I recently took my car to Advanced Automotive Repair for a check engine light issue. Jim and his team worked quickly and efficiently. My check engine light came back on a few times and each time they were able to fix the issue. It turned out to be a sensor that was malfunctioning and causing other issues. I highly recommend them. They are honest and kind and Jim explains each procedure, the cost, and why it was needed. I did not feel like they were trying to upsell me or push me into unneeded repairs.
I would give less than 1 star if possible. I was told by the owner that it would be a 1 or 2 day fix and cost $1200. It ended up taking almost 2 weeks and costing $2000 plus. I had to show up and wait for my car one day to get it back. They were extremely rude during the process. Then, when I did get the car back, it had a new problem and wouldn't start properly. He said that it wasnt his problem, and demanded the $2000 in cash, saying he wouldn't work on the car anymore to fix the new problem (wouldn't start properly). When I asked why cash, he said "because I said so". Apparently he couldn't get the card machine to work?? I then brought it to another mechanic who is much better than this one, where they confirmed that Advanced Auto's work was done sloppily and that they had hooked things up wrong, causing the new issue. The new mechanic fixed Advanced Autos mistake for $200. I recommend avoiding this place and giving your business to a reputable & professional mechanic.
I was very impressed by the friendliness and work they did with my car. The prices are reasonable and the owner is straight with what it will cost and if something else comes up he lets you know and decide what to do. I will be going back soon for my brake pads.

I went to Advanced to have my brake pads done. Again, they out did themselves with hospitality, cost and a great job. Do yourself a favor go see them, they are fair and do t do any of that sales pitch to buy what you don’t need yet. They will let you know if they see anything so you can be prepared for the future which is always a good thing for me. Five star rating in my experience.
Very nice guy, kind and professional. My only complaint is that my car didnt pass inspection after buying it from carvana who already said they inspected it. He failed it for a little dry rot slit on the tire. It was my birthday so was hoping he would give me a break.. But thats not his job lol thats why i gave a 4, only because it was my birthday and had to then take my car to get a new tire and bring back to him to look at it again. But he was very friendly and informative and directed me right to the tire place nearby. I called to see if he could inspect it in less time than pep boys which was a minimum of 4 hours and he told me to bring it in and was finished in exactly 2 hours. He called me when finished. He explained thoroughly the details regarding the failed inspection, and any other questions asked. Satisfied with the service and would go back again
I had Advanced Automotive Repair change out my OEM wheels for new wheels, install a new grill and install a new rear deck lid and I'm very happy with the results. I was also happy to find out that they offer a veteran discount.
Everyone was super nice, I needed a MD inspection last minute and they were nice enough to squeeze me in that day. I will definitely go back to them for future car needs
Small shop with responsive team members. I went in for state inspection. They were quick and gave recommendation on getting a lens treatment to help with visibility at night. There is also a small waiting area with a couch, tv, and toys for young kids. I appreciate them squeezing me in two hours before closing. I will be back for more service!
We take all of our cars to Advanced Automotive Repair. Great people, awesome service and doing things right is never a problem. Love having this shop in our corner. You can too, give them a try, I assure you, you will not be let down. Jim ROCKS!
Jim & his assistant was able to take us last minute on a Saturday to replace our car's Starter. We were traveling through Frederick, so while our car was being fixed, we toured Historic Frederick downtown (only a mile away). They did a great job and Jim was very informative. They even found we were a quart low on oil. Thanks to them, we were back on the road that evening.
Jim and Ron are the most detail orientated mechanics that I’ve been able to work with. They looked at my car and found the issues that I needed and were able to assist me with their services but also educate me on the matter. They helped me survive and fixed a huge issue for me
This was my first time using Advanced Automotive repair. At first glance it was an older building and not impressive. BUT, after having my car inspected there my opinion changed dramatically from my first impression. Jim is an excellent mechanic that really does care about cars and how to keep them running longer. We talked at length about basic services that cars need. I highly recommend that you take your care there for all your automotive needs.
Jim and the team are great! I learn something every time I take my car there. They take pride in the work they do and Jim always explains things in great detail to ensure I understand exactly what he worked on and what I'll need to maintain everything. I'm really grateful for them, good mechanics are hard to find and they take the cake!
Inspection Maryland, they’re horrible especially Jim, he is trying to fail your vehicle for minor reasons so he can collect more money. I recommend you guys to check with different areas except this one. They will schedule you even though if they have other folks on their schedule, and their excuse is long inspection they’re full of BS.
Front office and scheduling was easy and fast. The tech forgot to reset the computer to prompt the next oil change. Brought my own oil and filter to keep cost down. The tech did check out the rest of the truck in prep for a long upcoming trip.
Jim and Ron here at Advanced Automotive are amazing. My car broke down from water pump/serpentine belt fell off, I got stranded. Called Jim up and he was super helpful and took the car in when towed in. Jim and Ron got started working on the car at 9am and worked through the day to get it up and running on the same day!! So I didnt have to be stranded 60 miles away from home. Thank you so much for the amazing customer service and assistance. They also gave me advice on maintenance tips to prevent issue from happening again. Thanks for making a terrible situation into a good experience meeting yall people!
Found this local garage through a Google search for Benz repairs. Met owner by phone and then in person. What a nice guy and great little shop! A cool throw back to the days of my youth when visiting this establishment. Jim saved us $500 in a belt replacement over what the dealership had quoted, and since our SUV has 140,000 miles, having the work done here was a no-brainer. Car is running fine. We look forward to having Advanced Automotive keeping this car alive for a while longer
Great place with reasonable prices. I work with engine development and can tell they have a lot of experience. Flexible with times and if you prefer to do part of the repair yourself. Jim always calls back as agreed. Just got my old Jeep with 230k miles on it through MD emission inspection with a clear PASS

Jim, Brandon and Lynn are very professional. Service was great and repair bill was reasonable. Jim saved me some money as I thought I needed to replace all pads and rotors but a clean, adjust and brake flush was all it needed. They also did an oil change, tire rotation and replace 2 tires. Excellent work and highly recommended! Very professional and went an extra mile to get my car fixed at a reasonable price. At first I was not sure what to expect, but after explaining my concerns and the things I was asked by a different service to get fixed before passing the State inspection in Germantown - It became clear that some things were unnecessary! This was a huge relief because we just came from a different state. Got the car fixed and passed the State inspection. Thanks and I look forward to going back again for any car repairs.
I have had my brakes done at this shop and was VERY happy with the over all experience. Jim explained to me on what my car would need to be done in the future of my car to help save money down the road. When he explained things to me it was so i could understand. I fully plan on coming back and having the rest of the maintenance done at this shop. FULLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
I have definitely found a new mechanic!!! The owner is very nice and HONEST!! They've done great work and we've had NO problems or complaints. The entire staff is GREAT! Noah, a mechanic there, has worked on a few of our vehicles and we've been 100% satisfied. They're willing to take the time to answer questions and explain everything. The prices are reasonable. They are clearly not out to gouge customers by finding ways to charge aa much as they possibly can. (My brake job ended up being less than the estimate.) They've always gotten our vehicles in on time and were done when expected. I trust them completely with all our vehicles. I have definitely found our new mechanic!!
