Wouldn't know if they're good or not because they don't answer the phone. Tried 4 different times over 3 days.

I would recommend the shop for anyone looking for honest professional mechanics. Tom, was very helpful and straightforward with what my car needed. My car had a check engine light, i took it to the VW Dealership and they told me i needed a new engine, that would have cost 💲; Took it to Wheaton VW Service Center, and all the car needed was VVT valve. Saved me thousands of dollars!! Thank you Tom and Wheaton Service Center 🙏. You have my business as long as i have a car.

Called in to get an estimate to replace shocks and struts on a mark 6 Jetta. They answer with a smart attitude and wanted $1,200 to replace struts and $700 for shocks just on the labor alone, stating that it was a two day job. Sounded like they didn’t want my business at all.

They really know what they are doing and were kind enough to accommodate me even though they were fully booked. Honestly, I'm happy they are in the area and I don't intend to take my car anywhere else.

I recently brought my VW GTI with mystery problems to Wheaton Service Center. Excellent customer service, problem solving, and availability. Highly recommend!

Simply the best VW service location within 100 miles. Straight talk, no nonsense. They give you the facts and let you decide. I've trusted them for over a decade with my car. They've not only kept it running perfectly but done so quickly and without breaking the bank. 2022 update: still the absolute best place for your VW. 2024 still amazing

Wheaton Service Center is the best place to come to if you have a Volkswagen. As soon as you come in, Mr. Tom makes you feel like family. Tom is so knowledgeable and informative. Tom and the Crew go above and beyond for their clients. Very Blessed to have found this location and met Tom and the crew at Wheaton Service Center. Thank you, Thank you Mr. Tom and Crew Members. .

I am glad to have found this shop after learning firsthand that the service department at the VW dealership is not as thorough as they claim to be. My car had been burning off oil quicker than expected and the dealership did not even identify my oil level was dangerously low. Wheaton Service Center was able to correctly diagnose and resolve my issue. This shop only works on VW’s and their knowledge of the cars is very apparent. Their explanation of my issue matched up with the prior research I had done on the various VW forums.

When you choose a mechanic, you are quite literally putting your life in someone's hands as a great many things could horribly malfunction in a car at any time. I personally don't know a ton about cars so finding someone I could trust with mine was no small task. Tom and co. Here at Wheaton Service Center will be my go-to car people until one of us goes the way of the dinosaurs. Tom is just a delight and is very straightforward with diagnoses and what needs to be done. Whether you want to hear it or not, he will inform you of exactly what your car needs, give a solid estimate with the information he has, and give a reasonable time for repairs. I've gone here for years at this point and have been treated fairly and honestly every single time, and honestly could not recommend this place enough. If you have a VW, you want to come here.

Great place to bring in your Volkswagen or Audi for service. Competitive cost, quality work, friendly staff and they don't pressure to perform unwanted services. Unlike dealer service centers, they will offer for older vehicles to use rehabilitated or parts from junk yards for expensive components. They back up their work for replacing expensive with warranty to replace at no charge if needed.

There are four things I loved about this place: 1 - Tom is great After reading all the reviews... OK, I'm also now part of Tom's fan club. He's funny, nice, knowledgeable, and we had a great chat about many other things, including travel tips in Indiana. 2 - They aim for repeat customers Their website says they aim for a base of repeat customers and I think they are delivering it. Every customer that visited when I was there was a repeat customer. This is a great sign for a business. About the car service: Tom told me in the morning that I may need to X, Y and Z and the cost would be M, and then he called me later that day and told me that I didn't need X and Y, other stuff looked good, so they just did Z and my car is ready. When I went there, I realized I owed them 1/4 of what I was expecting to pay. They basically chose not to get my money. If they did all others, I would pay it and be content with them, but this behavior was a surprise. Especially after being to dealers that tried to sell me things that I didn't need. 3 - They have an experienced staff I looked around and it seems that all their employees are very experienced and long-term employees. Given that they have hundreds of positive reviews about them (and consistent quality), this is a further positive sign of what kind of a workplace they are. 4 - Pricing reasonable & parts are good quality After seeing the prices in other dealers for the same services, their prices are extremely fair and very reasonable. They seem to be using quality parts, too. Hope that I'd be lucky to be their customer so long as I have a VW.

