Bill has built me five engines . all of them were excellent and never blew up on me. The first two engines for my boat. They were 2, 350 Meccruisers. I trailered that boat to Florida and ran all over the outer Bahamas and down to Key West. Boat ran all over the Chesapeake Bay from Norfolk to the C&D Canal up by Delaware. The other three engines worked just as good. I regret selling those boats after Bill rebuilt my motors.
I have been going to Advance Automotive since I was 18 years old. Back when the shop was over by the old Maryland State Police Barracks. I’m currently 47 now. Bill has machine numerous engines for me over the years. And I have never had any issues. He has always done great work for me. He is a very knowledgeable. And he’s a super nice guy. If he doesn’t know it. You count on. He will find answer for you. I would recommend Bill’s Advance Automotive to anyone looking for a really good machinist.
I would contact this company anytime I need machine work done. I contacted them about doing heads on a Jeep Commander 4.7. After informing him one of the rocker arms was just laying in the head, he advised the valve guide had let go. These engines are noted for doing this. He indicated the amount of time it would take him to press the new valve guides in would not be worth it. He advised purchasing heads already done with the new valve guides installed. He also recommended a company he uses. Not only did he turn down the work, he assisted me in finding a replacement part.
He have a lot of machine shop work coming up in the near future and I will definitely be using this company.
The service here was outstanding. Bill went above and beyond to help me (a very amateur mechanic) get the job done. Even going so far as sending me the up to date specs and torque information afterwards to make sure I was on the right path. And the prices were absolutely reasonable. I'm sure if I hadn't gone to this shop for my work, the car would not be working today. I will be going back here for any work I need done in the future.
