I am writing to formally complain about a very poor and unacceptable experience I had at the Advance Auto Parts store in South Yarmouth, Cape Cod, on Sunday morning. I purchased a car battery at this location, and there are multiple signs at the entrance clearly stating FREE battery installation and testing.
At no point do those signs mention any requirement related to a minimum number of employees in the store in order for this service to be provided. However, one employee — who was extremely rude and unprofessional — told me that the battery could not be installed because there were “only two employees” working and that they were busy, even though there was only one other customer in the store besides me.
The employee showed no interest in helping, offered no solution, and simply refused the installation. I was basically left on my own. The only reason I was not stranded in your parking lot is because I was lucky enough to leave my car running when I entered the store. If I had turned it off, my car would not have started, since the employee refused to install the battery and I did not have tools to do it myself.
This situation was unacceptable, unsafe, and completely contradictory to what is advertised by Advance Auto Parts. I expect better training, clearer policies, and respectful treatment of customers. I am extremely dissatisfied with this experience and expect this issue to be addressed seriously.
This store is the best on cape and surrounding area by a long shot!! Alton and Neal , most of all the staff here are always the best super helpful and friendly
Such excellent customer service at this location from all the guys especially Alton. After purchasing an AC Pro and having an issue with it. Alton is the best he helped fix the issue, and helped me to get my AC back up and running. It took time and patience, but he did it with no hesitation and a smile. Thank you again Alton you’re the man.
Sean over had advanced auto parts was super helpful. My Check engine like came on and it was an issue with my coolant system. He helped me trouble shoot the problem and let me fix my Jeep in the parking lot. 10/10 would recommend using this shop if Sean is working. I can't recommend him enough.
Walked in needing a headlight, walked out with a headlight and the sudden urge to rebuild a transmission. This place is magical. The staff knows their stuff— that cute manager, Alton, diagnosed my car’s weird noise with just a raised eyebrow and a knowing nod. Pretty sure he’s part wizard.
They had every part I needed and even the ones I didn’t know I needed (but obviously bought anyway because…shiny things). Prices are solid, advice is free, and the vibes are somewhere between “car guru temple” and “friendly neighborhood garage.”
If you love your car (or just want it to stop making that noise that sounds like a dying squirrel), this is your place. 10/10 would break something on purpose just to come back.
Iv been using specifically the Yarmouth advance auto for about 5 years now and never have I had better service or help! I have to say if you’re a regular youll feel more like a friend than a customer over here. Alton especially has been extremely helpful in some of my craziest moments and has always kept me right in the loop with orders coming in or getting me something as soon as he can to keep our business rolling!
Went in to ask for help replacing a headlight. Super rude, disgruntled male working the desk. Couldn’t handle helping me replace the light, let alone even purchase the replacement from the shop. So over male run facilities that have no desire to help women who just need a hand.
After explaining to an employee the make of my vehicle over the phone was given an attitude due to the fact they didn't recognize and amercan made truck , after they hung up , I called back ad asked to speak with the store manager, who told me.if I have an issue to contact there district manager, I asked for the number and he told me I could COME INTO THE STORE AND TAKE A PHOTO OF IT ON THE FRONT DOOR refused to give me the number and hung up. GO TO ANY OTHER PARTS STORE DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE RUDE UNKNOWABLE AND COSTANTLY SUPPLY THE WRONG PARTS
My headlight went out recently so I paid a visit to AAP and was helped by Neil who found the correct headlight in less than 2 minutes and installed it for me free of charge . He was very knowledgeable and saved me about an hour of my time. I appreciate the great customer service
I recently had the pleasure of being assisted by Alton M. at Advanced Auto Parts, and I can confidently say he was phenomenal. From the moment I walked in, his attentive and positive demeanor was apparent. Alton was smiling the entire time, making my experience enjoyable.
Despite a busy counter with three walk-in customers and phone calls, Alton handled everything seamlessly. He juggled multiple tasks, including looking up information on the computer about my car battery issue, without missing a beat. His multitasking skills were impressive, and he managed it all with a smile on his face.
When it came to purchasing a new car battery, Alton's expertise shone through. He tested my old battery, clearly explaining its current power level and where it should be. He provided detailed information about the new batteries, presenting various options across different price ranges without me having to ask. His proactive approach and thorough explanations were greatly appreciated.

Update: 2 years later and I still get first class service from this store on every visit. Great staff, very helpful.
I just called over phone to find out prices for few parts for my car , first I waited like 10min on hold which is fine , I understand that is busy store but when guy finally answered after I asked him for 3 out of 5 no other than pricing questions for these parts , he told me I have to come to store in order to find out prices and he has customer walking in…. So if I call over phone to save you and myself time and get information about prices for parts that I need and prepare money makes me not a customer and just hang up on me ?
Neil was awesome, battery replacement with no fear. Professional and thorough, I highly recommend this location and appreciate the installation service Neil provided all inclusive of the battery purchase. 👍👏😊
Advanced auto parts helped me with anything I needed on my car and made sure everything they got was right. The guy NEAL is a great man to work with, patient and understands customer service.
Highly recommend Alton, from the minute I walked in I felt welcomed, Not only is he super friendly he made my experience easy. Got me the parts I needed and answered any questions I had along the way. By far the best experience I’ve had at Any auto store because of his customer service. Highly Recommended!
Would never go here again. Guy behind the counter this evening around 6pm just yelled at my girlfriend and i to hurry up and pick a light and kept repeating this to us from across the store, as if we knew what we need and didnt purposely come to the store for assistance. The worst customer service ive ever witnessed.
Do not waste your time with this store, only good if you are looking for oil or car wash. As for commercial business, they wont deliver , but have a delivery van. Maybe this location is closing? They dont answer the phones , and the new Blue haired manager is terrible, and she wont help to find parts , just says they don't have it , and doesn't try to help finding them. Do not recommend this store , unless you are looking for wipers , or may oil.
I can't say enough good things about Tony that works at this location! Friendly, extremely helpful and willing to really take time to listen to my problem to effectively get me what I needed. Hope he's recognized for his efforts! Because of him I will be returning!
I was in a serious bind. Tony got me the right parts to get my boat and trailer back to Vermont. From new bearings, a metal tray, a bunch of grease and a set of tow lights. I was able to make the 5hr trip with no problems. Great customer service!!
Not sure which architect designed the space; it's a beautiful, modernist space, with clean, tasteful design, products professionally stored and displayed, lots of air and light, huge ceiling height and unmatched service. And you know how bathrooms tell you a lot about a place? Yeah, good place.
