Dealerships encourage you to have them service your vehicle. That way they can keep tabs on you, present opportunities to sell you another car, and to make money selling you their services. Local shops are interested in two things, maintaining and repairing your vehicle. Pine State Garage is a perfect example of this. When we moved to Wells twenty two years ago I had an issue with my Jeep. I brought it to Pine State and they could have sold me a whole new exhaust system but a new clamp and a couple of screws took care of the problem. Since then I regularly go to Pine State for my service. You make an appointment, they give you a fair estimate, promise to let you know if there are any extraordinary issues, call you for your decision and do only what is necessary to fix the problem. I have never felt pressure to have something done. I have always felt I’ve been treated professionally and honestly. I highly recommend Pine State Garage to fairly assess, maintain and repair my car.
They were extremely easy to work with to get a last minute inspection sticker appointment for a new car that did not have an inspection sticker. I was impressed with the detail and explanations provided with what was checked and why everything was good.
Just moving to the area one is nervous about replacing your favorite garage. Pine State is top notch. They communicate thoroughly and the customer service was great. They asked lots of questions and were very detailed in explaining the issues with my car. They were honest and straightforward and receiving a print out with everything they did with helpful comments was great. The women on the phone and in the office was fabulous.

We were up here on vacation when our brakes started grinding, called them at 8 am and they had the car back to us by 5pm with all new brakes, oil change, air in the tires. They also gave us a comprehensive packet detailing all that was wrong or could be an issue in the future as well. They were also so kind and seemed like genuinely good people who care about cars and people’s safety! We will forever recommend this garage to Anyone in the area

Can’t say enough good things about my experience. First interaction was with Beverly, who was friendly and full of information and got me hooked up to get my car repaired within two days… changed brakes all around, tires, belts, filters, alignment, and an oil change. The guys took good care of my car and left it clean and road ready. Beverly then checked me out easily and provided me with some contact info for another garage that might be able to provide me a cheaper and easier repair for my exhaust than what a Kia exhaust costs… and for a garage, the place was clean and well maintained. Very impressed coming in from out of town and being treated so well. Highly recommend The Pine State Garage!

My first experience with Pine State Garage this week, and I was overwhelmingly impressed. Diagnosed and repaired an engine overheating issue quickly, at a reasonable cost.
I was pleasantly surprised with the detailed diagnostic, repair and inspection report received via text, complete with narrative and photos. The service and communication was just above and beyond what I expected.

Trust and reliability are essential parts of the car service industry, but this is a highly untrustworthy business. I called this place on June 23rd and made an appointment to get my SUV maintained and inspected on their next available appointment, July 2cnd, but when we called the day before to make arrangements to drop off the car, my husband and I were both told the reservation didn't exist. I found the call log in my phone, and the staff person I spoke to found it as well, proving I had made the appointment but was then told they were completely booked for another week and a half, which I wasn't waitinf for because why would I want to be told again in two weeks that I'd never made the second appointment? At this point, I would have moved along, but this woman called me back to GASLIGHT me and try to say I never made the appointment FOR JULY 2CND, which I absolutely did. She tried to convince me it was only a conversation about protocols, which is a lie. That is super sketchy dishonest business practices. Dont put trust in a business that operates like this and will waste two weeks of your time waiting for them to tell you that they don't keep organized books and won't honor the appointments that they made. Luckily, there are plenty of other reputable shops in the area. This Kennebunk resident won't go that Wells business again.
When we arrived for the appointment for State Inspection, the mechanic greeted us right away and took the truck right in. Very professional and nice woman at the desk.

Pine State has to be the most honest and customer focus shop around! I recently had an issue with the exhaust manifold on my truck and they could have easily just taken the work and charged me a couple thousand dollars. However, they told me that while they could do it that another shop was actually the best option for service and value on that particular repair. I was shocked! How often does someone turn down a pretty big job and refer you to someone else because they believe they will provide a better overall value? I really appreciate their honesty and focus on doing the right thing for their customers, even a first timer like me. Finally, they were right... the shop they referred me to, Lou's Custom Exhaust in Portsmouth, was equally honest and helpful. I will definitely be going to Pine State for my needs moving forward!
