I brought in my car battery and Michael was so helpful and friendly. He tested my battery and determined it was still good and encouraged me to bring my car in and he would run a diagnostic. He also suggested it could be the connection, which it was! As i was leaving he was out in the parking lot assisting another customer. Great store.
Well, not like I expected. They had oil, filters and lights, but needed to order most of the brake parts for the two cars I was trying to fix. I went to NAPA. Sorry.
I changed the rating to 5 stars to say the clerk, named Genesis, was terrific today. She showed me the types of car batteries available, with prices and warranty differences, then she wrote up a $5 coupon to boot! That's worth a thank-you.
I never heard of a store associate laughing in a customers face when they attempted to return something that was defective. I'm assuming she was the "manager" and definitely suggested I buy a different and cheaper product with no form of empathy. I've been in retail over 25 years and I've never seen anything like it. I'll take my business somewhere else.
I recently came here to have my car battery tested and ultimately replaced, and I also picked up new wipers. Over the course of my visit I interacted with three different employees, and every one of them was outstanding. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable.
The first gentleman tested my battery and confirmed what I suspected: It was dying and needed to be replaced. The second lady swapped out the battery quickly and efficiently in about ten minutes. After that, I went back in to purchase wipers, and the third lady not only let me test-fit slightly longer blades (as I’d read online that they could work better for my vehicle) but also helped me install the correct size to save me some time.
Tl;dr: This location is excellent. Every staff member I spoke with was pleasant, helpful, and made the experience quick and easy. If you're in the area and need auto parts, you might as well come here.
Installed my new 12v battery right outside in all of 15 minutes, really appreciate the service! Can’t imagine what I’d have paid at the dealer to get a new battery installed.
Chris is a rockstar. Helped & taught me about my windshield wipers and fluid that I admittedly have been neglecting all while entertaining two very energetic 6 year old boys running through the aisles. He is professional, knowledgeable, and fun. Thanks Chris for your help!
Advance Auto Parts refuses to honor the warranty on a “platinum” battery that I purchased from them less than a year ago!
I purchased their most expensive platinum battery in December 2022 and now less than a year later it won’t start if we leave the rear hatch open for five minutes. My wife has had to get someone to jump start our van twice in the last few days. I’ve been to the mechanic twice. They tried to charge the battery for hours and it won’t hold a charge. They checked everything out and said it’s definitely a bad cell in the battery.
I showed Advance Auto the photos from the mechanic’s battery test that clearly says “Replace Battery”, but they refuse to honor the warranty. They disregard the mechanic (who was probably working on cars before they were born) and the evidence from the mechanics battery test and claim it must be some other problem with our van.
The staff here goes above and beyond. I needed a new battery for my VW and called around to several auto parts stores in the area, and this store was the only one that was willing to install and recode it. Nash was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Best car parts store in the area.
Great Customer Service. Clear and including pictures diagnosis report. Repair options provided including priority so as to enable customer make an informed decision.
Zack, Nash, and another young fellow did an above beyond job on installing a new battery for my 911. Professional guys who loved what they do! Highly recommend and will be back.
Great auto store location in downtown Damascus. Usually has what we need or can order, and I know other customers are grateful for the free tool rental. Also a plus, the acceptance of recycled oil.
Austin was very rude to my father and I when we inquired about brake parts. It was very clear that we were the biggest inconvenience for him and he barely spoke to us about our purchase. The other two guys that work there were talking very loudly with each other and using language that I don’t think would be appropriate around customers.
Overall, I’m disappointed that this experience has ended any future purchases from this store but it’s not unexpected. This location has gotten worse and worse over the years and I have always felt that my presence there is unwanted and inconvenient for the staff. The tone and demeanor that Austin took with my father and I was rude and disrespectful. We won’t be going back.
Advanced Auto Parts (specifically Kaylin) went above and beyond to help me with a dead battery. I felt like they really cared about me as a customer and helping me get my problem fixed. I would definitely go to them again.
Went in there to buy rear brake pads and rotors for my 2000 Camry and the person who sold it to me assured me that they were the right ones (I have never heard someone speak with more confidence than them) long story short they were not the correct brakes and when I attempted to return them I was declined because I did not have my receipt even though they said the could see that i had bought them there in their system, would definitely reccomend you take your business elsewhere because the lack of knowledge and horrible customer service
I stopped by on a whim -- I have a Western Snowplow that needs its hydraulic fluid changed, and had difficulty discovering (in Western's documentation, web site, and with google searches) exactly what tool I would need to drain out the old fluid. At Advance Auto Parts a salesperson gladly came out to my truck (with the plow attached), examined the drain plug, and after a couple of guesses, found the tool I needed (which cost me very little). This isn't the first time this place has helped me figure out what I need to solve a new problem or confusion. Highly recommended.
While in Mount Airy, MD our battery died. Shout out to Dre at the Damascus, MD store for great service regarding the battery we just purchased there. Dre was very personable, friendly, and professional. Dre expertly installed the battery at no additional charge. The Advance Auto Parts in Mount Airy ,where we stopped first, the woman who waited on us there was somewhat snippy, and refused to install the battery. We said 'adios' to her and headed for our usual Damascus, Advance Auto parts. As usual, outstanding service with a smile. Thanks, Dre, for helping us out.
WORST EXPERIANCE
9/28/17 in store 6:30pm
Earlier today I called the AAP store near my office to check if they had the battery I needed. They checked my year, model (Volvo), engine size, ect... They had the it in and they said they could install it and it would take 30 min. I had to pick up my son from school so I decided to get it at the AAP in Damascus near my home. I went in the store, ask for the battery and to have it installed. He told me that they had it in stock but they didn't install batteries for Volvo's. Funny, I purchased a battery for the same car 3 years ago. The guy previously in AAP in Damascus installed it. The AAP Silver spring could install it. Then he said he had the right not to install it. He said, he felt uncomfortable doing it. If that was the case, he could of asked to have another person to install it or said i could come back at another time but NOTHING! The battery was $181. If I was the owner I would firer him. In frustration, I asked for a card or phone number for the store. He said they didn't have any. This person with the piss poor attitude is AUSTIN. I called a half an hour later to speak with a manager (googled the #), Austin answered the phone, I asked to speak with a manager. He said he was the MANAGER. I hope he was NOT telling the truth for the sake of the business. i
I spent a half hour as the only customer in this store and not one employee approached me with an offer of help. Two female employees spent most of my time there trash talking another woman. I will not return to this location.
Normally I go into stores not expecting much in the way of customer service but this store is IT in terms of good customer service. The first time, this young guy with blondish hair, helped me with what I was looking for and offered to fix it in my car which he did. I met him again and he helped me again.
The other time, it was this other tall young guy, who helped me to get the best wiper blades and installed it. I didn't even ask, he offered. I've had the worst luck with getting a good set of wiper blades but what he recommended was great!
Management should pay attention to this store and honor the employees there, they're simply great!