My first impression was positive and really felt like I found a shop that I can rely on in the future. I went in for an oil change at the end of February with my personal oil and Tom was very nice and helped me out with no issues. Here we are at the beginning of may and in the middle of nowhere I get the "low oil level" light. I open the hood and I notice that I have a leak coming from under the oil filter ( I suspect overtightening of the filter ). I know that there is some oil left in my trunk from my previous visit and find out that my oil was sealed and never touched. So what did they use in my car ? I call the service center to explain my frustration and Tom tells me "Congratulations". Congratulations for me getting free oil from them and what do you want me to do about it attitude. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I never asked for your oil, I certainly never asked for your oil additives either ( even though I was charged for it ) and was never asked if it's ok with me to have it added in my engine. My fault for not checking everything as soon as I left. I was fooled by the positive reviews. I know human errors happen all the time. But you cannot tell your customer who is stranded on the edge of the road "Congratulations". Even though there is no coincidence my oil started leaking after our visit, I will not step foot in your place ever again. There is a plethora of mobile mechanics and shops ready to take my money. Don't forget that you represent a business and need to be courteous to your patrons. If you act like I called your house at 3AM to complain about my problems, you may close shop sooner than you think.

Most trustworthy, honest and intelligent shop I've ever seen, just from one phone call. I called Tom to get an estimate about replacing a couple of different parts on a 2008 Jetta. All I wanted to know was how much it would cost. Tom asked some very good questions, understood the full extent of the problem and was very knowledgable. I work on cars myself and Tom was very clearly able to explain every detail about each of the problems with the car I was trying to get fixed and he ultimately made a recommendation that would save ME time and money and ultimately meant not bringing the car into his place at all.

I had my ‘07 VW Rabbit brought in for a Oil Change after being recommended this location by friends who also own a VW. And I was very impressed with the service and polite staff at this location, They were very informative in explaining to me about the work done on my car and what other repairs I would need to have done in the near future. I definitely will be coming back for all my future VW services on my Rabbit. I highly recommend this service center for anyone with a VW, they care for both the customer and in keeping their VW’s running for many years to come!

I love this place. As a woman, I am always worried that garages will take advantage of me - thinking I don't know much. This place did not do that. Everything was clearly explained, they were upfront with the charges and I was never surprised when I saw my bill. The quality of work is fantastic and I have to say, customer service is top notch. I recently called, asking when I had my timing belt changed on my 2008 Passat and within seconds, I was told when and how many miles were on my car. Professional, kind, great quality: I can't recommend this place enough.

I never visited this shop. I had a phone consultation. Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the gentleman but I asked him questions about Volkswagen and the cost of maintenance (because I was in the middle of purchasing one). Not only he was super polite and warm, he was very helpful and answered all of my questions with honest assessment despite the conflict of interest. I decided not to buy the car. However, if I get a Volkswagen, I’m bringing my car to him. He’s a good man. Thank you!

I discovered Wheaton Service Center when I first moved to Maryland 3 years ago. I found them to be very honest and helpful. I work in retail and (IMO) their customer service is top-notch. Two years ago I moved to PG County and after several poor experiences with dealerships and garages in PG, I am happily driving a half hour to get my car serviced at Wheaton again.

One of the best customer experiences you can have. Tom is a great guy, and will make sure your car is taken care of. Honest and thorough in answering my questions.

Had my car serviced by Tom and company. I cannot recommend doing business with them enough! They took a car (2011 Sportwagen TDI) that was already running perfectly and made it even better! They're that good. Tom is a pretty friendly guy to talk to, which is helpful in this line of work, no doubt. I also really like how easy it is to set up appointments- they do both phone and e-mail confirmations! They also give out helpful advice to keep your car running, and in general go out of their way to be helpful. I've gotten that impression about Volkswagen in general, and I hope that trend continues!

