Universal Auto Repair provided great service in an emergency. I needed an urgent repair this morning due to two blown tires and a bent rim. Very fortunately it happened near Universal Auto Repair and Tom immediately came to the rescue. By late afternoon my car was ready with two new tires, a new rim and was realigned. I could not have asked for better service.

I took my Dodge Charger to Universal for a service to prepare for a sticker. I had a check engine light on for a code that was related to the oil pump. The last time I got that code I took it to the dealer. $1,700 later I had a new oil pump. I dropped the car off at 8 am and by 10:30 I got a call explaining that my oil was just low and I had a couple of issues with my rear brakes. Honesty is everything in this business!! They have it here.

Tom at Universal Auto Repair is great. He did brakes/rotors all around on my truck and was efficient, honest, and fair throughout the entire process. Everyone has a great attitude and I can tell they care about each and every vehicle that comes in. I will definitely be coming back and using them again. Highly recommend!

I had tires from Tire Rack delivered here to have them installed. They found a bad tire sensor and didn't charge for labor to fix it. They communicate clearly on what's wrong and how much it'll cost. The pricing is very fair and you'll see it on the invoice how everything is broken down between labor and parts. I will be returning here in the future. Side note: Don't park next door in the bigger parking lot. That's not theirs.

Indisputably the best experience with a shop I've ever had. They're financially conscious, honesty, and willing to work with you. I do my own car work when I can, but my driveshaft gave out before I was able to finish rebuilding the replacement. They were willing to complete the work I started, using my parts (which style shops outright refuse), and nailed the job in less than a 24hr turn around. They showed me the failure point unprompted, which I can't stand when mechanics refuse to do even when you request it. Very happy to have found them!

Tom the owner and Andrey the salesman are excellent to work with. We are so pleased with the Honda CR-V we bought last month. Tom and his staff made purchasing our car stress free.

They told us we needed to replace our rear brake pads. After changing those they told us we needed to replace our front break pads. Instead of getting these replaced as well, we went to a Subaru dealership and they told us our front break pads had more than half their life left and there was no need to replace them. If you need a trustworthy mechanic, this is not the place.

Andrey was my main contact, and he was very accommodating with my request for a pre-purchase inspection. He also provided service records of all of the work his team put into the car as well as a Carfax report on the vehicle's history. An independent mechanic confirmed the level of craftsmanship and care the mechanics put in to the car prior to listing. The price was more than fair, the description of the car's condition accurate, and the process efficient. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another car from Universal Auto in the future.

Amazing! It is so rare to experience excellence. One year ago I purchased a used Lexus SUV here. It has been impeccable. I showed up hours after the add was posted to put a down payment. Good thing I did, because they had other offers for thousands more than they were asking. Some dealers would have accepted those higher offers, but because I was first, they did the right thing and told those people that the car had been sold. After that I pointed out that the car had several small issues (TPM, A/C), and they fixed those issues per their policy. Amazing. I searched the entire country for a specific model of vehicle, it had to have specific features, had to be rust free, and in good condition. I did not expect to find it in my back yard, lol. It appears that these guys (Andrey I'm nodding to you) have great taste and knack to be able to find these great vehicles. They did an amazing job detailing the car, and they performed the important maintenance items (timing chain and water pump) before listing it for sale. I would not hesitate to take a car here for service as the guys in the shop were very good, and pleasant to deal with. I would also not hesitate to buy another used car here. The transaction process was very easy, and they were able to get the paperwork done very fast so I had plates. I needed to take the car on a road trip, and they were able to get everything done quickly so that I could have the car. After a year of owning the car I have had no issues, and continue to be impressed with the value of the vehicle I purchased. Thank you guys and keep it up.

Everyone needs a mechanic they can trust. I've been using Universal Auto for years. They take great care of my 2007 Honda, and never try to sell me any service I don't need. You will not be disappointed. It's good to know good people!

