The stairs down to the beach create such a unique little hike down to the water! There was no one there when I was and it was so pretty with the fall colors :))

Pretty nice beach. It is eroded back in a lot of areas that creates about between 6" and 18" drop off down to the water, leashes are required for your pet, and a lot of the beach area (~80%) was shaded at 11am when I went. However, the beach was clean and the people present were polite and respectful. The park on top of the hill is very small, and I'm not sure if there is a handicap accessible ramp, but you will need to navigate about 2 flights of steps down to the beach and there is no area that I found that has a foot wash station. Overall, it was what I expected from reviews. It definitely doesn't have the feel of a private beach, but it you don't mind walking a mile or so you might get some semblance of privacy.

Dog friendly, but it’s a small beach and there’s lots of stairs to get down to the beach. I didn’t see any chair or umbrella rentals, no concessions. Didn’t see a foot wash station either.

We had a great experience at this beach! We arrived around 11 AM and were pleasantly surprised to find it wasn’t crowded at all. There was plenty of space to spread out and relax, which made for a peaceful day. One thing to note: the only restroom facilities are porta potties located in the parking lot. Also, be prepared for a bit of a workout — there are quite a few stairs to get down to the beach, so plan accordingly, especially if you’re carrying gear or traveling with little ones. Overall, it was a beautiful spot and a relaxing visit. We’d definitely come back!

Free parking, a very nice multi level playground including swings and partial shade. Some porta potties (5). The beach is quiet with clean fine sand after the short stairs down (92 steps) including a few pausing points (7 landings) for those who need the break. While this beach is not overly large it does feel secluded to an extent and that is refreshing for the locals not wanting to be bothered by a heavy amount of tourists.

Our new favorite. Beach was clean, easy to get to with all our junk, only a handful of people were there. It beats the heck out of going to silver lake. Big bonus is DiMaggio's was right down the street, we love getting a cheese pizza on the way home from a lake day. (DiMaggio's is cash only if you are interested)

Super great dog beach! Lots of shade in the early morning/afternoon, very clean and GORGEOUS water over at this beach! Lots of stairs to go up and down.

THE POSITIVE :Dog friendly :plenty of parking :grills on site : green area for picnic :playground right by the green area :people that are going to the beach only seem to stay a couple of hours. : beach area is clean :Portables do have toilet paper THE bad -Portapottys are very VERY stinky! -Green area is not too big so if you want to have a picnic come in before 10 am to get a spot. -Even if you come in early…. Some people will literally set their picnic RIGHT NEXT TO YOU. Not sure why ?

I’ve been going here for years and, being a local, it is my favorite beach to take the family. Having the playground as a nice “dry-off” activity before heading home works out nicely also. And if you get there early enough, it is rarely busy, even over 4th of July weekend!

The parking area was pretty spacious. But the toilets were too disgusting to use and the trash that had been left on the ground around the trash cans had not been picked up the last time they emptied the trash cans. The stairs going down to the beach were real solid and in good shape.

Great place to enjoy the true beauty of Lake Michigan! Cute playground for the true kids at heart. Location was perfect and would highly recommend to anyone who would love to take a quick stop to pause the business of life and to enjoy nature.

Lovely stop especially heading north along the lake. Beautiful scenery and majestic views of the lake. Definitely worth a stop for the beautiful views of Lake Michigan.

Lovely beach. I went to the beach one day and ice from the lake was collecting on shore. A very pretty sight. And speaking of sights, there was a beaver swimming in the pools made by the ice and wandering. There was a storm the next day. I went back to the beach the following day and the ice was gone. I'm glad I got to see it when I did!

What a beautiful stretch of beach! While there’s quite a walk down via steps to the beach from the parking lot/playground/picnic table area, it’s lovely and well maintained. And there is a bench along the way down/up if you have anyone who is able to do steps but needs a break to complete.

Beautiful dog friendly beach. It is not “off” leash, the day we were there it was not busy, we walked down the beach a way and I let them run and swim. There are quite a few stairs to get down to the beach, you are able to stop though and take a rest as you make your way up or down.

