of nowhere. They were able to check everything out for us and checking our battery, reassuring us that the extension of our trip would be just fine until we get back. Thank you guys again. We stopped by to see about getting our alternator and battery changed, and instead found they wouldn’t have time to do it for us. We were given incredible advice and help with the car and a jump to get us on our way! I would 100% recommend them, and only wish we had the time for them to help us out today with our battery/alternator issue
This place is wonderful. I'm from way out of state, but drive up to Calumet to see family, and this time my Volkswagen's power steering died. I was leaving town in two days so they managed to squeeze me in for a diagnostic despite being real busy, walked me through my options, likely causes, etc. Friendliest auto shop I've been to, it wasn't something I expected them to be able to fix and they were upfront about that from the outset. Thank you all again!
Our alternator went out while we were in the area on vacation. What could have ruined our day or week was literally a 55min blip of time in our day as they got a new one installed and the system reset. The owner of the coffee shop down the street that we were waiting at said that Superior Auto Tech was the best place in town. Thx!!

THIS PLACE! I won’t go anywhere else in the Keweenaw. You know this place is the best when they are always busy. They are fantastic in customer service and amazing in price. I won’t go anywhere else even if I move away. Highly recommend!!!
Great to work with and very reasonably priced! Even though they were booked, they slid my car in to get looked at and finished the job a few days later. I’m not from the area, so I was hesitant to bring my car in, but Superior Auto Tech had great customer service and does excellent work. Five stars well deserved!
Had a slow leak in our tire while camping in Copper Harbor (10 hours from home). Found this family owned shop on our way to Houghton and stopped in. Had us in and out in less than on hour. Incredibly friendly and very reasonable price. Highly recommend!
Camping in Copper Harbor we had a trailer tire loosing air fast. The local gas station recommended we go here. They immediately helped us out , fixed the tire. And we were back on our way in 10 minutes. They saved the day!!
We had a fantastic experience! While vacationing at Copper Harbor, we broke a steering knuckle, and, because of parts problems, it looked like I would have to stay behind while the rest went home. The personnel at Superior Auto Tech went above and beyond to ensure that the part would arrive on time and our vehicle fixed so that we could maintain our schedule.