Do not hesitate to buy a car from these people. I came here because of reviews. I always buy used cars and I will definitely buy again from here. They are the easiest, most pleasant people to deal with. Cars are in great condition. After we bought our car we got it inspected. Although it passed inspection , our mechanic heard a noise on test driving it and suspected it was wheel bearings. I contacted them and without any issues Andrey and Kevin took care of it . Very trustworthy and respectable people . Please dont hesitate to buy or have service from them .

I recently purchased a used Lexus ES 350 from Universal Auto Repair and Sales. Although a bit of a drive for me, I was interested in looking at this car given the condition and price. Upon test driving, I could see the car was well maintained and overall in excellent condition. Andrey was great to work with and I'm very happy with my new car and strongly recommend this dealership.

This is my favorite shop ever, and I'm 60 years old and have lived in a lot of places with many shops, so that means a lot! The excellent service is almost beside the point -- those of us who have been taking our cars to Universal know that the service is excellent, only repairs that are needed will be recommended and performed, and all at excellent prices. And you will surely find that at other places, too. What makes Universal special are the personalities of the owner Nick and the other people who work there. If you are a walker, downtown Ashland is a nice place to meander around. And best of all? TEDDY THE DOG is coming back at Christmas! So if, like me, you are someone who waits around for your car to be fixed, you may, like me, find that you actually enjoy that time. And your car will be better for it, too!

They we’re sure to give me all the information on what my car needed and at a very reasonable price. My wife and I purchased a used 2008 Audi Q7 from Universal Auto in April 2018. We live in South Dakota so had to buy the car without inspecting it first, which I was very apprehensive about. The specific car we wanted (Q7 4.2 liter V8 with adaptive air suspension and low miles, Audi only made them in 2007-2009) is very difficult to find so we had to compromise and make the purchase without seeing or test driving the car. So after some back and forth with Andrey at Universal, who was very responsive and helpful throughout the process, we pulled the trigger and made the purchase. We had the car shipped to Denver (6 hours from home) where we picked it up. The first thing I noticed was a blinking yellow light on the dash panel, indicating a suspension malfunction (adaptive suspension allows you to select different driving modes and different ride heights to optimize performance in varying conditions - all of these options were not select-able and the suspension was not working). Upon arriving home and having the suspension looked at by a trusted local mechanic, it was determined that the air compressor and relay for the suspension were shot and needed to be fully replaced. The bill for this was $1700!!! Needless to say, we weren't very happy to have such a serious issue with our new car. I contacted Andrey and let him know the situation. He was adamant that the vehicle and suspension worked prior to shipping, which I believe he was being honest about. I think this was just one of those rare situations that maybe the compressor was on its last leg and happened to fail in transit. Universal ended up sending us a check to cover the repairs. This is a legitimate dealership that values their reputation and goes out of their way to take care of their customers. I would highly recommend them them to anyone. No dealership can guarantee that a 10 year old car won't have issues, even very soon after purchase. Things happen. But what makes a great dealership and one I want to do business with is the willingness to do the right thing and take care of their customers. That's Universal Auto. If you're considering them for your car purchase, I would definitely recommend them.

I needed my alternator replaced, and another shop wanted to charge me well over what the job was worth. However, Universal Auto Repair quoted me a fair price. They completed the work very quickly, and the repair has held for over a month now. They were knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. I definitely recommend the shop.

A honest and trustworthy place to get any repair work done. I have known Nick the owner of this place through a common friend and he is down to earth well spoken get job done guy. I have been taking my 2005 Accord for the last 6 years for oil changes and other mechanical works and would highly recommend this place.

They're the nicest mechanics I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Their prices are fair and if they find nothing wrong with your car they let you know. For instance, a while back I thought my rear brakes were bad and making a low pitched grinding noise. Turns out dirt had just gotten caught inside. The guys at Uni Auto cleaned them up and just charged me for the oil change I had asked them to do along with the rear brake change and maybe like $30 in labor as well for jacking the car and removing the tires. All of the repairs they've done on my car over the last 4 years have all been quality work. Highly recommended for anyone new to Ashland looking for a good place for auto repair and maintenance or anyone who feels like their current mechanic is taking them for a ride.