Gorgeous clean beach with plenty of space and dog friendly! Lots of stairs to get down but safe, secure rails if needed. The lake was so warm and refreshing. Great place to check out.

Lovely little beach, accessible via wooden steps, with a few benches along the way. Not a large beach as there are private properties on either side. Quite popular as the parking lot fills and folks end up parking on the road (supposedly against the rules but lots do it). Leashed dogs are welcome. There is a playground "up top), along with porta potties. Seems folks clean up theur trash as we saw no litter at the end of a busy weekend day - always a plus!

This is a lovely park with a playground, benches, tables and grills. Port-A-Pots. The walk down to the lake has a significant amount of stairs. There are very few rocks and what is there is small and smooth. Kids will have a great time. However, there is a long flight of stairs with 56 steps to get back up.

A really nice beach! Really clean, friendly people and a park/playground. Loved the stairs from the park to the beach. The stairs/pathway are picturesque ? Just keep the stairs in mind when packing for the beach. There is plenty of parking in the lot, with additional roadside parking as well. I highly recommend visiting! ?️??

A beautiful park and beach located on the shores of Lake Michigan located in Lake Michigan Beach, MI! Very clean and well kept grounds and parking area! The view from the top of the cliff is amazing! White sandy beach area. Wooden stairs gives you access to the beach from the top of the cliff. A playground is located near the parking lot along with picnic tables. A must see park and beach for the nature lover or anyone if you are in the extreme southwestern portion of Michigan! A definite must see!

Great park for a break on a road trip. Parking is close to a picnic and play area and the beach. It's clean and well-kept. There are portable toilets, but no bath houses. The beach is small, but has a beautiful beach. If you swim, you'll be about 3 feet deep about 100 feet out, and it's sandy.

This park with a pet-friendly beach was an amazing find for my family! The location was breathtaking, and it was evident that the park was well taken care of. We had a blast watching our pets enjoy the water as much as we did. The beach was clean and perfect for swimming, making it an ideal spot for a fun day out with the whole family. The picnic areas were great for our lunch break, providing a relaxing space to enjoy our meal. We loved it so much that we’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommend this wonderful place for anyone looking for a family-friendly and pet-friendly destination!

One of our family's favorite lake michigan beaches. Plenty of parking. Shaded picnic table and playground area right by the parking lot. Short walk down a wooden staircase to get to the beach. The beach isn't huge but it's a good size, always clean, and everyone gives each other plenty of space. It is dog friendly, dogs must be leashed, and as always clean up after your pets :-) There are porta potty restrooms in the parking lot area.

I used to live right down the road from this beach, and I've enjoyed it for many years. I even have a spot I go to whenever I go back. There's a lot of little spots tucked away if you can find them or if you are a local resident, you might already know about them.

Hagar Park/ Beach is a nice place to visit. There are bathrooms (port a johns), and Handicapped parking spots. There's also a park for kids to play, and the beach is just a short walk(down some wooden stairs), the beach is not handicap accessible. The beach is nice by the way. The beach area was pretty clean, and not to busy during my visit about 2 p.m. on a Friday. You can bring your dogs, but be sure they are leashed.

This is one of our favorite beaches on Lake Michigan. There aren't any bathrooms/changing rooms, just outhouses in the parking lot by the playground. However, this stretch of beach is lovely, and rarely crowded.

Very nice, dog-friendly beach. Dogs must be kept on a leash, but my pup still had a great time. We even found a shady spot where he could lay while I got some sun. Easy parking when we got there around noon, but it was full when we left around 3:30pm. Lots of stairs to the sand, so keep that in mind if you're bringing a lot of stuff with you.

Beautiful park and beach! A great playground that even bigger kids can enjoy. It has Port a potties, a nice area with picnic tables, and grills. Then walk down the steps to the beach. Small parking area also. Worth checking out.

Absolutely nice Beach. Not Rocky at all all sand. There's even a sandbar about a hundred yards out. Becomes knee deep. Nicely separated picnic tables and grills. Perfect playground for the kids to play. Bathrooms are Porta-Johns that are "NOT" maintain well. Decent parking. Motorcycle friendly. Perfect spot to spend the day!!! Especially for the price!!! $o.oo just your gas!!!
