What clients say about Cheshire Harbor Trailhead in Adamsdale (MA)

Trailhead has a small unpaved lot for 12 to 20 vehicles. The Cheshire Harbor trail is a 3 mile moderate hike up to the summit of Mt. Greylock. I found the Trail to be free of any litter, so good job users of this Trail for keeping it so pristine!

Wonderful 4 Mountain hiking along the Appalachian trail with great close camping. ?

A wonderful hike for exercise. An incline all the way to the top which is a A solid 2 hours. Nothing really to see until you reach the top. Pack some waters and snacks. There is a quaint restaurant at the top with some delicious small meals.

Bumpy road to arrive to the parking lot that is fairly large. No Porta potty. 1st mile is a gravel trail, good for muscle warm-up. Great trail.

Road turns to gravel and dirt so drive slow to care for your tires. Plenty of parking, free. No restrooms or portapottys at this location. So plan ahead. If you reach the top, the summit, you'll find portapottys. Very buggy, went in beginning of July. The walk was an immediate incline, you could feel it right away. Very shaded, very woodsy. Nice hike. I would say moderate because it's a constant incline.

This is my favorite hike when I visit The Berkshires. It's rated as moderate in difficulty. I find it more difficult than moderate. It's a steady climb up to the summit of Greylock Mountain. If you're visiting The Berkshires, and you enjoy hiking, you must try it!

About 3.5 miles one way, this is apparently one of the more gradual routes to the summit of Greylock. It is definitely doable, even by a (determined) 5yo.

Trail started off wide and you could feel the incline while walking. VERY MUDDY in a lot of areas, def wear hiking boots. Many people wear sneakers and their shoes were covered with mud! It was very nice to see park rangers at different points on the trail. We went when there was some kind of "Ramble" event, still not sure what that meant? When we got to summit, it was Very cold, we only spent 10mins because our hike started at 1pm, got to summit at 3:15 and started to hike down at 3:25pm got to car lot at 6pm. It took longer then 3.45hrs to complete due to the muddy terrain. Nice trail, would recommend, just check the weather before you go, if it rained the day or 2 before you go, best to drive up!! Parked end of West Mountain Road, in a grassy lot--Great!! Hiked on 10/9/23

Moderate to hard due to continuous climb and length and difficult terrain, loose large rock, inclined 5-8ft slippery boulders. Increased mud on the return due to afternoon thunderstorm. Beautiful serene and natural woodlands, did not see wildlife, occasional birds and songbirds. peaceful.

Lovely trail particularly at the top. Some mud no snow. Unfortunately completely socked in at the summit so no view.

We just finished the trail going up and I would consider it an easy trail given that it has a 2000ft elevating gain over 3.2 miles. The grade is very gradual and the trail is nice to walk on. The picture is from the lodge at the top.

It is an out and back trail. With a total of around 7 miles. Most of the trail is ascending. The trail is moderate to difficult. When we began the hike it was pouring rain. But it turned to a drizzle at the end of the gravel road where the trail begins. Took nearly 5 1/2 hours to complete. At the top of the summit you can find washrooms. And Bascom lodge. The tower has great views.

Very beautiful trail during summer, not many people, well maintained, easy to find parking space. This hike was very difficult for me, uphill the entire way to the summit (I usually exercise 3 times a week) at the top there are very nice views and a small restaurant where you can take a break have a snack and drink before going down. Fact for the Harry Potter fans: Ilvermorny, the American school of magic is situated at the top of the mountain ?♂️

Even in snow this is a beautiful trail. I enjoyed my scenic walk through the woods on a rather easy trail that is easy to follow. For having a packed parking lot I never saw another person on the trails.

Always a good hike on a very comfortable trail. Lower two-thirds is very easy hike for most. Top third is quite challenging if you have limited climbing ability, of course you could just go up the paved road once you reach this section if necessary. If climbing during the October Ramble then keep in mind there is normally many people on the trail and the temperature from bottom to top can be significant.

Nice clear path to the summit, very easy to follow. Never too steep, no scrambling over rocks. Would consider it on the easier side.

I loved this trail. We did it during the Summer. You might come across some water on the trail. It was not an issue for us. We got at the parking lot at about 9 am and there were only 4 other cars. The views at the peak were unforgettable. It took us about two hours each way. It was very enjoyable.

Well maintained, we loved it, even my 9th and 7th years old, most of the time walking in mud or water stream, due that must wear hiking shoes.

Nice trail up to the top of Mt Greylock. However at the end of March, perhaps due to the warmer temperatures and snow melt, it felt like nearly 90% of the trail had turned into a small creek! Make sure to wear waterproof shoes, as you'll be mostly tredging through an inch or so of running water! Near the top was still snowy, and microspikes were very helpful, particularly in the descent.

Pretty tough hike for me! Almost entirely uphill and long. This was my first hike in a very long time, so basically coming off the couch...take what I say with a grain of salt. The foliage in October was beautiful, and there were many people on this trail while I was there in the early afternoon.

Moderate trail that gets you to the summit in around 1.45 hours. Some rocky stretches and some wet stretches so wear appropriate hiking boots.

It is a great hike that requires quite some effort. The view from the summit was worth every bit of the work it took to get up there!

Moderate trail to the summit of Mount Greylock. I completed a round trip hike in 2 1/2 hours. The trail gets a little steeper after it joins with the Appalachian Trail near the summit.

This is billed as the most accessible trail on the east side of Greylock for good reason. Most people would be able to hike the wide double track and experienced hiker will fly up very quickly. The trail is quite beautiful and lots of fun and there's plenty to do once one reaches the summit.

This is a lovely trail. Once you reach the top it's only 3/4 of a mile to the summit. There are plenty of beautiful spots along the trail to stop and rest for a few moments.

Excellent option for a day hike to the summit of Mt. Greylock! As of 4/13/17 the trail was initially muddy and got very icy towards the top of the mountain. The views at the summit are the perfect reward after climbing the final .75 miles of the trail on the AT.
