Hoosac Tunnel West Portal in
North Adams (MA)

The EAST portal has more public access. The WEST portal should have the same access. It is a HUGE piece of railroad history in this area and should be set up and used as such.

It's fascinating to see the structure - especially knowing that the men only used their hands, pickaxes and mediocre explosives. Walked about 200 feet into the tunnel and things felt eerily creepy. The tunnel feels as though it shouldn't be there. I'll post video on my IG: benanthio ?

Its falling apart

Historic Hoosac Tunnel. PLEASE THIS IS AN ACTIVE RAILROAD Right of Way. A railroad is not a playground or photo studio. Be aware railroad trains can take a thousand of feet to stop or more. Locomotives weigh several hundred thousand pounds. Thx Please be safe. A Railfan

Was very scary husband had me so scared we didnt even go in we turned around scared as heck and went home.

Eerie place. Fun to climb on top. Creepy inside. Good trip if you're looking to waste an hour or 2.