Reliable, honest car dealer. Saved my family 5.6k from a questionable estimate at a dealership. I'm so glad I asked around, 4 moms from a local list serve suggested this business and I'm so glad for their great advice.

A lot of reviews here have already stated what I believe to be true, but I thought I'd share an anecdote. I've actually been coming to Wheaton Service Center since I moved to the DC area because of the excellent quality of service and care with which they treat my 2001 VW Passat. I had scheduled an appointment this past Saturday and arrived much earlier than the shop opened and parked it in the first metered spot outside of the gates. I saw Tom (and he saw me) arrive in his '95 Audi around 7:40A. Around 7:50, one gentleman pulled in about two car lengths ahead of me and five minutes later brought another gentleman to parallel park right ahead of me, despite the fact that I was in a VW and waiting with my lights on. Right at 8AM, Tom opened the gates, the two gentleman scurried in, and Tom immediately walked right over to me and took my keys first. Not only do they do great work; they are great people. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for maintenance on their VW. Their prices are competitive and they are willing to explain everything in as much detail as you want.

Tom and the crew are very adept at diagnosing and repairing VW & Audi's. The cost and quality of their work is beyond question. I wholeheartedly recommend Wheaton Service Center Ltd. My car is nearly 17 years old w/ 180,000 and she runs perfectly,in no small part to this team.

These guys know Volkswagens. They work fast, prices are fair, and they're honest. The took the time to explain how the entire exhaust system works and why I DIDN'T need to replace a part they found was faulty. Can't say I've had another shop do that before.

At one time, almost every member of my family drove a VW and Tom was the only guy we went to! He helped us sell, buy, and maintain our vehicles for years, and I couldn't be more grateful. Reputable, transparent, and a little quirky - couldn't ask for more! You won't go wrong with Wheaton Service Center.

The ONLY place I took my 2001 VW Jetta wagon since I moved to the DC area in 2006. I trust them implicitly. They explain the problems and repairs clearly. They don't try to upsell you on repairs you don't need (which happened at dealers.) Now I take my 2011 Audi A4 there as well. Recently the dealer quoted me $932 for rear brake pads and rotors (but if pads are 4 mm thick still, why do I need new rotors?) Plus $200 for an alignment. I immediately called Tom to schedule the service with him instead.

VWs, unfortunately, require specialized care...and it's not cheap. I found Wheaton Service Center through its many, many positive reviews. They have always been able to work on my car when I need them to. They always fix my car in a timely fashion. Most importantly, I've never felt that I was paying for unnecessary work or been treated in a dishonest fashion. Look, my father owned and operated a repair shop in the NY/NJ area. I grew up around it. I know how they tend to operate: if they think they can get a few extra bucks from you or convince you that you need work done that you really don't, they will. That's the way my father ran his shop, and that's the way his competitors (and friends) ran theirs. I've never felt that Wheaton Service Center has taken advantage of me or charged me for work I didn't need. In fact, they are pretty straightforward with, "Well, this is something you need right now, but this is something that can wait." On my limited budget, that's always a plus. An honest repair shop and they do great work. Why go anywhere else?

I had my first experience with Wheaton Service Center earlier this week, and it was wonderful. Not only did they explain what was wrong, they also explained the risks involved with my repair. They went out of their way to find the part needed to install the same day AND it cost no more than getting the repair done at any national brand service center -- except I had genuine VW parts, and not junk! I will not hesitate to take my Jetta back here for TLC -- my only regret is that I did not do so sooner!

This is hands down the best possible place to have a Volkswagen serviced and cared for in the DMV. Tom is one of my favorite people in the world, and not just because he extends the life of my vehicle every time he works on it. The whole team is friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and kind. You simply cannot find a better place to take care of your vehicle. Tom has personally spent 30 minutes or more explaining in detail (complete with printed diagrams of my engine's interior!!!) the exact issues that have arisen with my car in the past, and how exactly the process of repair would progress. Bring your vehicle to Wheaton Service Center and know that you are receiving the best possible service at the best possible prices.
