Sunken Meadow Beach, located within the picturesque Sunken Meadow State Park on Long Island's North Shore, is a hidden gem that offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city life. My recent visit to this idyllic spot was nothing short of a rejuvenating experience, and I'm excited to share my thoughts on this lovely beach. Upon arriving at the park, I was immediately struck by its natural beauty. The lush greenery and diverse wildlife provided a serene backdrop for my beach day, and the well-maintained grounds and facilities only added to the overall appeal. The park, also known as Governor Alfred E. Smith State Park, spans approximately 1,287 acres and features various recreational activities, including hiking trails, sports fields, and a golf course, which cater to a wide range of interests. As I made my way to Sunken Meadow Beach, I was pleased to find that it was far less crowded than many other popular beaches in the area. Nestled along the Long Island Sound, this beach offers a more tranquil atmosphere, perfect for those seeking some quiet time in nature. The calm waters and gentle waves created the ideal conditions for swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking, while the soft, sandy beach provided ample space for sunbathing and relaxation. During my visit, I particularly enjoyed walking along the picturesque boardwalk, which offered stunning views of the Long Island Sound and the surrounding park. The nearby picnic areas and playgrounds made it easy for families to spend the whole day at the beach, while the well-marked hiking trails provided opportunities for more adventurous explorers to discover the park's diverse flora and fauna. The staff at Sunken Meadow State Park were friendly and helpful, ensuring that my experience was a pleasant one. The park's facilities, including restrooms and changing areas, were clean and well-maintained. I also appreciated the ample parking and easy accessibility of the park, which made my visit hassle-free. In summary, Sunken Meadow Beach is a wonderful destination for those seeking a quiet, serene beach experience surrounded by nature. My time at this enchanting spot left me feeling refreshed and eager to return. I wholeheartedly recommend Sunken Meadow Beach to anyone in search of a peaceful escape from the daily grind.

Parking by permit only. Heavily patrolled and I think a $55 fine. Very nice narrow beach in early afternoon.

One of the nicest of the Eastham bay beaches. It merges into the wide salt marsh and the audobon society land so feels extra empty

It's a terrible beach, you should definitely not come to play on the flats. *There's no parking.

Very unique beach with an amazingly long tide. We were lucky to stay in an AirBnB directly over the water, which provided the best sunsets I’ve probably seen.
